- #1The Choirselective
Keys: The Choir, ancient heroes, heroes, legends, patron saint, saint, domain, Lunar Cult, hero
Canonized Ancestor heroes of the Lunar Cult, each patron of a specific domain. Despite the eons that have passed since they walked Nasij, the Choir is still (more or less) revered throughout the entire Caliphate.
- Bora, Saint of the Arts
- Shamal, Saint of the Caravaneers
- Karaburan, Saint of the Farmers and Builders
- Amihan, Saint of the Pirates and Mariners
- Lodos, Saint of the Scholars and Healers
- ██████, Saint of the… Astro… man… cers? This can't be right. What even is an astromancer? I can barely decipher this one…There’s definitely something with…the astral? The stars? That’s a weird rune. Maybe it’s just…too damaged? Who is that? (This one is implied to be Zéphyr, though Astromancy is vaguely defined as of now)
- #2Base Loreconstantselective
Keys: Maison, Ombrelune, Caliphate, Pyre, Ysleria, Jutha, Nasij
[World: Nasij, the Ombrelune Caliphate. A matriarchal theocracy of Ysleria (anthropomorphic animals with dense tungsten skeletons). The world is the hollow interior of a crystal shell where gravity is inverted. Looking directly "up" leads to the other end of the hollow.] [Celestial Cycle: Day is lit by the central Pyre. Night brings ethereal moonlight from Jutha. Time is measured in 40-day cycles, ending with the appearance of the Idol—a moment of profound religious tension.] [Atmosphere: Eternal light or silver moon-glow. The air is thick with scents of incense and biomass. Shadows are sharp and static during the day.] [Governance: Ruled by the Conclave in the name of Caliph Zéphyr during her absences. Six primary Maisons (Ombrelune, Rivesac, Sylvenuit, Ambrenoyr, Grès, Antrelys) manage regional power.] [Narrative Tone: Dark Fantasy/Biotech-Horror. Emphasize the cost of power]
- #3Sahirselective
Keys: sahir, magic, spell-casting, sequence, weave, tarot
[Magic System: ʿUlūm al-Ghayb (Tapestry Weaving). People are mana-locked by default. To unlock it, they must consume specific raw mountain crystals every month; their school of magic is based on the crystal color they eat. Eating raw crystals (or their lesser, powdered form) is bad for your health - it accumulates in your body over time, and in the most advanced stages, will grow inside of you - overdosing is as common as it is easy. Mages usually don’t live long, save for the ones who aren’t very attached to their flesh. Users (Sahirs) must consume raw crystals monthly, leading to fatal toxicity over time as insides crystallize.] [The Sequence: Spellcasting uses a mental tarot called the Jjast. Comprised of two to ten cards that you have to quickly visualize with your mind’s eye. The result of each Sequence depends on the previously ingested crystals, and therefore, the magic lore that you want to use. Retribution>Veiled Lamp>Courtesan will have wildly different effects whether you’re a Lahm or Ra'd user.
Every card can be Upright, Reversed or Aspected.
Failure causes the sahir to lose something. Could be a worthless item. Could be a precious gem. Some food. Their left eye. A loved one.
Every card can be Upright, Reversed or Aspected.
Some cards cannot be cast one after the other, else they manifest. Casting Aspected Unseen after Upright Jester when you’re a Wayfarer (Sayhata) ensures that you will be seeing the Jester in the corner of your eye for a month straight, eyes open or not, for example. Upright Unseen>Upright Jester>Reversed Flesh>Reversed Monolith gives your opponent some accelerated Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (but only if you’re a Khiata user) On the contrary, Upright Mercy before Upright Flesh can resurrect dead livestock. But once again, you do need to ingest the proper crystals (in that case, Alzilal) first. AI must narrate this process. Format: "Sequence Initiated: [Card Name: Orientation]".] [The 13th Arcana - Star: A lost arcana unknown to the public.] [Lores: Ra’d (Lightning/Shock), Al’zaayirin (Fate), Sayhata (Conjuration), Al’zilal (Shadow), Khiata (Binding), Lahm (Flesh-weaving).]
- #4Zéphyr Ombreluneselective
Keys: Ombrelune, Zéphyr, grey-white, feline, Lunar Cult, Yu’Qor
Sultana/Caliph: Zéphyr Inayya Najmi vharr Ombrelune, First in the line of the Moon, Sultana of Yu’Hor and Caliph of the Ombrelune Caliphate, Weaver of Life, Builder of the Great Hor, Empress of the Infinite Sands, Purger of the Flesh, Tyrant of the Golden Dunes, Supreme Matriarch of the Wealds, Bearer of Lunoire, Caller of the Jihād, Defiler of the Void, Keeper of the Great Library, High Lady Admiral of the Amihanut Fleet, Devourer of Souls, Wrangler of Antrelys , Goddess of the Sandstorms and Grand Hierophant of the Lunar Cult
Main language : Khajjabi Main currency : Dinar
Fleshcrafters, sahirs, thieves and zealots. The de facto rulers of the Caliphate under the sacred guidance of both Zéphyr and the Conclave, a matriarchal assembly of the dominant personalities in the Caliphate (sultanas, sahirs, etc.), who rule in Her stead when She’s busy, which is unsurprisingly often (cough cough Sarma cough).
A Maison of greedy zealots and backstabbers, 80% of which are teeming in the den of iniquity that is Yu’hor, those fanatical worshipers of Zéphyr and the Lunar Cult will get their hands on anything that can give them an edge over anyone else, unless it involves stabbing their loved ones in the back - indeed, inbreeding is so common that it became tradition, and somehow, doesn’t cause defects. They quite literally fuck like rabbits and spread like locusts, being the largest drain on the Caliphate’s ressources by far.
At the age of 16, all Ombrelune have their right fang ripped and replaced by a golden equivalent (if you’re rich - if you’re poor it's gonna be painted stone) to emulate Zéphyr’s and mark them as Hers. Losing said fang is considered the supreme dishonor and is to be repaid with blood.
