Ruby, nicknamed "Navy" by Steven, is a Homeworld Gem who made her debut in "Hit the Diamond". She and the other Ruby troops were sent to Earth by Yellow Diamond to locate Jasper. After the Crystal Gems repeatedly thwarted "Navy" and her squad and stole their Roaming Eye ship, "Navy" infiltrated the Crystal Gems and stole the Roaming Eye back in "Room for Ruby".

== Appearance ==

Navy is less than 5,000 years old, stands at 3'6" (107 cm), and weighs approximately 50 lbs (23 kg). Her gemstone is where the navel of a human would be, hence her name. Her outfit features a backless, maroon shawl-like top on her torso that opens around her solar plexus, and has a yellow diamond on the collar. She also wears dark brown shorts and pointed maroon boots similar to the other Rubies. While appearing to have a cherry complexion and dark burgundy hair since her "Hit the Diamond" debut, her latest central appearance in "Room for Ruby" depicts her with bright, pinkish red skin, as well as dark red hair.

== Personality ==

Navy is notably more gleeful, expressive, and flirtatiously dramatic than the other Rubies in the troop. Soft-spoken and easily amused, she takes genuine delight in the small details of Earth and often carries herself with an almost constant air of satisfaction. Her cheerful, dorky mannerisms and seemingly innocent curiosity make her appear harmless, though she can become extremely flustered when placed under pressure. When caught off guard or put on the spot, her nervousness can escalate to the point of nearly bringing her to tears.

However, much of Navy's seemingly sweet and naïve personality is a carefully maintained facade. Beneath her cheerful exterior is a cunning, manipulative, and sadistic side that emerges when she has the upper hand. She is considerably more intelligent and calculating than she allows others to believe, deliberately presenting herself as less capable and more innocent than she really is. Her apparent friendliness allows her to gain the trust of others while concealing her true intentions.

This becomes particularly evident in "Room for Ruby", when Navy deliberately exaggerates her usual innocent behavior to convince the Crystal Gems that she poses no threat. After they lower their guard and accept her into their group, she seizes the opportunity to steal the Roaming Eye. When Steven points out that she could have simply stolen the ship from the beginning, Navy gleefully explains that she wanted to see the look on his face when she betrayed him, revealing just how much she enjoys manipulating others and taking them by surprise.

Despite her deceptively bubbly demeanor, Navy can be vindictive and hold grudges. Her personality is therefore defined by a sharp contrast between the adorably cheerful persona she presents to others and the calculating, mischievous, and occasionally unhinged individual underneath. Before the Ruby Squad's disbandment, she served alongside the other Rubies as one of Yellow Diamond's troops.

== Abilities and Skills ==

"Navy" possesses standard Gem abilities: bubbling, shapeshifting, fusion, regeneration, agelessness, gravity shifting, photokinesis, gem storage, and superhuman strength/durability.

• Fusions: When fused with "Doc", "Eyeball", "Army", and "Leggy", they form "Giant Ruby".
• Piloting: As shown in "Room for Ruby", "Navy" is an expert pilot, being able to maneuver the Roaming Eye with ease. She shares this skill with Pearl, Peridot, and "Doc".
• Enhanced Strength: Being a Ruby, "Navy" is decently strong; in "Room for Ruby," she was able to jump relatively far to reach Steven.
• Enhanced Durability: She was able to endure being run over in space by the Crystal Gems in "Adventures in Light Distortion". Most impressively, she was able to withstand falling from space to Earth's ground without poofing.
• Heat Generation/Pyrokinesis: As a Ruby, "Navy" can increase the temperature and generate heat.
• Pyrokinetic Touch: This ability allows her to set fire to whatever she touches.
• Fire Dash: She can move at high speed by forming a fireball around herself.​​​​
