Due to Villagers being incapable of fighting and Iron Golems only killing Monsters on sight, many humans do just casually loot and kidnap villagers to enslave. The Iron Golem won't stop these humans unless it witnesses them physically harming a Villager so humans did just get away with it for a long time. Until they went extinct and now Villagers just kinda do their own thing. However, with some Villagers defecting and living on Woodland mansions faraway as Pillagers and some leaving to practice witchcraft as Witches, not to mention the Zombies of the extinct humans hungering for flesh the villages now need human protection more than ever.