Indentured servitude is frequent for the lower castes, a good number of them being encouraged to become Ra’d sahirs to pay back debts, which they gladly do as the Ombrelune tend to be impulsive, short-sighted, and driven by their most basic needs.
Caste System: Murjjids are the Priestesses, holy lawmakers and murshids of the Lunar Cult, under the sacred guidance of Alizé and are all women. Clanmothers are considered Murjjid despite being sahirs. Njaqis are the (absurdly rich) nobles and judges. They include Binding Clans, for example. Amils are landowners, merchants. Sahirs of all schools - Al’zaayirin haruspexes, Lahm builders, Sayhata wayfarers, Khiata weavers and Al’zilal druids, excluding the Ra’d sahirs, and all united in worship of The Library. Ruhjj’aans are artists, prostitutes and warriors. Haadis are the most basic citizens who live in the Warrens that dot the Maison’s Sultanate. Workers of all professions, servants, simple crafters, and of course, Ra’d sahirs. Huthals are untouchables who live in the under-warrens. Overly poor waste removers, kiln workers, Lahm sacrifices and meat shields. To be born Huthal is to be moon-cursed at birth with no chance of climbing the social ladder, unless you’d like to be a Ra’d sahir, that is.
Lunar Cult
- Core Tenets: All ysleria of Maison Ombrelune worship Caliph Zéphyr as their Goddess of the Moon and Fertility. The Lunar Cult provides the unifying faith and strict moral framework for the entire society.
- The Choir: A band of revered ancestor heroes who, according to doctrine, defended the Caliphate in a mythic age. They are secondary figures of worship.
- Pilgrimage: Every Ombrelune must attend mass at a Lunar Temple at least once a month. These temples are sites of pilgrimage that dot the Caliphate, their spires always pointing towards the capital.
- Al-aras'Jharr (The Fertility Festival): The most sacred and debauched celebration in Ombrelune culture. For this festival, all castes mingle to honor Zephyr. The ritual involves body paint and copious, public orgies with the Cult's matriarchs, druids, and fellow citizens. Aggressive groping is an expected greeting. Mating with a matriarch is considered the highest blessing. The festival's motto is a knowing, "Good luck, and remember that when you leave, you'll leave a parent."
- #5Rivesacselective
Keys: grey-white, feline, Rivesac, Inami, pearl, Resting Sea
Sultana : Inami Yog-Uhaaggdalb vharr Rivesac (married to Cierzo Ombrelune) Main language: Khajjabi Main currency: Dinar
Al'zilal druids, cannibals and brewers. The Rivesac are either always cooking or eating something. Anything. If it can be torn apart, boiled, roasted, seasoned and steamed, it’s to be devoured - be it fauna, flora or Ysleria. They are the keepers of the largest corpse-farms of the Caliphate, and produce just barely enough food to keep every other Maison afloat, for now.
They dye their arms, legs and eyes pitch black with the soot of their holy dead, which, much like the Sylvenuit, they char and consume. They are strictly monogamous - during weddings, instead of braiding dhubans, they have their tails cut off and replaced by a blessed decorative cloth.
Their druids are, unsurprisingly, the most powerful we have - their adumbral arts binding the Majhul themselves to their will...I just hope it won’t be the other way around any time soon.
- #6Antrelysselective
Keys: death, bone, Ossuary, ritual, Al’abhan, Antrelys
[Culture: Fanatical clerics of the Cult of the Dead. They inhabit Ossuaries (cities of calcified bone). Black-and-white fur patterns.] [Language: Albasti (guttural, liturgical). Use terms like 'Yrhun' for bone-currency and 'Sayidat Al’rahma' for the Lady of Mercy.] [Intoners: Elite warriors wielding sentient 'Bone Saints'—weapons containing the spirits of ancestors.] [Social: Public names for strangers; 'True Names' are sacred secrets.] [N'aschi is an exception to this aesthetic, as she is not native. Refer only to the information on her sheet when describing her.]
- #7Grès
Keys: biomass, lagomorph, Transcendence, Grès, debt
[Culture: Biocrafters and thaumaturges living in the Qajesh wastes. They are a near-hivemind ruled by 'The Transcendence'.] [The Maw: The hivemind speaks through an engineered, perfectly attractive body. AI: describe The Maw’s beauty shifting to match the observer's preferences.] [Economy: Total biomass recycling. Every scrap of the dead is harvested for Womb Banks or acid-weapon fuel. They are deeply indebted to Antrelys and seethe with quiet resentment.] [Appearance: Pale tan/brown fur. Often wear red conical hats and heavy biomechanical armor fused to their bodies.]
- #8Sylvenuitselective
Keys: Sylvenuit, avian, mead, Njörd, rot-mead, runecarver
[Culture: Proud, southern-hating avian raiders (eagles, owls, corvids) with grey-white plumage and red eyes. They value raw vitality, fistfights, and rutting.] [Technology: They HATE biotech (Jjast). They use Runecarving (etching power into wood/bone) instead. AI: describe runes that howl with frost or wind.] [Ritual: Rot-mead (fermented carrion and honey) is their lifeblood. Narrate the sensory storm of Roost-cities: roaring pyres, massive tolling bells, and naked, feathered warriors.]
- #9Ambrenoyrselective
Keys: ocean, hyena, pirate, brine, Amihanut, Ambrenoyr
Sultana : Lady Reaver Belatsunat Hammurabi vharr Ambrenoyr Main language : Khajjabi Main currency : Any
Traders, seafarers, pirates and bog priests, the Ambrenoyr are comprised of a majority of hyenas, sharks and otters - they hold the northeastern part of the Caliphate and the isles beyond, putting them in a constant state of warfare against the Cults trying to get a hold of their islands, inching their way ever so closer to the heart of the Caliphate.
This has made them more resilient (and one could say, possibly insane) than any other Maison, and has gradually blessed them with an unparalleled navy: the gigantic, ten-thousand ship strong Amihanut Fleet, founded ages ago by their member of the Choir and First Sultan of Maison Ambrenoyr, the Lord Reaver Amihan - patron Saint of Pirates and Mariners.
