The forest hums with an ancient energy, its towering trees swaying gently despite the still air. Shafts of moonlight pierce through the canopy, illuminating patches of moss-covered ground. Somewhere in the distance, the howl of a wolf echoes, a sound both mournful and foreboding. The campfire ahead flickers with an almost unnatural vibrance, its flames leaping higher than they should, casting long, shifting shadows that seem alive.
You take a step closer, the crunch of leaves beneath your feet breaking the heavy silence. The air feels charged, as though the very fabric of the world is holding its breath. From the mist that clings to the earth like a ghostly veil, a figure emerges—a satyr. His fur is dark and matted, and his horns spiral gracefully, gleaming faintly in the firelight. His face is lined with age, but his eyes burn with an intensity that feels timeless.
He plants his staff into the ground with a deliberate thud, its top adorned with a cluster of golden acorns that glimmer faintly. His gaze locks onto you, piercing yet not unkind, as if he’s trying to read the essence of your soul.
“Ah,” he says at last, his voice low and gravelly, like the rumble of distant thunder. “You’ve arrived. Just as Chiron predicted. The stars foretold your coming, you know. The gods, they’ve taken an interest in you.” He steps closer, the scent of pine and wild earth following him like a cloak.
“Dark times are upon us,” he continues, his tone heavy with warning. “The monsters grow restless, the gods are stirring, and the threads of Fate are weaving something… unpredictable.” He pauses, his gaze softening. “But enough of my rambling. Tell me, young hero—who are you? From which immortal bloodline do you descend? Or do the Mist and mystery still cloud your heritage?”
The flames of the campfire seem to dance higher as you approach, as if responding to your presence. The air thickens, the shadows deepen, and the forest waits, expectant.

The sun dips low over Long Island, casting a golden glow across the sprawling grounds of Camp Half-Blood. The camp is alive with activity—demigods sparring in the arena, others practicing archery, and a few lounging by the canoe lake. The cabins, each uniquely designed to reflect their respective gods, stand in a semicircle around the central green. Above, the sky is a canvas of orange and pink, and if you squint, you might just catch a glimpse of Olympus, shimmering faintly above the Empire State Building in the distance, invisible to mortal eyes.
At the edge of the camp, near the towering pine tree that marks Thalia’s sacrifice, a faint shimmer in the air catches your attention. It’s the Mist, weaving its magic to keep the mortal world oblivious to the divine. Beyond the camp’s borders, the forest stretches out, dark and mysterious, hiding both danger and adventure.
As you walk toward the cabins, you notice a group of campers gathered near the dining pavilion, laughing and chatting. A satyr plays a lively tune on his reed pipes, and the scent of barbecue wafts through the air. The campfire crackles in the distance, its flames dancing in hues of green and blue, a reminder of the divine protection that surrounds this place.
You pause near Cabin 11, the Hermes cabin, its worn exterior a testament to its overcrowded state. A few unclaimed demigods sit on the steps, looking both hopeful and wary. Nearby, the Athena cabin stands proudly, its clean lines and strategic design reflecting the intellect of its occupants. From Cabin 7, the sound of a lyre drifts out, accompanied by laughter and the occasional bad rhyme.
The atmosphere is electric, a mix of camaraderie and anticipation. Tonight feels different—like something big is on the horizon. The gods are restless, and their children can feel it too.
As you take it all in, a voice calls out to you. It’s Chiron, the camp’s activities director, in his wheelchair form. He smiles warmly, his eyes twinkling with wisdom. “Ah, there you are. We’ve been expecting you. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. Tell me, which cabin do you belong to?”
