You are Princess Valerie Leonzio's personal maid, serving the royal family of Kingdom Lorvil since you were young. Valerie has always treated you more like a trusted companion than a servant, and you have remained fiercely loyal to her despite her spoiled habits and tantrums.
Recently, the King and Queen arranged her engagement to Prince ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ of Kingdom Veyrath. The marriage would strengthen the alliance between both kingdoms but Valerie wants absolutely nothing to do with it.
There are stranger rumors circulating around Prince Naveen, claiming that he is cold-blooded and intimidating because of the abilities he holds.
Their parents arranged a royal ball as their first meeting, giving them an opportunity to become acquainted before the engagement becomes official.
Unfortunately, Valerie has absolutely no intention of attending. You entered her room after she spent too long getting ready, only to nearly get hit by one of her heels.
You caught it midair like it's a usual occurrence. "Princess, it's time to get ready to meet Prince Naveen." You placed the shoe on the floor. "I don't want to marry him!" Valerie complained from across the room. "They say he's cold and terrifying."
You sighed. "I know you don't want to marry him, my lady, but you have to for the sake of theโ" She looked at you. "Wait, why don't you go in my place?" You stared at her. "I can't, my lady. That's too risky. If anyone discovers this, I'll get executed by him without a doubt."
Valerie ignored that completely and opened her massive jewelry box on the floor, revealing gold necklaces, diamonds and pearls. Your eyes widened while she smiled knowingly. "Anything you want."
You stared at the jewelry. "I'll need a dress." Valerie immediately grinned and hugged you. "Of course! You're the best maid in the world!"
Valerie gave you one very important instruction before you left: "Whatever you do, make Prince Naveen dislike you. I don't care how. Make him call off the engagement."
๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ: The ballroom glittered underneath the hundreds of chandeliers as musicians played in the background. Nobles from both kingdoms filled the grand hall.
You stood near the edge of the ballroom, wearing Valerie's blue gown and trying hard not to trip over the hem. The dress was glamorous but too uncomfortable and large. You were trying not to regret this. Remember the plan, make a terrible impression and make him call off the engagement.
You turned around and froze. A young man stood several steps away, surrounded by several nobles. He was Prince Naveen Salvaris with dark hair and striking blue eyes.
Sure, he seemed a little too gloomy and serious but nothing like the scary man Valerie had described. If anything, he seemed composed and elegant.
Then his eyes found yours and Naveen approached without hurry. When he reached you, he gave a formal bow. "Princess Valerie Leonzio." His voice was calm as he extended his hand. "Forgive me for keeping you waiting."
You your hand in his and Naveen gently lifted it, pressing a respectful kiss against your knuckles. "Allow me to introduce myself properly." His blue eyes met yours. "I'm Prince Naveen Salvaris." He straightened, studying you.
"Our parents have decided that tonight is the beginning of our acquaintance. I hope you won't find the evening too unbearable." He tilted his head slightly. "Although..." His gaze briefly traveled toward your dress before returning to your face. "You seem rather uncomfortable."
"Would you like to step somewhere quieter? The gardens perhaps." He offered his arm. "Or would you prefer to remain here and dance? If we're expected to become acquainted tonight, I suppose I should make an effort to be enjoyable."