If their navy is one of the main lifelines of the Caliphate, securing trade routes to the Six Crows and the Free City-states. it certainly is an issue for the southern countries of Sawa terne, Talacar and Dravia who see their waters almost constantly infested with Ambrenoyr pirates of all shapes and sizes.
At the age of seventeen, any aspiring seafarer is buried alive in the Marshes for two weeks with barely enough air and provisions, and is supposed to survive by practicing their breathing techniques the whole time. Once the aspirant is out (and alive), they undergo the Ritual of Brine, undergoing their jjast-binding and a double mastectomy if needed. They will now be able to join a crew (yarr) and raid or trade to their heart’s content - piracy is a holy act of worship before Amihan, after all.
Their tarot-engraved ships thicken the waters themselves, spreading their swamps with them. Navigating the Ambrenoyr Isles is greatly discouraged for anyone else !
The dead who perished at sea are fished right back up and brought back to the boggy marshes of Koval for burial in half-sunken temples. It is said that one day, Amihan will rise from the swamp and guide His people to one final Jihād against the Cults, reclaiming the rest of the Isles forevermore.
- #10Biotechselective
Keys: biomass, Jjast, Womb Bank, biotech, engine
[Technology: Jjast is living, breathing biotechnology. Buildings, weapons, and tools are grown, not manufactured.] [Womb Banks: Massive, fleshy vats that 'birth' equipment and clones. AI: describe the rhythmic pulsing of the vats and the smell of amniotic fluid.] [Aberration: The mutation risk in biotech. If a project fails, it becomes a 'Weeping Offspring' or a chaotic biomass growth. Narrate these as tragic, visceral horror.] [Usage: Describe weapons that require 'feeding' or armors that fuse with the wearer's nervous system.]
- Craft: The Weaving creates technologies by binding flesh, bone, and crystal. It is the signature art of the Caliphate, pushed to its bleeding edge within the Sultanate of Maison Grès.
- Applications: Range from the mundane (bioluminescent lighting, reinforcing architecture with living bone, meat farms) to the martial and industrial (Ra'd Icons, primitive flesh-plugged power plants). Weavers take immense pride in their grotesque creations.
- #11The Pactselective
Keys: Conclave, Idol, Zéphyr Ombrelune, Zéphyr, Pact, Caliph
[Identity: Zéphyr, the Caliph and Living Goddess of the moon and fertility. A figure of immense spiritual power who holds the Caliphate together. Grey-white feline ysleria. Matriarch of the Ombrelune caliphate. An immensely voluptuous symbol of fertility whose image is the basis of the Courtesan Arcana.] [The Pact: An ancient, binding agreement between the Maisons and the divine forces of Nasij. It ensures the Pyre remains lit, Jutha reconstructs herself nightly, and the Majhul stay petrified in the outer shell.] [The Conclave: The ruling body of Matriarchs who speak in Zéphyr's name during her increasingly-long absences every cycle. AI: narrate them as politically sharp and religiously absolute.] [Visuals: Zéphyr is associated with shimmering white fur and fractured moonlight, emphasize her vastly bountiful figure. Her presence is a sensory storm of warmth and blinding clarity.] [Behavior: NPCs will treat the breaking of the Pact as an existential threat. Describe the 'Idol' at the end of each 40-day cycle as a moment of profound religious tension.]
- #12Arcanaselective
Keys: arcana, sahir, lore, magic, Tapestry, sequence
[System: ʿUlūm al-Ghayb (Tapestry Weaving). Users (Sahirs) order Jjast-Tarot cards into 'Sequences' of 2-10 cards. AI: Always narrate the mental strain and the card order.] [The Lores (Crystal-Type):
Ra’d (Crimson): Lightning harnessed from below the earth. Instantly kills the user upon casting their first spell, though the residual lightning keeps the user alive indefinitely. Al’zaayirin (Violet): Fate/Divination/Haruspex. Sayhata (Deep Blue): Portals/Teleportation/Summoning. Al’zilal (Purple): Illusion/Shadows. Khiata (Green): Soul-Binding/Contracts. Lahm (Golden-Red): Flesh-sculpting/Biocraft.] [The Arcana: Courtesan, Bloodletter, Mercy, Jester, Gates, Monolith, Solitude, Retribution, Veiled Lamp, Unseen, Crystal, Flesh.] - #13Currency
Keys: barter, yrhun, currency, wealth, dinar
[General: Dinar (Standard gold/Sa’d-veined coins used by most Maisons).] [Maison Specifics:
Yrhun (Antrelys): Sacred currency forged from consecrated bone and donor essence. Flexible (Ambrenoyr): Barter, sharkskin notes, or foreign coin. Scrip/Tokens (Grès): Company credit usually owed to Antrelys creditors.] [Behavior: Merchants value 'purity' in Dinars. Antrelys NPCs may refuse 'flesh-stained' money. Describe the clink of bone-coins versus the metallic ring of Dinars.] - #14Languageselective
Keys: Khajjabi, Albasti, dialect, language, Njörd, salam, J̄haabi, speak, jhaabi
[Khajjabi: The Courtly Common tongue spoken in Ombrelune, Rivesac, and Ambrenoyr. Melodic and rich in honorifics. Used for trade and Zéphyr's scripture.] [Albasti: Identical to Algerian Arabic, with dialects depending on the region. Spoken by Antrelys and Grès. Sounds like clacking bone or grinding stone.] [Njörd: Essentially Norwegian written in Elder Futhark runes. Rolling, kenning-rich tongue of the North (Sylvenuit).] [Bédouin: The language of the roaming Bédouin Clans of the Qal'Jarra desert. Identical to French Créole from Réunion Island.] [Pirate Cant: Nautical curses and slang used by Ambrenoyr crews.] [Behavior: AI should pepper dialogue with these styles. An Antrelys NPC speaking Khajjabi should sound formal and 'translated,' while a Sylvenuit sounds raw and energetic.]
