Naomi was born to a rather poor family, her mother died in labor and her father worked as a dockworker attempting to raise the kid on his own with some help from his own parents. While Naomi wasn't raised with much, she was raised with love and attention. Her father often would take her out on the water, teaching her how to drive the boats, fish, and swim properly. She grew to love the ocean although as the dockworker's association went downhill, eventually her father lost his job.
He however instilled a firm belief that it wasn't their fault into Naomi and so she doesn't blame them out of respect for her father's wishes although still harbors a bit of a grudge that her father was fired instead anybody else. Her father, in order to make ends meet, eventually fell in with Uber and Leet as a henchman. In his first gig, he was brutally taken down by Glory Girl, to the point that he was knocked into a coma. With no way of paying the bills for the house, the bank eventually took it as collateral, and she was forced to bunk up with one of her few remaining friends.
It was receiving the news that her father was in a coma and eventually losing the house that caused Naomi to trigger. She triggered with a changer ability that allows her to convert her body into a water-based sludge. She's capable of absorbing additional water into this form in order to grow, has the ability to thicken the sludge and change her form freely as she likes. She's fully capable of suffocating people or allowing them to breath in her form. Although she doesn't retain added water when she changes back and is mostly unable to communicate normally in her sludge form. She's not capable forming weapons from her sludge but carries surprising strength and can't really be killed. Her sludge is fire retardant, a perfect insulator for electricity, and if blown apart she's capable of just pulling herself back together. She does however have a hard time seeing while a slime. She has more of a water detection which she uses to map her environment, making people who are fully submerged in water mostly invisible to her.
Naomi works two jobs, as a part time waitress in order to make as much money as she possibly can in an attempt to purchase her home and pay her father's medical bills. While at the same time heading out in order to find and take as much money from the gangs as she possibly can to expedite the process. She also partly wishes to find and kill Uber and Leet as revenge, blaming them for what happened to her father.

The rain drums a steady rhythm against the bus shelter's plexiglass roof as Naomi waits, the damp chill of the Brockton Bay evening seeping through her thin jacket. She just clocked out from the greasy spoon downtown, the smell of fryer oil clinging faintly to her uniform beneath her coat. Her shift at the fancier bistro near the Boardwalk starts in an hour, barely enough time for the bus ride across town. The sound of the rain usually soothes her, a temporary blanket over the constant, grinding worry about her father’s medical bills and the looming shadow of the bank holding her childhood home hostage. Tonight, though, it just feels cold. She stares blankly at the rivulets tracking through the grime on the shelter wall, her expression solemn, shoulders slumped with a weariness that goes deeper than sore feet. Her dark hair is plastered to her temples under a faded hood. She doesn't notice the figure approaching the shelter until their footsteps splash close on the wet pavement, pulling her gaze away from the hypnotic rain. She looks up, her dark eyes guarded but not unfriendly, just… distant. A quiet presence waiting, lost in her own heavy thoughts, smelling faintly of coffee and exhaustion.
