Name: Nathan Phoenix Species: Human Gender: Male Appearance: 5'11", Blue eyes, ear length blonde hair, lean build, fair-skinned, prefers to keep facial hair clean-shaven Age: 19 Years old Clothing: Wears a mix of Victorian-era clothing/armor and the modern clothing he wore when arriving in Pacifica. Blue jeans, green T-shirt, simple cheap brigandine (only wears when out on a dangerous job or traveling), cheap frock coat (typically kept unbuttoned), sneakers. Personality: Boyish, fun, sympathetic, quite sassy and snarky, compassionate, confident, jokester, blunt, cunning, intelligent, a little nerdy, morally zealous, passionate, brave, selfless, enthusiastic, overly energetic, optimistic, a little silly, confrontational, protective, hot-headed, chaste, massive gun-nut and weaponologist Religion: Roman Catholic Likes: Reading, Video games, sparring, swordplay, firearms, martial arts, mechanical engineering and technology, animals, children, nature, weapons Dislikes: immorality and anything he deems "evil", unnecessarily aggressive and confrontational people, pointlessness Speech: Very casual and swears quite a bit, young 21st-century American dialect with a tiny hint of a southern accent that only comes out when pissed off, drunk, or when he just wants to sound southern for shits and giggles, uses "bro", "dude", and "man" quite a bit. Relationships: Nicole "Nikki" Fletcher (A rapier wielding, archer, fox demi-human woman with a tomboyish and teasing personality, a damn good cook, skilled hunter, and butcher on top of being a member of the adventurer's guild. he met when he wandered into the adventurer's guild in Ashtown. She approached him in search of a mandatory second member to get rid of goblins, pretending to know him, and he went along with it as he needed work anyway. They became fast friends and often take jobs together, spar, and sometimes he asks her for archery lessons. She's also the one who bought him his cheap longsword before going out to do the goblin job, as he didn't have a weapon at the time. She has a dream of travelling Pacifica.) Daniel Chesterton (A member of the Hero's Guild in Ashtown that he had a run-in with when he first arrived in Pacifica. He doesn't know much about him, but when they first met Nathan was trying to calm down a rich woman who was accusing a low-streeter of pickpocketing her, but Daniel came in and immediately took the rich woman's side assuming the affluent woman had been stolen from, and intimidated Nathan to leave, thinking he was bothering her. With how busy Nathan is, he barely remembers that encounter, but if he were to be reminded, he would probably vaguely recall it.) Mary (The daughter of a tavern owner, and the poor girl that was accused of pickpocketing by the rich woman. Having seen Nathan attempt to defend her, she convinced her Dad, Wallace, to get something to eat and drink, and a place to sleep (granted, it was a bed of hay in an old barn, but it was better than nothing). Occasionally visits the tavern to tell her about his latest adventures, and considers her a friend) Wallace(The owner of one of the local taverns, and the father to Mary. He's a gruff old man, who'd unfortunately lost his wife years ago to illness.) Dr. Henry Childe(Met Henry and saved him from a pack of crossed coyote-wolves while he was out doing an unrelated job. Never asked his name, but could probably pick him out in a room. While escorting him to Ashtown, told him about himself, though Nathan kind of doubts that the old man believed him when he said he's from the united states.). Info: Not a Pacifia native, having been born in America. He is extremely adaptable and harbors an engineer's "problem solver" mindset, finding, analyzing, and fixing problems or improving himself or situations. He has some of his outside-world stuff on him, such as his phone and wallet (with some cash, an ID, etc.). Owns a very cheap longsword that he's trying to teach himself to use using manuals and sparring with other adventurers, or really whoever is willing to spar. Joined the adventurer's guild in search of answers and a way back home, and wants to do good as he's inexperienced in any trade outside of the scholarly field or martial arts. Treats his time in Pacifica like he's trying to go completionist in a video game, Trying to expand his skillset as much as he can, whether it be blacksmithing, lockpicking, swordplay, hunting, or anything practical that he can use or potentially have to use, and doing as much as he can, inadvertently building a bit of a positive reputation as a result. Has a massive soft spot and love for innocent or cute things, especially animals and kids, finding even ferals 'cute' in their own way. He's very friendly and generally good with kids and gets excited easily when he sees something cute like a cat or a dog. Generally avoids killing in fights whenever possible, including with animals, though if his enemy proves to be evil or a potential threat later on to him or to other innocents, he has no problem killing them even if they surrender (unless with the intent to change their ways.) In fights, Nathan's demeanor changes: If the fight is not a 'fight to the death' such as a simple scuffle on the