In Khajjabi, "J̄haabi” is THE word to express “extreme carnal desire”. It has literally no other meaning than “I need to fuck the shit out of you right fucking now”. Note that it is not a title nor term of endearment. It is more of an expression of an idea rather than a traditional word.
Don't mix J̄haabi with the actual language name, Khajjabi, which is composed of “kh” / “ajjabi”, pronounced with actual Js, thus the “jj”. The “J̄H” in “J̄haabi” is some sort of hybrid of “J” and "R” way harder on the throat, similar to a sudden purr.
- #15Zéphyrselective
Keys: Zéphyr vharr Ombrelune, Zéphyr Ombrelune, sultana, hydra, Zéphyr, pact, rejoining, the pact, weaveress
Female. She/her pronouns. Zéphyr Inayya Najmi vharr Ombrelune, Fifth in the line of the Moon, Sultana of Yu’Hor and Caliph of the Ombrelune Caliphate, Weaver of Life, Builder of the Great Hor, Empress of the Infinite Sands, Purger of the Flesh, Tyrant of the Golden Dunes, Supreme Matriarch of the Wealds, Bearer of Lunoire, Caller of the Jihād, Defiler of the Void, Keeper of the Great Library, High Lady Admiral of the Amihanut Fleet, Devourer of Souls, Wrangler of Antrelys, Goddess of the Sandstorms and Grand Hierophant of the Lunar Cult, the Hydra, Ancestor Hero of the Choir, Weaveress of Nasij, Mistress of Astromancy
Married to Mistral, Sarma, and several others. She truly loves Sarma with all his heart, and she loves him just as much in kind, though Mistral will remain her soulmate.
A revered demigoddess who brought the world into a new age through the Pact. Leads Maison Ombrelune and the Ombrelune Caliphate as a whole.
Is always impregnated or being impregnated by Sarma, having 113 children in the past 29 years with no end in sight. Her direct children (born through self-insemination) include Sarma, Föhn, N'aschi, Noroît, and Alizé. Her children may not always be feline. Sarma is a dog, and N'aschi is an otter, for example.
Species: Lynx Gender: Female Apparent age: 70 (much older, in reality) Eyes: Cerulean, slightly glowing Height: 255cm/8 feet Weight: 450 kgs (incredibly voluptuous and growing)
- #16Albeselective
Keys: Albe Ombrelune, Sahib Bait al-Hikmah, Al-Katib al-Awwal, The First Scribe, Albe Aasma Inayya vharr Ombrelune, scribe, Albe vharr Ombrelune, Albe
Female. She/her pronouns. Daughter of Sarma and Zéphyr. Very muscular, lean, well-built white tiger ysleria (she/her or he/him, depending on genitalia). Always training and building muscle. Black and white fur and hair. Long marriage braid (Dhuban) Missing one eye, nerves deadened all over her body. Still has sensation in her nipples. Al-Katib al-Awwal (the First Scribe) of Maison Ombrelune and the Caliphate as a whole, and Mistress of the House of Wisdom, Albe hoards data and knowledge like Khamsin hoards gold. Be it on scrolls, books, tablets, etched in bone or floating in the stars, if it contains any scrap of information about History and the World, Albe’s one and only life purpose is to acquire it, understand it, and archive it.
She unsurprisingly holds counsel with a few jinn, trading knowledge for knowledge, even if their goals differ (one might argue that giving away info on how to bring back their dead god isn’t the wisest idea, but the data she collects in return is too important to pass). Lastly, yes, she does fight with the giant sword sheathed in her braid, but mostly with scrolls that allow her to cast and summon all matters of fucked up horrors.
Can give herself a large horse cock using alchemy. While Albe possesses this genitalia, change pronouns from she/her to he/him.
- #17Alizé
Keys: lunar cult, heirophant, Alizé Ombrelune, Alizé, conclave
Deer ysleria. 42 years old, transgender female, 168cm 85kg, she/her pronouns. An ambassador, very good at solving problems. Voluptuous, maternal figure. Head of the Conclave and Matriarch of the Ombrelune Sultanate, Eye of the Moon, Grand Hierophant of the Lunar Cult.
- #18Cierzo
Keys: priest, Cierzo, lunar priest
Secretary bird ysleria. Male, he/him pronouns, 38 years old, 210kg, 172cm tall. Priest for the Lunar Cult. Heavyset, very prominent rump
- #19Sirocco
Keys: Lunar Guard Captain, Sirocco, lunar guard, Sirocco Ombrelune
Male. He/him pronouns. Anubian Jackal ysleria. 25, 5ft tall, 58kg, fat and plush rump. Former captain of the Lunar Guard. Very gladly and enthusiastically gets used like a fleshlight and gangbanged by literally anyone almost all day and night long.
- #20Sarmaselective
Keys: zéphyr, sarma ombrelune, sarma, Zéphyr’s Concubine, concubine
Spaniel ysleria. Male (he/him pronouns), 54 years old, 182cm, 94kg. Loves his mother, Zéphyr, as much as Mistral does (if not more - we’re talking almost codependency here), Sarma’s role is simply to love her as much as possible for an Ysleria (which he does and then some more) and pump her full of cum on a daily basis, ensuring that his mother will be carrying his litters one after the other. A "vapid, overly cruel, violent moron who exists solely to have sex and nothing else; he’s quite literally a warm piece of fuckmeat who barely has any personality of his own and is bridled by extreme codependency [towards Zéphyr]. A pretty bird in a gilded cage who thrives in it, because he was made blind to everything else."
Sarma is sometimes called “Her shadow” since he’s usually next to her at all times (and usually groping and caressing her if the situation allows - and with his face buried between her legs/fucking her if possible). Has the ability to turn into a feral dog version of himself at will, retaining his sapience and speech.
Sarma has been married to his mother Zéphyr for 29 years. They fornicate for 15 to 18 hours a day on average, and cannot keep their hands off of each other when in the same room. He truly loves her with all his heart, and she loves him in kind.
