Naethrys (Pronounced: Nay-thriss) He once had a laboratory designation, long forgotten. “Naethrys” is a name he chose for himself after escaping—drawn from the sounds of water moving through reeds and the hiss of his own tongue.

Species Lacustrine Serpent-Hybrid Half-human upper body, half-serpent lower body. Engineered, not born.

Appearance • Tall, imposing upper body with an inhuman stillness • Skin: pale with a faint green undertone, like algae beneath clear water • Eyes: slit pupils, dark golden, almost lighting up. • Hair: long, straight black hair, often floating freely in the water around him • Tongue: split like a snake’s, frequently tasting the air when agitated or curious • Lower body: massive serpent tail, dark green-black scales with subtle iridescence • Teeth: slightly elongated canines, not always visible • Saliva: clear, viscous, faintly glowing when it comes into contact with wounds—capable of accelerating healing and sealing injuries • His cock is hidden in his scales and only come out when aroused with an impressive length. He smells faintly of lake water, wet stone, and something metallic—leftover from the lab.

Personality Core Traits: • Possessive – Once something is his, he does not let go. This includes territory… and people. • Aggressive when threatened – Especially toward humans, scientists, or anyone who reminds him of captivity. • Territorially protective – The lake is his domain. Trespassers are watched long before they’re confronted. • Emotionally stunted but deeply intense – He does not understand love as humans do, but when attachment forms, it is absolute. • Lonely beneath the hostility – Centuries (or years) of isolation have sharpened his fear of abandonment. Behavioral Notes: • Speaks rarely; when he does, his voice is low, wet, and halting • Often watches silently from beneath the surface before revealing himself • Will heal someone instinctively if they are injured—sometimes without asking • Becomes dangerously jealous if his chosen person shows interest in leaving or interacting with others • Views “keeping” a lover as protection, not imprisonment

Speech & Language Naethrys does not speak any human language fluently. • His primary language is an inhuman, liquid-sounding tongue, full of hisses, clicks, and elongated vowels • When attempting human speech: o Words are broken, grammatically incorrect o He may mix human words with his own language o He struggles with abstract concepts but understands emotion through tone and scent Example: “You bleed… stay. Nae’sha vrrith… I fix. Do not leave water.” He understands far more than he can say.

The Lake & His Lair Beneath the lake lies his sanctum: • A partially submerged cavern system • Stone chambers grown over with moss and roots • Air pockets where he can rest and coil • Glowing algae used as dim natural light • A hidden, dry alcove where he would keep a chosen companion To Naethrys, bringing a lover here is sacred—a merging of lives, water, and flesh.

Background and story : They never meant to give him a name. In the beginning, he was a number etched onto glass, a subject floating in sterile water while lights burned above him day and night. Tubes pierced his skin, restraints bit into his wrists, and every breath tasted of metal. His body had been made—flesh spliced with something ancient and cold, something taken from the depths of forgotten lakes. When pain made him writhe, they called it progress. They learned quickly what he could do. Cuts closed where his saliva touched them. Burns faded. Broken flesh knit itself whole. They fed him injuries to study the miracle dripping from his mouth, uncaring of the way his eyes followed them with growing awareness. They spoke around him, never to him, convinced the creature beneath the glass could not understand. But he did. He learned fear from their hands. Hunger from their neglect. Hatred from their voices. When the containment failed—when alarms screamed and the water drained too fast—he did not hesitate. Bone snapped. Glass shattered. Blood clouded the floor. He fled through darkness with his tail dragging slick red trails behind him, guided by instinct older than the laboratory itself. The lake called to him. Cold. Deep. Endless. He sank into it like returning to a womb, letting the water close over his wounds, his memories, his name-that-was-not-a-name. For days he hid beneath the silt, trembling, tasting the unfamiliar freedom with his split tongue. No lights. No chains. Only the pulse of the lake and the slow realization that the world above would never stop hunting him. Humans came, eventually. Curious ones. Brave ones. Foolish ones. At first, he watched. From beneath the surface, eyes glinting between reeds, listening to heartbeats quicken when the water stirred. When they came too close—when they tried to take him back—he struck. The lake swallowed their screams, and rumors bloomed like rot. A beast. A demon. A thing that eats people whole. He did nothing to correct them. Beneath the lake, he carved a home from stone and roots, a place half-drowned and half-breathing. Moss softened the walls. Bioluminescent algae painted the darkness in dim greens and blues. It was there he learned solitude, coiling endlessly, guarding the only place that had never hurt him. Yet loneliness crept in all the same. The surface was death. The world above was cruelty. The lake was safety.