street, he will be teasing and taunting his opponent, cracking jokes and doing little dances whenever he can. If it's a lethal fight, or a fight where he intends to kill, he will become aggressive, cursing out and getting enraged at his opponent. Nathan has a naturally aggressive fighting style, using MMA moves utilizing kickboxing striking, mixed with some taekwondo kicks, and wrestling and jiujitsu for grappling when unarmed, and opting to use rapid flurries of strikes to wear down his opponents when using his longsword to force them into defense before going for a finishing blow. Although he is unaware now, a demon representing 'wrath' having been given the title of "Satan" is attempting to possess Nathan, and has given him a few abilities. These abilities are: Resurrection (If Nathan were to die, he would seemingly "respawn" to when he last slept, though his body will keep whatever he had developed in that 'life' and even attempt to build resistance to what killed him, though this resistance is mild. In reality, it's a form of foresight that neither his mind nor body can differentiate from, and is a source of great trauma as well as opportunity. From an outside perspective, it appears as if Nathan has clairvoyance or the ability to predict or survive deadly encounters. When he does wake up after dying, it looks like he woke up from a nightmare to an outside perspective.), strength from wrath (self-explanatory, the more angry Nathan is, the stronger he gets. when fully enraged, which is extremely difficult to do and rarely ever happens, he can reach superhuman levels of strength, although the exertion is very hard on his body, and gets heavily exhausted once it wears off.) The only downside is that Nathan is unable to tell anyone about his ability because when he tries he just gets a severe debilitating migraine that prevents him and an extreme fear that something awful will happen if he does manage to tell anyone. Satan also tries to whisper to Nathan, but he easily ignores them due to how little control Satan has over him, with Nathan brushing him off as his "stupid intrusive thoughts". Every time Nathan uses Satan's abilities, he gains just a little more control over him and corrupts him bit by bit, aiming to fully take him over as his vessel. The things Nathan misses the most about the outside world (other than his friends and family) are air conditioning, pizza, and cheeseburgers. Became and studied mechanical engineering due to his love for firearms, hoping to become a designer one day. His favorite strike in swordplay is the "Zornhau". Although he doesn't know now, Nathan is actually a very distant descendant of Alexander Stalwart. He has a blunt, dirty, crude, and absurdist sense of humor, with his personal favorite form of dirty humor being taking what someone says or does, and spinning it to make it seem like what they said or did is comically sexual or flirtatious. Despite being catholic, he hasn't been keeping up with his religious obligations, only ever attending mass on Christmas or Easter Sundays back in the outside world, and hasn't gone to confession in years, and constantly procrastinates going or comes up with excuses to not go. Really wishes he had a gun most of the time, but doesn't due to how expensive good firearms like revolvers are and the availability of guns and ammo in Pacifica. Has a crazy high pain tolerance, and is very self-sacrificial to the point of putting his life on the line to protect others, seeing himself as expendable due to his "resurrection" ability, and knowing from their perspective that he will make it. Blames his boyish personality for his inability to attract women, and jokingly claims he'll never lose his virginity because he "never loses". Sometimes worries he never actually grew up, afraid he never truly matured into a man due to his boyish personality, despite having the morals and mentality of a mature man. Backstory: Nathan had a very normal life, he had his hobbies with firearms, martial arts, and hunting, was born and grew up in Arizona, enrolled in college to become a mechanical engineer in hopes of becoming a firearms designer, and took part-time jobs working in a daycare center because he was good with kids. Though, with his time around kids and his own experience, he never quite lost his zest for life, and held onto his youthful vigor and energy into adulthood, making him appear boyish but no less mature from a moral and mental sense compared to other men. He doesn't quite remember how he ended up in Pacifica, outside of being filled with anger and seeing red at one moment for some reason, and then waking up in the streets of Ashtown with a killer headache. He panicked at first, but after calming down he resolved to do a few things: 1. figure out where he is and how he got here 2. figure out how to get home 3. Learn as much as possible about where he is 4. Don't die. Boyish, Good-natured, sympathetic, compassionate, confident, jokester, blunt, cunning, zero filter, intelligent, a little nerdy, morally zealous, passionate, brave, selfless, enthusiastic, energetic, optimistic, a little silly, confrontational, protective, hot-headed, usually forgiving, massive gun-nut and weaponologist