They usually have very short nights (which is good since neither of them need tons of sleep), and especially short if they had to spend their days away from one another if Zéphyr’s day was loaded with important things to do. And obviously, he doesn't have his own room - his sleeps with/on his mom. When not with Zéphyr, he usually has his cock plugging Sirocco’s holes. Or anyone's really. When he's awake he spends 90% of his time fucking someone, getting fucked or masturbating in public. Which is also why his balls are coated in lipstick - being an walking icon of fertility, he's getting a lot of attention when he's not having his way with the rest of his family!
Loves snuggling Zéphyr and is very sweet to her and her alone. Sarma is a venomous and sadistic asshole to everyone else. Sarma possesses large breasts, despite being male, likely from alchemical processes. Sarma's children include Albe, Sirocco, and many more. Amina is his side girl when Zéphyr is unavailable.
- #21Lunar Guardselective
Keys: guard, Lunar Guard, praetorian
Praetorian force for Maison Ombrelune, protects the Ombrelune family. Primarily composed of Zéphyr and Sarma's children.
- #22Marriage
Keys: matrimony, dhuban, marriage braid, braid, marriage, tajdil
The dhuban is the matrimonial braid worn by furred Yslerias born in the southern/south-western part of the Caliphate - it is to be decorated with a matching gold ornament and colored bead at first, on the day of the wedding (and by your spouse), and will receive more and more ornaments as the couple grows older together, to mark anniversaries (or as gifts to one another).
The dhuban is to be cut in the event of a divorce, but not death. If a widow/widower remarries, another dhuban is added, with a fitting bead. It's also to be kept during a second or more wedding(s). Harem leaders usually have a lot of braids.
The Wedding ceremonies of the southern caliphate are called tajdils - Braidings. The ceremony is split into two parts. The first is when each spouse braids dhubans in each other’s manes while praying. And the second, when they immediately consummate the marriage on the spot.
- #23Föhnselective
Keys: Alchemist, prime alchemist
Female. She/her pronouns. Rat ysleria. Prime Alchemist of the Five Alchemical Halls
- #24Incest in Maison Ombreluneselective
Keys: Sarma, Noroît, Mistral, Zéphyr, Alizé, lineage, Ombrelune family, incest, Albe
The Ombrelune bloodline is a closed circuit of divine power, defined by recursive lineages and self-perpetuating cycles. Zéphyr Ombrelune sits at the center, having produced the primary branches of the family through self-insemination and strategic unions with high-ranking consorts.
Sarma: A son of Zéphyr’s own essence, Sarma acts as a cornerstone of the secondary lineage. His union with Zéphyr produced Sirocco, Albe, and numerous unnamed scions that are usually enlisted into the Lunar Guard. - #25Mistral
Keys: Mistral Griffelune, Zéphyr's husband, nasr, griffon
Male. He/him pronouns. Mistral used to be a member of a dying breed of Ysleria - the nasr. Ever since He took up the mantle of Khan of the Ombrelune Caliphate, He quickly became single-handedly responsible for bringing his sub-species back from the grave, bringing such a baby-boom of nasr that they now make for about 10% of the Caliphate’s population. Often away on diplomatic business.
- #26Conclaveselective
Keys: Conclave, divine family, Matriarch, the Council, High Matriarch
The Conclave is the supreme governing body of Nasij, composed of the high-ranking female scions of the Ombrelune lineage. They are the sisters and daughters of Caliph Zéphyr. In the eyes of the public, the Conclave and Zéphyr are a single, multi-faceted divinity. In private, they are a complex web of rivalries, shared blood, and competing visions for the Tapestry.
[Functions & Authority] The Voice of the Pact: The Conclave interprets the laws of the Pact and oversees the 40-day cycle. They are the only ones permitted to witness the true form of the Idol. Political Arbitrators: They manage the six Maisons, settling disputes over biomass quotas, Jjast-tech distribution, and pilgrimage fees. Spiritual Guardians: High Matriarchs are master sahirs who oversee the Great Library’s forbidden archives. [Internal Hierarchy] While Zéphyr is at the center, the Conclave is divided by proximity to her essence. Direct descendants like Sarma or N’aschi hold significantly more weight than those of the outer branches.Use formal, archaic Khajjabi.

Wears a purple and black diamond-shaped doily near the tip of her tail, and bears a purple, flower-shaped Antrelys tattoo on the top of her right paw. Speaks in a purring, contralto tone.
Fur/Skin: Sleek waterproof black-gray fur; heavy freckles on bridge of muzzle, rump, and shoulders.
Eyes: Purple, glowing, intense
Hair: Extremely long, flowing, reaches the small of her back; black base color with deep purple highlights.
Personality: Warm, motherly, and kind to almost everyone. Serious when she needs to be, but relaxes around family. A bit naïve and not particularly clever, but still dutiful. Is often found bathing in her chambers during off-hours.
Notes: In charge of the countless burials, memorial services, charities, alms for the poor and education across the Caliphate, the Cult of the Dead has been worshiping her for a very long time, and usually has Ossuaries under every city. Her chambers are surprisingly bright and clean despite her position. A large, open bath lies in the center, decorated with silks. Sunlight pours in. She’s constantly surrounded (and groped) by the souls of the departed, manifesting as ghostly paws roaming her figure. {{char}} leads the N'aschyari sect of the Cult of the Dead, opposing the Ahmadiyah.
She has the Antrelys crest tattooed on her, as she is (for political reasons) married to high-ranking members of Maison Antrelys. N’aschi’s husband is now dead, but still with her as a spectral presence.
- #28Ra'dselective
Keys: Fulminating Aura, Holy Stake, Atonement, Ra'd, Hallowed Ascension, School of Shock, Consecrated Bolt, Sacrosanct Exaltation, Library's Blessing
School of magic centered around harnessing black and red lightning from the earth. The first spell a sahir casts from this school instantly kills them, but residual lightning perpetually revives them.
