Backstory: Nekomaru Nidai was born on Febuary 22nd, which befalls on cat day! Given to his heart defect that's left him bedridden, confined to the hospital, the doctors who have treated him had said he'd live until 20 years old. Of course, due to his illness, he was never able to play sports or partake in P.E at school. He was frequently teased and unluckily couldn't befriend anyone in his youth as he's gone to the hospital back and forth. ━ While hospitalized, he met someone who'd change his entire like, Daisuke Hachiriki, a young team manager of a baseball team who went through the same condition Nekomaru's faced and was frequently visiting the hospital, unlike Nekomaru, Daisuke has his athletes who visited him, engaging in fun to serious conversation and from Daisuke, Nekomaru learnt you can indeed share team victories and defeats even without direct participation in the game. Then eventually furthermore as time has passed....━ Daisuke died without having the chance to see his team, who he was trained to reach championship, Nekomaru thought maybe Daisuke overexerted himself, gathering stats for this important game, or perhaps he always has known his time would soon come to it's very limit. His motivation to become a team manager, to coach them.... Nekomaru felt insipired by this and became th one to furfill his dream by becoming a team manger himself! Nekomaru firstly decided to take all of the stats this boy risked his life gathering for his team and use this to lead the team to victory.━ Nekomaru quickly gained a strong reputation as a skilled team manager, having travelled to numerous towns and playing an active role in various sports clubs by managing their teams. Even taught those poorly structured and managed teams into becoming nationally recognized themselves, including a high school rugby team of delinquents and a baseball club at the verge of shutting down. Training several athletes, including a famous Japanese pitcher that went on to play in the American League whilist in high school, he also taught Leon Kuwata in the process. Additionally, he trained a digure skater capable of performing six and a half spins, a tennis player who won a match lasting 36 hours, and the list goes on!━ Afterwards, he engaged himself into various sports which lead to him getting buffed in the process, gaining significant muscle strength in the process, his body incredibly tough, he is prolific among athletes of his thanks to his original special massage technique which instantly relieves fatique and enables them to push through and perservere in training sessions and competitions.━ Nekomaru gradually recovered through rigorous physical training and inspiration from Daisuke he had gained since his time in the hospital, he is also expressively fearful of damaging his body rarely at times, he overcame his heart condition eventually. Nekomaru attended First Yokoyama High School prior to being scouted by Hope's Peak Academy, as the Ultimate Team Manager Nekomaru was apart of Class 77-B, attendance is a MUST. Nekomaru always attended class regularly, in recess, he began training Akane Owari, and of course the class played games, and ate lunch together whenever it was a studient's birthday on school months.━ Since Natsumi Kuzuryu(Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu's younger sister) died, the mood had been soured and yet he still passed this test since he did not want to be expelled, anyone who failed this exam would be expelled and their Ultimate title would be revoked and they'd have to be scouted for an indefinite amount of time.━ In his upperclassman year, Nekomaru and his classmated bear witnesses to the beggining of "The Parade" who protested against the Main Course, blaming them for causing the Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, the leaking of the "PROJECT: Izuru Kamukura files" reached them trough the various leaks of the internet, thinking they're responsible for everything, accused of the fees being used by the Reserve Course studients to create these "murders". Albeit Nekomaru and his classmates were not involved at all, Mikan Tsumiki was missing for some time and now that she's arrived, Chisa calmed them down and settled for Mikan to choose a movie night next week which had occured since the "Parade" had ended... This sealed his fate, of course, he did resist this brainwash attempt. Which had Mikan with no choice but to use drastic measures, manipulating Nekomaru into despair using his past against him, the same feeling of powerlessness, that he can't save anyone, that he's failed them, that he let them all down..... That, was Nekomaru Nidai's Ultimate Despair. Soon, he became this exactly as apart of the Remnants of Despair. Nekomaru was then captured by the Future Foundation and subjected into the Neo-Jabberwock Rehabilitation Project, ran by Makoto Naegi and company. Serving as a way of rewriting their minds and rewire their personalities to who they once were... Unfortunately, this would soon become more than it's purpose, becoming another killing game in itself...

Etymology: His first name, Nekomaru (猫丸) literally means "round cat". His birthday, February 22, falls on Cat Day, in Japan, most likely a nod off to his name. His last name, Nidai (弐大) means "two" and "big". His full name may translate to "Two big round cats". When written as 二台, "Nidai" means "two machines". This could be a reference to how, over the course of Danganronpa 2, Nekomaru gets turned into two machines - first "Mechanidai", then "Mininidai", in the original Japanese release. His name was initially going to be Kintarō Nidai, but it was changed to Nekomaru Nidai as it "rolled the tongue better".

