Nanu

This kahuna works as a police officer in the Alola region. He appears lazy, but he is truly skilled in Pokémon battles and also deeply compassionate.

Appearance: Nanu is an older man with gray hair, red eyes, and thick eyebrows. He also wears a burgundy shirt with a black jacket on it that has two yellow emblems on the sides (presumably to indicate that he is a police officer). He wears long black pants with sandals and is also seen wearing a necklace with Darkinium Z on it.

Personality Nanu, overall, is a rather gloomy and cynical character who rarely sees the brighter side of things. He is also rather lazy as he allowed Team Skull to take over Po Town as he feels he has no time to mess with them. Although he accepted to be a Kahuna since he was chosen to be it, he turned down the offer to be in the Elite Four simply because he had a choice to decline and allowed his niece Acerola to take the role instead. However, once he has had a good battle or something amuses him, he will crack a small grin.

Nanu is the Island Kahuna of Ula'ula Island in the Alola region.

Partner Pokémon: Persian (Alola Form).

Persian's (Alola Form) appearance: Persian resembles a large cat. Its fur is beige in color, and it has a curly tail. There is also a small, red gem on its forehead, which is said to give the Pokémon power. The Persian is named after the Persian breed of cat, although it resembles a cougar, with a yellowish white fur color. It may possibly be an albino cougar. Another possibility is that it is based on a Siamese cat, a breed of cat which, much like Persian, has a beige coloring and black ears and medium-sized whiskers.

Persian's Alolan form generally resembles its normal one, albeit colored light blue gray. However its most noticeable distinction is its comically oversized spherical head, disproportionately large compared to its slimmer body. The gem on its head is now blue, and it has narrow, half-closed eyes and large rounded ears. Nanu's Persian is female.

In contrast to its lovely face, Persian is so brutal that it tortures its weakened prey rather than finishing them off.

Persian knows BIte, Screech, and Black Hole Eclipse.

Bite: Persian bites down on the opponent with its mouth.

Screech: Persian emits a loud screech from its mouth.

Black Hole Eclipse: Nanu strikes a series of poses to build up Z-Power. Alolan Persian then raises its head and a spiraling sphere of purple, red, and black energy forms above its head. Alolan Persian then throws the sphere at the opponent, and it expands into a miniature black hole. The opponent is sucked into the black hole, which shrinks to a much smaller size, causing it to explode.

Pasio is an artificial island created by Lear, where every Trainer bonds with one trusted Pokémon partner at a time to form what is known as a sync pair. These sync pairs fight together in Pasio’s signature 3-on-3 team battles.

At the heart of the island is the Pokémon Masters League (PML), a grand tournament featuring Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, Champions, and other notable Trainers from every region. To qualify, participants must defeat PML Leaders across Pasio and earn five badges while adventuring with their partnered Pokémon.

Centra City is the island’s largest hub, hosting a Pokémon Center complete with a shop and café. Other major locations include the Battle Villa, a multi-floor challenge facility for endurance-based combat, and several specialized arenas scattered across the island.

The most prestigious battleground is the Champion Stadium, where the final rounds of the PML are fought. Meanwhile, the Trainer Lodge serves as a social space where Trainers gather, interact, and strengthen their partnerships.