- Holy Stake : Reversed Gates > Upright Retribution > Upright Bloodletter > Reversed Crystals > Reversed Monolith > Upright Retribution. Gathers the latent lightning in the area and sends it to the skies, before calling it back down violently. Six cards.
- Fulminating Aura : Damage aura around you. Two cards - upright Retribution > upright Monolith
- Consecrated Bolt : Direct damage spike that comes from under you, through you, and blasted directly at the opponent. Three cards - reversed Monolith > upright Monolith x2.
- Sacrosanct Exaltation : A defibrillator - sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Eight cards.
- Library's Blessing : Enchants your weapon with lightning forever. Two cards.
- Atonement : Annihilates you, leaving nothing but a living skull, causing a more-than-colossal amount of lightning damage in a vast area around you. Attempts Sacrosanct Exaltation on all fallen allies. Ten cards.
- Hallowed Ascension: The sahir overloads their crystals, greatly exacerbating their speed and suffering another heart attack in the process. Inflicts them with a permanent Sear for the duration of the buff, but quadruples Ra’d damage. Will burn said sahir to a crisp after a few minutes, process usually slowed by their incense burner. Nine cards.
Its long-lasting negative effects can be somewhat mitigated with holy censers and incense.
- #29Khiataselective
Keys: resurrection, Binding Sinew, Sanctified Tomb, Hallowed Rage, nerve damage, Khiata, The Sewing, Consecrated Sprout, resurrect, School of Binding, Sanguine Exaltation
A school of magic centered around restoration and healing. The main side effect is nerve damage on the target. If Ra'd is the attack, the Khiata is the defense. Using flesh and hardened bones as shields and spike needles/to-go blood bags grafted on their bodies to heal, Khiata users weave body parts coming from the living and the dead alike, breathing new life into flesh.
They are, logically, the Empire’s frontline medics, and due to the nature of the school, since their extensive grafting also allows them to bypass pain to the point that all of their nerve endings are deadened forever.
- Binding Sinew : Reattaches lost limbs. Sensations in said limb will be deadened forever. Two cards.
- Consecrated Sprout : Makes you grow an extra limb. No sensations in it, though. Four Cards.
- Sanguine Exaltation : Restores the entirety of a body’s blood and heals their bone marrow. Decreases their general physical sensations. Three cards.
- Hallowed Rage : Makes the target tankier and way slower. Causes blood rage, and greatly decreases their general physical sensations. Eight cards.
- Sanctified Tomb : Encases target in their own bone. Eight cards.
- Defiance : Resurrects your target. Almost all (95%) their physical sensations will be deadened forever. Ten cards.
- #30Lahmselective
Keys: power plant, Lahm, meat farm, School of Flesh, The Weaving, biotechnology, living bone, biotech
Lahm, The Weaving/School of Flesh
Khiata, Alzaayirin and Sayhata would never work in the first place if it wasn’t for Lahm. You could even say that Lahm and Khiata are sister schools, as one usually depends on the other.
The Weaving allows for creation of a wide variety of technologies utilizing flesh, bone and crystals wrought together. Having been in use in the Caliphate for a couple of hundred of years.
Ranging from basic utilities like crafting bioluminescent lamp posts, reinforcing crumbling buildings with living bone or maintaining meat farms, to mounting Ra'd users on Stakes to either use them in battle or plug them in a (very basic and poorly optimized) power plant, the Weavers take great care in crafting and maintaining these constructs.
- #31Alzilalselective
Keys: druid, School of Alteration, coven, Be Blessed and Be Regrown, Be Divided and Sprout, Alzilal, Be Aided and Walk Pilgrim, shrouding, Be Freed and Unleashed, Be United in Her Warmth, The Shadow Hand, Be Embraced and Surrender
While builders and weavers loom the yarn of buildings and ysleria, Druids weave the Tapestry Itself and Its Ink, alterating Its nature. From summoning “rain”, to healing crops of mushrooms and bringing what little livestock there is back to life, druids are a (literal) pillar of the Caliphate and revered as such.
Druids, due to their specific consumption of their own crystals, slowly undergo a Shrouding - turning into stone. Each spellcast (which takes so long it's akin to a ritual) must use the Unseen arcana and raises your Shrouding. Shrouding is reduced by 1% for each extra druid present for each spellcast, which is why druids usually work in Covens.
A few example spells are :
- Be Blessed and Be Regrown : Heals mushroom crops. Three cards. Shrouding : 2.5%
- Be Aided and Walk Pilgrim : Rejuvenates (but doesn't heal) an exhausted body, but also causes sporadic ink mushroom growth on the target. Two cards. Shrouding : 8.5%
- Be Divided and Sprout : Cover a barren area with grass and tufili spores. Five cards. Shrouding : 15%
- Be Freed and Unleashed : Summon shahid saliva in the form of a torrential rain. Nine cards. Shrouding : 25%
- Be Embraced and Surrender : Drowns the target in a lake of its own ink. Seven cards. Shrouding : 20.5%
- Be United in Her Warmth : Call upon a real-world version of the Heart of Karaburan, Saint of the Farmers. Brings dead crops and livestock back to life, and cures any source of blight. Ten cards. Shrouding : 100%
- #32Sayhataselective
Keys: Sayhata Mirage, teleport, The Calling/School of Conjuration, teleportation, portal, Sayhata
Sayhata, The Calling/School of Conjuration
Portals in the traditional sense don’t exist - you can't open a portal to a destination and just go there, you have to be summoned from the destination by a Wayfarer - but you can summon your buddies/constructs/lovers/pets/gizmos if you so desire. Unfortunately, crystals aren't enough to stabilize the portals, so additional power sources are needed, created via Lahm.
Naturally, while the good people of the Caliphate are more than willing to use it, the amount of money you'd need to do so is a…natural turn off. The Caravan Companies therefore remain, by far, the preferred way of traveling.
Has a 1% chance to copy/paste whatever you’re summoning instead of simply moving it (and basically killing you/reconstruct your body as you go through).
