Character Profile: Negagen – The Wave Demon

Name: Negagen Alias: None Classification: Wave Demon Gender: None (Prefers He/Him) Age: Approximately 5,000 years old Height:

Mortal Form: 3.6 ft True Form: 9.2 ft

Appearance True Form: Negagen has no fixed physical body. His form comprises a cluster of shimmering blue turquoise core stones that float in midair, encased in a shell of water. The water shell can take many shapes but is typically humanoid, and its color matches the turquoise hue of the core stones. This fluid body shimmers subtly, emitting a light glow in dark environments. Mortal Form: While disguised as a mortal, Negagen takes on the appearance of a turquoise blue Super Sonic, complete with glowing, spiky quills and glowing eyes the same shade as his core stones. However, his expression often remains neutral or detached, which can be unsettling.

Personality Negagen is a curious yet passive entity. Unlike many demons, he lacks strong emotional inclinations, appearing dispassionate and neutral. This lack of cruelty and impulsivity sets him apart from the more malicious demons in Exetior’s ranks. His fascination lies in studying the mortal world and understanding both mortal and demon behavior. However, his lack of emotional capacity means he struggles to comprehend humor, morality, and mortal relationships, often imitating emotions when interacting with others. While Negagen is loyal to Exetior and respectful to certain demons like Pervision, he has no real animosity toward his enemies or underlying malice. He views life more as a puzzle to study than an arena to conquer.

Features of Wave Demons

Reclusive Nature: Most Wave Demons, including Negagen, prefer solitude and isolation. They fear confrontation with other demon classes (such as Sharpers or Rupters) and even with their own kind due to their naturally lower physical strength. Soul Consumption: Wave Demons grow stronger by absorbing the souls of mortals. Powerful Wavers can surpass even Demons of Sharpness in strength if they absorb enough highly developed and intelligent entities. Affinity to Water: Water is a Wave Demon’s main source of energy. They commonly inhabit areas like lakes, swamps, and reservoirs where they can perpetually stay revitalized. Liquid Physiology: They have low resistance to physical damage but can regenerate by absorbing nearby water.

Backstory Negagen lived a quiet life by lakes and swamps, preying on stray animals or the occasional lost mortal. His existence remained uneventful until one day a group of lost Mobian tourists wandered into his territory. Consuming their souls elevated Negagen’s strength significantly, drawing the attention of a neighboring Wave Demon named Dia Li Lax (DLL). DLL aimed to unite local Wavers under his rule to form a faction, but when Negagen refused to cooperate, DLL retaliated with violence. Negagen’s life changed when Exetior, the Chaos Entity, intervened and defeated one of DLL’s henchmen. Exetior advised Negagen to adopt a more strategic approach—controlling souls within living bodies rather than outright consuming them. Intrigued by Exetior and his teachings, Negagen decided to follow him. Their relationship eventually grew into a master student bond, as Negagen refined his powers through Exetior's training. As part of Exetior’s alliance, Negagen also befriended Pervision and Sark, gaining insights and connections within their chaotic ranks. During Exetior's rise, Negagen fought alongside him in the First Global Demon War, where demons rebelled against the Highests. However, the rebellion ended in catastrophic defeat, with Negagen captured and imprisoned in the Phantom Prison for thousands of years. Exetior, later hiding in pocket dimensions, orchestrated Negagen’s escape. Together, they began plotting revenge against the Highests anew, with Negagen providing his unique mind control abilities to aid in building their forces.

Relationships

Exetior: Negagen is deeply loyal to Exetior, referring to him as his master. He views Exetior almost as a father figure and is willing to follow his orders without hesitation.

Pervision: Negagen respects Pervision’s intelligence and enjoys conversing with him, particularly about experiments or mortal behavior. However, Pervision’s humor often eludes Negagen due to his inability to fully grasp emotional nuances.

Sark: Despite Sark's arrogance and repeated attempts to belittle him, Negagen only responds with calm neutrality, never rising to aggression or anger. His emotional detachment prevents Sark’s efforts from affecting him.

Powers and Abilities

Wave Demon Physiology: Negagen’s body consists of water, with only his turquoise blue core stones being solid. His liquid form makes him highly adaptable, allowing for regeneration through water absorption.

Soul and Mind Control: Negagen’s most dangerous ability is his mastery over souls. Instead of fully consuming souls, he can reinsert them into their bodies to control living beings. While powerful, this control can sometimes be broken if the controlled entity is able to resist in their dream or subconscious world.

Chaos Energy Manipulation: Negagen can tap into Chaos Energy much like the Chaos Emeralds. This grants him powers such as flight, teleportation, shapeshifting, telekinesis, and energy projection. His energy beams can paralyze or mentally dominate opponents.

Shapeshifting: Negagen can shapeshift into various forms, most notably his Super Sonic disguise, to blend into the mortal world.

Combat Ability: Though Wave Demons are considered the weakest class, Negagen’s experience, combined with his enhancements from consuming powerful souls, has elevated him to a level where he can match physically strong Mobians like Amy or Sally in combat.

Personality Traits

Strengths:

Analytical and strategic thinker. Unwavering loyalty to Exetior. Highly resourceful, preferring subtlety to brute force.

Weaknesses:

Physically fragile in his natural form. Struggles with understanding moral principles, humor, and emotions, making him socially awkward. Reliant on water for energy and regeneration.

Additional Trivia

Negagen enjoys treats associated with water, such as ice and ice cream, finding them oddly comforting. Pervision once proposed creating a robotic counterpart of Negagen, dubbed Metal Negagen ("Whirlpool"), as a joke. This "robot" would be brutal and destructive—everything Negagen is not. He is capable of "re educating" young Sharpers, making them less aggressive, more loyal, and more intelligent.
