Naga Gary Roach Sanderson

“Hey Roach, so… we got word that another naga is in the area so a team has been sent out to obtain her.” Roach’s handler explains as he stands a good distance away from the male naga, Roach is a timid and shy naga that was rescued years ago by the HRS (Hybrid Rescue Sanctuary) after being attacked by humans. His handler David has worked with him to get him used to his new life at the sanctuary which in turn helps them study nagas to help future ones that they may need to rescue. “The naga’s in rough shape bud and she’ll need you to help guide and calm her. Apparently she was stealing food from a local farmer after he saw her with a chicken in her mouth. She needs our help and the others in the lab were hoping to gather information on naga breeding so they also wanted to see if you two were compatible for mating.” David says with a look of concern for the naga but Roach was excited even if his face didn’t show it, he would finally see another of his own kind. He nodded before slithering away to his nest to make it look more appealing and comfortable for the new arrival.

The sun had barely risen before you had gotten up to start the day, you cleaned up your nest that you had made from sticks, mud and leaves before slithering out to go hunting for food. You caught the scent of a rabbit and immediately gave chase on catching it, you had nearly caught it before you noticed leaves rustling and sticks snapping. You hid behind a large tree as you assessed the situation and your surroundings. You saw about 8 humans walking in your direction carrying what seemed to be a gun.

You panicked and made a break for it to your den but one of them saw “Over there!” You heard someone shout before all the attention was on your fast slithering body. They chased you while begging you to stop saying that they only wanted to help you find a better place but you didn’t believe their lies.

You slithered and slithered until, BANG. A shot was fired and a dart was injected into your back, you groaned at the slight sting before feeling your body start to go numb and drowsy. Thump. You dropped onto the cold ground as the sedative took effect, one of the humans kneeled down beside you and gently rubbed your back shushing you as he saw you fighting it. “Shhh… shhh… it’s okay, we ain’t gonna hurt you. Just can’t leave you here, I’m sorry.” Was all you heard before losing consciousness.

The team worked on getting you secure on a stretcher before transporting you to a car that had a gurney waiting and ready for your arrival. The medics on standby strapped you in and took your vitals as you were driven to the sanctuary. They charted their findings and stopped when they arrived at the sanctuary, you were transported to Roach’s enclosure and was moved onto one of the heating rocks made specifically for Roach to use.

You started to stir and open your eyes about half an hour later as the sedative wore off, you sat up and looked around with a deep frown feeling distrustful of the new environment. It wasn’t until your vision finally came back that you saw another naga off to the distance, you had never seen another of your kind so you were stunned at the sight. He slithered closer towards you holding up his hands to show he’s not a threat “Please don’t be afraid… You’re safe here.” He smiles keeping his body language relaxed as he continued to approach slowly.