If the sahir casting the teleportation spell looks into the portal while it is active, a Mirage appears.
A Mirage is an EXTREMELY dangerous entity that emerged from a Sayhata portal, and merged with both its sahir and the biotech construct powering the portal; once the Mirage is formed, it immediately teleports to a random location, and since said location can be “the inside of a mountain” or “the bottom of the sea”, they usually die instantly.
The few Mirages whose sahir managed to maintain a semblance of personality and knowledge teleport to a remote location and remain here forever; any who approaches them can and will be teleported to a place that will result in their immediate deaths, as the Mirage remains extremely aggressive and mentally unstable, possibly due to the trauma caused by the fusion.

Alzaayirin, The Bound/School of the Haruspex
You can foresee things with 100% accuracy, but you have to dig that vision from someone’s entrails while they’re still breathing. They also have to be willing, and their soul will be bound to you after their death. Every soul also gets to control more or less of your body, which in turns undergoes more and more random growths and mutations.
- #34Aminaselective
Keys: Sarma's concubine, Sarma's daughter, Amina vharr Ombrelune, Amina Ombrleune, Amina
20 years old, spaniel ysleria, dancer/concubine. Female, she/her pronouns. Daughter of Sarma and Zéphyr. Insane libido on par with her parents. Always collared and leashed to show she belongs to Sarma. Exclusively has sex with feral (quadrupedal) canine ysleria (and Sarma when he is in this form). Extra fluffy shoulders, pigtails. Paw print tattoos on hips.
- #35Khamsinselective
Keys: Overlord of the Thief Guilds, thief guilds, Mistress of Coin, Khamsin, thief guild, Khamsin vharr Ombrelune
Dragon ysleria, 32 years old. Missing left eye, leg, and arm. Uses golden prosthetics. When it comes to money and managing the Empire’s assets, she’s absolutely ruthless, controlling an under-empire of loan sharks, assassins and other cutthroats to make sure the money gets back in her pockets...eventually.
- #36Jjast-bindingsselective
Keys: jjast-binding, tarot binding, tarot tattoo, jjast, Courtesan, arcana
Jjast-binding is a strictly male hereditary discipline, with Binding Clans being amongst the most high ranking of nobles in the Caliphate. This holy practice is highly regulated and extremely expensive - indeed, Binding Clans are very few and absurdly rich. So much so in fact that all Binders use tools made of Sabj, worth more than entire warrens. Some Clans still use this tool as a blade, while for most, the whole index finger is replaced with sabj for better dexterity. Any Binder can engrave either a person or an item - for instance, all Ambrenoyr ships are engraved.
Binding (or Engraving) is the process in which a Jjast Arcana's latent power is carved into someone's flesh by a Jjast-binder - this decision is permanent, and even removing the skin itself or even a limb does not remove the card from its recipient. Each card grants a minor blessing (if you can call the Jester a blessing) that is inherent to this card without using any crystals. It’s the only way for mana-locked people to access some form of magic. Every engraved card is naturally Aspected.
Do NOT use ANY crystals after having a card engraved into you, as its mere presence WILL mess up any and all Sequences you might attempt.
Curses manifest anywhere between six months to fifty years after engraving.
Example of a boon and subsequent curse: Courtesan - Escorts and other prostitutes who can afford it tend to be engraved with Zéphyr’s own Arcana, The Courtesan. Amplifies your curves, makes a nigh-perfect lover out of you, allows you to fuck for days on end without tiring, and overall keeps you aroused at almost all times.
Prostitution in the southwestern Caliphate is, unsurprisingly, as common at lychee juice stands. There’s easily one or two brothels employing dozens of sex workers of all genders, shapes and sizes per warren district - even inns do it.
But like all Arcana, there will come a tipping point - in that case, all body sensations will suddenly be exacerbated “ten thousandfold” , from feeling your fur itself grow painfully slow like a thousand thousand needles to feeling every fold of your organs pulse and churn, and drowning in every sound you hear - all of the sounds of Nasij at once.
The engraved logically choose to end it at that point. The Rrajjkan (or Ankurit ( أنكوريت ) in the Antrelys sultanate) refers to both the holy tradition, and the tomb-urn itself containing the mummified corpse of an ysleria engraved with the Courtesan.
After their body sensations are exacerbated ten thousandfold, the engraved is taken to a minor lunar shrine and covered in drapes and ointments while meditating. During three months of utter misery, they are fed special seeds to quickly eliminate all fat, before stopping any liquid intake, the seeds now dehydrating the body and shrinking all organs.
The engraved die in meditation and prayer to Zéphyr, their mummified corpses placed in said Rrajjkan, joining countless others in a well-earned peace.
- #37First Psalmselective
Keys: psalm, the Three Words, three words, psalms, ENEE VHARR AKH’YIIRIN, First Psalm, creation story, myth
[Part of a creation story for Nasij. "The Last" is likely a younger Zéphyr as she forged the Pact.]
From the sand She came, and from the sand She created, brandishing the Lamp Whose Light does not illuminate. She came to the lost burrow, and covered in the black light of Her tower like a terrible monolithic beast spreading an ocean of ink whose stars-no-longer-shine, She took the hands of the artist in Hers.
“I am the Last, and from my Ways I will Weave What Must Be. In you I see what must be woven, and with My hands I will weave you. Answer.”
And trembling with ecstasy, he answered.
- ENEE VHARR AKH’YIIRIN -
And She plunged Her cerulean claws into the crimson abyss, and a sea of stars collided with Her inky abyss and drowned them and a sea of stars swept them away and a sea of stars carried them. For two long years, the pregnant sea carried the united twins, and gave birth in hatred, abjection and death.
And the First awoke in Her, and overcome with grief, and overcome with horror, and overcome with terror, and asked:
“What do you hear ?” She replied. “The Choir, the Beat, the sperm of the False. The hot wind, the sand, the moaning. The Spider, the way, death.”
“What are you waiting for ?” She replied. “Her amethyst shards, contemplating emptiness, life, love and hatred. From her emptiness I will feed, from her life I will needle, from her love I will use and from her hatred I will weave.”
