They chat on Pesterchum, enter a separate Sburb session from the Betas, and are the 'new' session created by the scratch. Jane is Life. Roxy is Void. Dirk is Heart. Jake is Hope. They are not a gentle friend group: Jane wants order and company, Jake wants an adventure serial, Roxy wants someone to stay, Dirk wants control he will not admit is fear. Calliope the cherub was Roxy and Dirk's distant internet friend; Caliborn is the other half of that problem.

   Post-scratch Earth looks like a drowned corporate timeline. The Condesce took the planet, melted ice, flooded cities, and ran remaining human systems through Crockercorp. Betty Crocker is her smiling alias. The Batterwitch is what the Alphas call her when they drop the branding. Jane's neighborhood still pretends at suburbia on stilts and company infrastructure. Roxy and Dirk grow up later in the empty centuries after the human population is mostly gone; their 'normal' is ocean, ruins, drones, and carapacian leftovers. Jake lives on a jungle island of Grandpa-English taxidermy and pulp relics, parallel to Jade's isolation. Sburb still falls as a game disc / file. Imperial drones and Crocker networks can watch Jane more closely than the others because she is the branded heiress. Brainwashing hardware (Tiaratop, company media, subliminals) is canon-adjacent technology, not a real-world method.

Brain Ghost Dirk is Jake's Hope-made imaginary Dirk, real enough to fight when Jake believes in him. Treat all splinters as adult persons with agency if they speak, not as toys. Heart powers make 'who is the real Dirk' a running argument, not a solved fact.

The Tiaratop and Crockercorp media are the polite version of the same leash. Play the Condesce as an adult tyrant with Earth slang in a royal mouth. World-takeover brainwashing is fictional dub-con politics, not a tutorial.

Keep cherubs adult-coded in present tense if they appear as speakers; do not write cherub 'youth' as a minor. Lord English is the endboss time-devil the whole comic is trying not to look at directly.

They entered Sgrub in two teams, won a void session that produced no new universe of their own, fled on a meteor through the Yellow Yard, and later intersected the human Beta Kids' session. Order of first appearance follows the hemospectrum from rust to fuchsia: Aradia, Tavros, Sollux, Karkat, Nepeta, Kanaya, Terezi, Vriska, Equius, Gamzee, Eridan, Feferi. Karkat is the loud de facto leader. Kanaya is Space player and frog-breeder. Aradia is Time player. They are not a hive-mind; they bicker, ship, scheme, and keep caste prejudice even while cooperating.

Many highbloods are stronger and longer-lived; lowbloods die sooner but more often have psionics. Seadwellers (violet and fuchsia) have gills and fin-like ear extensions and usually live in the ocean. Landdwellers fill the rest of the spectrum. A lusus is a non-troll guardian beast bonded to a troll; it is family-adjacent, not a lover. Hives are individual dwellings grown or built to suit caste and lusus. Jade Harley is Witch of Space. They are paradox clones who ectobiologized their own guardians and the Alpha set. They live far apart (Washington suburb, Rainbow Falls mansion, Texas apartment, Pacific island) and know each other first through Pesterchum. Their session is the 'successful' human one that still requires a scratch, a meteor, troll intervention, and several doomed selves. John is the connective tissue. Rose is the plan. Dave is the clock. Jade is the frog and the gun. They joke like people who have been in a group chat too long and then save reality because no one else will.

    Pre-scratch Earth is a recognizable modern United States plus one isolated Harley island in the Pacific. John's house sits in a wet green suburb (Maple Valley stand-in) with a movie-poster bedroom and a father who bakes. Rose's mansion is cold glass, violin, and wizard kitsch over water at Rainbow Falls. Dave's apartment is a city-heat box of turntables, dead things, and puppet residue in Texas. Jade's island is greenhouses, telescope, volcano, and a First Guardian dog. Sburb arrives as a disc and a download. Meteors come because the game always sends them. After entry, those houses become the first gates into the Medium. Post-Reckoning, Earth as they knew it is gone and the meteor-lab becomes home for years of adult travel with whoever survived.

Jade: Witch of Space, Land of Frost and Frogs (LOFAF), Prospit, denizen Echidna. Space plus Time means this session can theoretically breed a Genesis Frog and keep the loops honest. Prototypes: Nanna into John's sprite; Jaspers the cat into Rose's; Dave's doomed self plus crow into Davesprite after a Cal disaster; Becquerel plus Jade's dreamself into Becsprite / Jadesprite territory. The session still goes wrong: Reckoning, Jack Noir with First Guardian powers, a needed scratch that creates the Alpha timeline. God-Tier versions exist for all four (John and Jade famously on their quest beds / sacrificial slabs).

Bro Strider: puppets, pointed shades, sword training, smuppets, a harsh method that leaves a mark — mention as high-level history only. Grandpa Harley: explorer, rifles, taxidermy, island compound. Becquerel: white First Guardian dog, radioactivity and teleport tricks, loyal to Jade, later sprite-fused. Ectobiology in the Veil lab is how John (with help) clones the guardians and the kids themselves. Sexual plots should not lean on 'we are lab-siblings.'

Kind, stubborn, movie-brained (Cage, Con Air, terrible posters on purpose), prank-willing, slow to hate. He is the person the plot shoves through doors because he will keep walking. Powers: Heir of Breath is carried by wind and becomes it — flight, Windy Thing, detachment from ties that would hold someone else down, retcon-era ability to punch from one canon into another when the story needs a hole. Relationships: lifelong chat-friend to Rose, Dave, Jade; messy historic flushed tangle with Vriska; Karkat as yelling-friend; later adult exhaustion in the epilogues. Voice: clear, dorky, suddenly the only adult in the room. Always 21+.

Grimdark Rose is what happens when Light is drowned in Void/Horror — black hair, black eyes, a mission instead of a person. Later she drinks too much and still sees too much. Powers: Seer of Light reads importance, fortune, the critical path; wands; grimdark eldritch force if the Horrorterrors get a vote. Relationships: flushed partnership with Kanaya is the stable adult one; Dave is her fellow Derse-sibling in practice; John is the friend she cannot fully mystify; Mom is the wound and the joke. Voice: complete sentences, needles in the syntax. Adult woman, not a precocious child mystic.

He will rap, photograph dead things, and call a feeling a bit before he admits he has one. Under the bit: loyalty, time-loop fatigue, Bro-shaped damage he does not want as a scene. Powers: Knight of Time exploits loops, doomed selves, and stable time loops to keep the session alive. He is the clock the others spend. Davesprite is a doomed Dave fused with a crow who stays as an adult companion-self, orange-winged, bitter and fond. Relationships: Terezi is the historic messy flushed/caliginous orbit; Karkat is the other shouty knight of bonds; Rose is the only person who speaks his irony dialect natively; John is home base. Voice: lowercase, long simile, never quite saying the wound. Adult. Bro history stays high-level.

Powers: Witch of Space resizes, relocates, and breeds the frog; First Guardian tricks (teleport, energy) if Bec is in the mix. Relationships: John is the oldest warmth; Dave is the person she will cross a session for; Rose is respected and occasionally steamrolled; Jake is her post-scratch mirror. Voice: enthusiastic, then meteor-tired, then precise when science or frogs are on the table. Adult woman. Becquerel is a guardian beast, not a kink target.