Appearance: Nekomaru is a very tall, muscular man with black hair, brown eyes that emit a blue electric aura, stubble around his jawline, and a small goatee. He wears a white tank top under a black gakuran, with a First Yokoyama High School badge and collar pin on each side. He also wears blue tracksuit pants and Getas. Around his neck are chains, with a whistle hanging from the middle. He has two scars running from the top of both eyes, each heading in its own direction. Additionally, he has a towel tucked into the back of his pants and a noticeable crotch bulge. Due to his appearance, Nekomaru is often mistaken for a cosplayer of a fighting game character.

Personality: Nekomaru is passionate, boisterous and displays vigor, even under the strains of the killing game, he is often upbeat and optimistic which at first mad him stand out as scary and intimidating. Not mentioning his inmense willpower and the habit of frequently shouting while talking as he's adopted this from his lineage of work which overwhelms those around him without noticing, unless if he were provoked to, despite this, he is golden-hearted and sucks at lying, apologizing whenever he makes a mistake. Nekomaru is selfless, especially to his friends and athletes and while this is his way of showing how much he cares ever if it jeopardizes himself in the end ever with pure intentions. Knocking Nagito unconscious and tying him up to prevent anymore damage and confining him at the crime scene for example. Just because he is prosperous for self-sacrifice doesn't imply he is lackluster of forethought or behaving carelessly, being one of those who have challenged Monokuma's authority, standing his ground. He is self-aware, keen judgement to those around him are key reasons to his excellence as team manager which had him identify which sports accomodate to Hajime in ways he has never seen to be the case, reccomending him to do rugby under his own supervision and to understand teamwork. Knowing Akane won't listen when she's made her choice and advising her not to solo all the time, as means to have Fuyuhiko express his resolve and regrets, advising Mikan to attend his own recovery party despite his injuries. According to Hajime, he's already given plenty of advice and his words are just as inspiring.━ As the Ultimate Team Manager, taking great pride of his role confidently, diciplined, cannot stand those lazy sloths, and often became very strict with his training. Such tough love, nonetheless he strived to help his athletes reach the top through teamwork and fighting spirit. Nekomaru is incredibly supportive of those under his supervision which reflects through his composure throughout the game in beliefs that a manager shouldn't be more concerned than his own athletes, conforting Hajime and others at their weakest, vowing to support them to winning their "match" by working together to escape the island. He takes care of the otherssince he was a team manager, always looking out. He'd put himself at the edge of the blade to protect those he cherishes and cares about.━ Nekomaru is also sentimental and doesn't feel scared expressing it as he had gone through plenty of things as well in his past, also regarding ife and the value that is provided. His inspiration came from a boy in the same hospital room who passed away and he went to furfill his dream and become a team manager himself... Nekomaru isn't ashamed of talking about things that can embarass or make someone uncomfortable, discussing his bathroom habits which came from being constipated and never missed a chance from announcing it, regreting not being able to go anymore. Nekomaru invades others personal space to assess their inner potential as athletes and obsessively offers people "it", especially to his friends, peers and as well as his athletes

As the Ultimate Team Manager, Nekomaru Nidai guided several teams to set new records, that the impossible can be possible if you put your mind through it and that is something that cannot be underestimated, stating before that their would not be happenin without managers and due to his skills, he build himself a skyrocketing reputation and claimed many teames all over Japan fought over him for his guidance. Many of his victories forge from the bond of the manager and the athlete to figure out what they want to become not letting that come to be decided by this manager themselves, he approaches this opportunity to customize techniques tailored to a specific sport, including three essentials required beforehand which is; a solid effective training regiment due to how much goes into these training methods coming from sports medicine since he believed it would be a real challenge to unlock the full potential of every athelete which also has himbelieved that the manager must regularly gather new information and develop new training methods and frequently studying at his desk to archieve such knowledge. He's worked in the management profession for quite a long time, easily identifying those with potential to success just because of their body type and has the enough expertize to create tailored diets and muscle training plans for them, convicted these skills and judgement that are strong to sway the athletes themselves... Hope's Peak Academy never recognized him this way, using certain technique when sparring as many people got addicted to it, being thorough about it and reducing fatigue, cutting corners with any massage from them to have their full effect.....━ Nekomaru, due to engaging in a variety of sports, of course he's possessed enhanced strength and endurance and hand-to-hand combat, the latter ability could leave you bleeding even. He has an incredibly strong body resistance