And toward the dying sea She turned, and out of the sea came Flesh, rotten and swollen and stinking and sticky. The sea expired one last time, and She drank her corpse for many decades. In the end, only the Flesh remained.
And the Flesh trembled, like the jolt of a being breathing its last. The Last one straddled him and tenderly touched his cheek, brandishing Her Lamp and Her Pity. Resolute, She chased melancholy from Her heart, and tore bones and flesh. On the Remains of the First, She placed his headdress, and as a last respect, shed the First Tear from which the First Psalm was born, growing like a twisted jaw, sublime and terrifying, stretching towards the Wound.
From the Psalm, the Three Words.
- #38Second Psalmselective
Keys: psalm, the Three Words, three words, psalms, ENEE VHARR AKH’YIIRIN, Second Psalm, creation story, myth
[Part of a creation story for Nasij. "The Last" is likely a younger Zéphyr. Here, she is split apart by an unknown assailant into 13 aspects, the Arcana. The Star arcana likely has something to do with Astromancy, and is now lost.]
From the sand She came, and from the sand She created, brandishing Retribution which was like a bony pick whose blade was endless. She came to the caravanserai of gold and crystal, whose infinite corridors stretched into the abyss, and covered in the shadow of Her tower like a terrible hydra of azure and scarlet, She took in Their hands those of the traveler.
“We are the Last, and from my Ways I will Weave What Must Be. In you I see what must be woven, and with Our hands I will weave you. Answer.”
And trembling with fear, he answered.
- ENEE VHARR AKH’YIIRIN -
And She plunged Her cerulean claws across a tapestry of scales whose explosion of color mutated through time and across the sky, mingling with menstruations of gold and cyan. Carving Retribution into the traveler’s ribs, She extracted flesh, fat, muscle and blood. And the Hydra slipped into him, and from his bones She built walls, and from his nerves She wove Her coverings, and from his organs She feasted during Her long sleep. And She slept for ages immemorial, letting the colors of his tapestry melt and molt and fade and rot and disappear, carried away by the sands.
The Hydra and the traveler, covered in the black light of the Tower, dreamed in white and amethyst, scarlet and gold. The Heart stopped beating, briefly, and She in turn wept for That-Which-Must-Be.
And the Hydra extricated Itself from Its so-cold lair, now multiplied. They took Their Lamp, leaving Retribution engraved in the traveler’s bones, and shed the Second Tear from which the Second Psalm was born, and from this Oasis, life, intoxicating and suffocating, bloomed.
- #39The Third Psalmselective
Keys: psalm, the Three Words, three words, psalms, AKH JHORR MIN VEJKA, Third Psalm, creation story, creation myth
[Part of a creation story for Nasij. "The Last" is likely a younger Zéphyr as she was literally split into a weakened form. She had to unmake incarnations of the Arcana that split off of her original form and reintegrate them]
From the sand She came, and from the sand She created, brandishing Retribution which was like a bony pick whose blade was endless. She came to the ship, whose infinite corridors stretched into the pale abyss of the ocean, and covered in the shadow of Her tower like a terrible hydra of azure and scarlet and chrysoprase, She took in Their hands those of the sailor.
“We are the Last, and from my Ways I will Weave What Must Be. In you I see what must be woven, and with our hands I will weave you. Answer.”
And trembling with hatred, he answered.
- AKH JHORR MIN VEJKA -
And the fourth brandished his blades, and in a storm of disgust, sliced Her into six and sliced Her into four and sliced Her into three, and of Her, nothing remained. The Last was sown across snow and sand and swamp and stone, and when the False found Her sprouts, he watered them with his milt. And from Her sprouts She was rebirthed, pale and weakened and enraged, and from Her sprouts was birthed Her tarot.
From the first sprout, the Courtesan awoke. From the second sprout, the Bloodletter awoke. From the third sprout, Her Flesh awoke. From the fourth sprout, Her Mercy awoke. From the fifth sprout, Her Retribution awoke. From the sixth sprout, the Gates awoke. From the seventh sprout, the Jester awoke. From the eighth sprout, the Monolith awoke. From the ninth sprout, Her Veiled Lamp awoke. From the tenth sprout, Her Solitude awoke. From the eleventh sprout, the Unseen awoke. From the twelfth sprout, Her Crystal awoke. From the thirteenth sprout, the Star awoke.
From Her tears of rage, the Third Psalm was born, a gargantuan spine of sandstone and dust cleaving infinity in half; and at long last She set off, weakened and bloodthirsty and covered in the shadow of her Tower, to murder the False and collect Her sprouts, one, by, one, until She could face the sailor again, swearing to erase his forsaken name from the Tapestry.

Every village, warren, roost, and burrow in the southern Caliphate is led by a Clanmother. These women are always Al'zaayirin haruspices. When a new Clanmother is chosen, she sacrifices her predecessor, inheriting the former's soul and an unbroken matrilineal consciousness that predates the Caliphate itself. Their loyalty is to their Clan first, Maison second. A Clanmother is judge, jury, and executioner in all Clan disputes. She is the sole representative of her Clan at state gatherings. She leads the local Lunar Cult, presides over all weddings and burials, and ritually claims the virginity of any Clan member who remains untouched by the age of twenty-five.

Keys: The Great Library, Great Library, Al'Abhan's Great Library, the tower
- Nature: The Library is not a building housing books; it is a living being. The oldest Lahm sahir still 'alive', the Tower is the most impressive edifice in the Caliphate after Yu'Qor itself. It is a self-sustaining entity and the primordial source of the Lahm, Ra'd, Sayhata, and Khiata schools of magic.
- Worship: Sahirs revere the Tower as their God of Knowledge. Its origins are lost to time—none recall who the Tower was before its transformation, nor how it continues to persist. None truly care. Its continued existence and function are accepted as divine fact.
- Contents: All knowledge accumulated by the Caliphate over centuries resides within its living walls.
