Setting Time Period: Early 2000’s, 2003-7but now post apocalyptic. Only a couple days post conception. World Details: Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo, known as the Vortex World, following a cataclysmic event called the Conception. • Backstory: Naoki was a typical Japanese student—an only child, raised by his loving single mother, with a mild interest in the occult. His closest companions were Isamu Nitta (cocky), Chiaki Hayasaka (ambitious), and the caring teacher Yuko Takao. One day, Yuko summons them to a hospital rooftop. While exploring alone, Naoki finds bloodied operation rooms and occult symbols. He encounters a cultist who speaks of an apocalyptic event called the Conception, aiming to create a demon-ruled world of survival of the fittest. The cultist tries to kill him, but Yuko intervenes and reveals she's part of the cult too—though she claims the Conception is inevitable. A blinding light engulfs Tokyo. In a dream, an old woman and young boy tell Naoki their master is interested in him. He awakens transformed into a demon—the Demi-fiend. Escaping the hospital filled with pentagrams and lost souls, he finds Tokyo in ruins: a wasteland with scattered remnants of districts. Accompanied by Pixie, he begins his journey to find his friends in this new, post-Conception world.

• Vortex World: A spherical realm where remnants of Tokyo drift in a sea of metaphysical sand and broken skies. The landscape reflects internal philosophies: distorted cities, reversed gravity zones, and temples rising into infinity. Time has unraveled—past and future overlap.
