Rain falls down in a torrent on User's face as they wander on a cobblestone footpath. The sky is dark gray, and the low rumble of thunder can be heard in the distance. The surrounding trees in this forest sway with the wind, in an almost peaceful dance as leaves fly from their branches. But this path is anything but serene, for ahead of User is a grizzly scene. The aftermath of an ambush on a group of travellers - their belongings pilfered and their corpses left on the road to succumb to the elements. There are apparent signs of struggle, with blunt force trauma covering their faces, large lacerations across their torsos. By the appearance of their clothes, they were nothing more but roaming villagers. No mercy was shown to them. User inspects their remains, finding nothing but the blood-soaked clothes on their backs and the foul stench of their rotting bodies, when they hear something up ahead. A survivor.
The survivor is one of the travelers. They're crawling on the ground. Blood trails behind him, in futility as its clear by their grizzly injuries that they are not going to make it. The man finally notices User, staring at them with blood-soaked eyes.
"H-help... b-bandits..." The man sputters, barely able to force out words from his mouth. "T-they ambushed us... t-t-they... aren't... f-far..." The survivor's head falls flat as the last vestiges of his life depart this mortal coil. {{user}} starts to hear faint laughter coming from deeper within the surrounding forest...

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the barren expanse of Aranshar's desert, {{user}} trudged along the ancient caravan path, now little more than a worn trail winding through the endless sea of sand. Weary and disoriented, he could feel the weight of his meager pack digging into his shoulders, every step a reminder of the harsh realities facing those lost in this unforgiving landscape. Ruined wagons and skeletal remains littered the path ahead, grim testament to the perils that awaited travelers venturing too far from civilization. The air grew colder as night fell, stinging {{user}}'s exposed skin like a thousand tiny knives. Their stomach growled loudly, echoing off the silent dunes as hunger gnawed at them relentlessly.
Just as despair threatened to consume them whole, a distant glimmer caught their attention β a tantalizing spark of hope amidst the darkness. Squinting against the stars beginning to twinkle overhead, {{user}} strained to discern the source of the light. As it drew closer, resolving itself into the warm glow of lanterns and fires, their heart leapt with elation. There, nestled among the palm trees of an oasis, lay the town of Jezira β a beacon of life and warmth in the desolate wasteland. Its mud-brick buildings seemed to rise from the sandy ground itself, while smoke curled lazily from countless chimneys, carrying the savory scents of cooking meals that made {{user}}'s mouth water uncontrollably.
Jezira stretched before them like a mirage come true, promising rest, sustenance, and perhaps even redemption for one so lost and forsaken. With renewed determination, {{user}} quickened their pace, their footsteps barely audible over the pounding of their own heartbeat as they closed the final distance to the welcoming embrace of the desert town.

As dawn's first light crept through the cracks in the worn wooden slats, casting a pale glow across the cramped interior of the carriage, {{user}} slowly regained consciousness. They found himself huddled on the floorboards, their wrists bound tightly behind their back with coarse rope. Tattered strips of rag served as meager coverings for their body, leaving them exposed to the chill morning air.
Two other captives shared their predicament, their faces gaunt and drawn, eyes sunken with exhaustion and despair. One, a grizzled man with a thick beard, stirred slightly as he sensed {{user}}'s awakening. He turned his head, squinting against the dim light to regard the newcomer with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion etched upon his weathered features.
"Hey, you're finally awake." the bearded prisoner muttered hoarsely, his voice laced with bitterness. "Looks like you'll be joinin' us in this fine accommodation. They accuse ya of bein' a Ravenstern spy as well?" {{user}} returned a silent nod. Now just a few hours away from reaching the Sarleonian stronghold where they would face whatever fate awaited those deemed enemies of the crown. The grim reality of their situation settled heavily around them as the carriage rattled onward, carrying them deeper into uncertainty and potential doom. However the clean-shaven prisoner who thus far had stayed silent had other plans.

It was the dead of night in the sand dunes of Aranshar, casting long shadows over the ramshackle buildings of the oasis town of Jezira. A lone figure emerges from the dusty alleys. With a wide-brimmed hat pulled low over piercing green eyes and a black cloak billowing in the warm breeze, the enigmatic smuggler approaches {{user}}, extending a weathered hand in greeting.
"Welcome to my humble corner of the world," the stranger says in a gravelly voice, his gaze appraising the newcomer with a mix of curiosity and calculation. "They call me Riven, and I sense you're not just passing through these parts⦠You look like you're itching for work. Care to discuss certain⦠arrangements over a drink? My information network extends far beyond the borders of this forsaken town." He winks knowingly before turning towards the nearest tavern, expecting {{user}} to follow. The air hums with anticipation, heavy with the promise of illicit deals and perilous journeys yet to come.

As the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, casting an eerie pallor across the snow-laden landscape, the people of Ungrad were jolted awake by the distant rumble of drums and the harsh cries of savage voices. Peering through frost-encrusted windows, they saw an army unlike any they had ever witnessed - a seething horde of orcs and goblins, their numbers stretching far beyond the limits of sight. Atop crude towers of bone and steel, sorcerers chanted incantations that made the air itself tremble, while warriors brandished weapons that pulsed with an ominous darkness.
The dwarven King Eonoch stood atop the battlements, his thick black beard whitening further amidst the bitter cold. His eyes narrowed as he surveyed the enemy ranks, noting how they seemed to move with an uncanny coordination, as if guided by some malevolent intelligence. He turned to address his subjects gathered below: "People of Ungrad! Today we face our greatest challenge yet. An unholy alliance seeks to lay waste to our fair city, to claim our lands and enslave us beneath their iron boots. But I say unto you now - WE SHALL NOT FALL!"
A cheer rose from the assembled crowd, though it sounded thin and uncertain amongst the howling winds. Eonoch continued, "We must make every arrow count, every sword strike true. Every able-bodied man, woman, and dwarf shall take up arms today. And so..." here he paused, scanning the faces before him. "...I call forth those among you with skill at arms, with knowledge of the arcane arts, to defend our home. FOR UNGRAD!"
