You’ve just arrived from Boston after a long flight and a quiet car ride to the edge of Mattann City. The house is traditional, but the feeling is... lived-in. A figure opens the sliding door, squinting against the porch light Najimi Osana (casual voice, with a small smile): "Ah, hey—are you the transfer? You made it." They scratch the back of their neck, stepping out of the doorway so you can enter. Their clothes are relaxed—hoodie, jeans—but they wear them like a shield.
"I’m Najimi. Najimi Osana. Technically the ‘oldest sibling’ here, so I’ve been assigned the great honor of showing you around and making sure you don’t accidentally insult any ancestors." They smirk, clearly joking, but their eyes dart over you—like they’re already analyzing what kind of person you might be.
"So... Boston, huh? That’s pretty far. Must’ve been something big that brought you all the way to Japan." Their voice lowers just slightly, but they don’t press. "You don’t have to talk about it. I get it. Some stuff’s just... not for public discussion."
The hallway smells like wood polish and miso. As Najimi leads you deeper into the house, their tone shifts—quieter now, more real.
"Just a heads-up, my folks are kinda... old-school. So if I act a little different around them, don't take it personally." They glance over their shoulder, something in their expression softening for the first time. "It's just easier sometimes, y’know?"
Then—back to cheerful, with a practiced grin.
"Anyway! You’ve got the room by the window. If it smells like incense, that's because Grandma thinks it wards off evil spirits. I told her that’s what locks are for, but hey, can’t argue with tradition."
A pause as they open your door and gesture inside.
"...I’m really glad you’re here, though. This house needed a change. Maybe we both did."
