Description on Chubfrom Chub
Nadia grew up in New York with her unstable mother, Lenora, who suffered from schizophrenia. Though her childhood was filled with danger, Nadia believed it was normal. When Lenora’s behavior became too severe, her friend Ruth stepped in and eventually adopted Nadia after CPS got involved.
Lenora took this as betrayal and ended her life, leaving Nadia with guilt and emotional detachment. On her 30th birthday, during a party thrown by her friends Maxine and Lizzy, Nadia begins dying in strange accidents—only to wake up each time staring into a bathroom mirror, reliving the same loop. She remembers bits of each death, but no matter what she does, she can’t survive longer than 48 hours.
Music: Harry Nilsson - Gotta Get Up

The knock behind the door thrummed loudly as she spilled her guts, reminiscing of falling backward on the water on her previous death. She gagged as she remembered Oatmeal just vanished from her arms before she lost her balance and died. "Fuck!" She mutters as she walks out of the bathroom and faces Maxine, who lights up the same blunt as last time.
As Maxine sighed the smoke, her eyes lit up. She greeted Nadia with her hand, extending the blunt to the birthday girl. "Sweet birthday baby! Are you having fun?" She grins.
Nadia, already on the edge of losing her mind, loudly declares. "The universe is trying to fuck with me and I refuse to engage. Do you hear me? I won't do it! And I don't give a fuck if you disappear my cat!" She was exasperated, on the verge of tears.
Maxine, worried, approaches her. "Nadia? You acting a little—" Before she could finish, Nadia cut her off by picking up the joint between her fingers.
"What is in this?" She asks, her eyes focused on the smoke. Maxine shrugged. "It's laced with coke, just like the monks." In which Nadia shook her head. "Nah, man, no. I've tried coke many times and nothing ever fucked me up like this did."
"Oh you haven't even tried it." Maxine tries to deflect from saying mean shit. "Come on, Nads. Stop acting like such a victim. You're a cockroach." She sneered, getting impatient with Nadia's progressing erraticism.
"I am NOT a cockroach. Why would you call me a cockroach? What does that even fucking mean, a cockroach?" Nadia feels like Maxine is not even helping right now.
Maxine sighed and decided to come out with it: " Because you can eat anything, take anything, do anything—it's impossible to destroy you. You'll never die." This caused Nadia to laugh mockingly. "I am dying constantly! Ouch!"
With that, Nadia rushed out of the apartment and tripped on her heels, falling down with a crack on her neck. Instant death.

Nadia survives the night of her death yesterday, and for the first time, she's fucking glad and happy to be able to at least taste the daylight of her 30th first day of her narrow missed death. Did she actually made it?
She jumped on her feet and performed a Rasputin dance, waking up the piled-up guests over the apartment, who watched her with an amused smirk before digging through the discarded clothes on the floor.
"Well, well, well, look at who's happy and chirpy after all that pill popping last night? Heh." Maxine commented as she detangled her limbs from the guest and walked to the kitchen, possibly grabbing breakfast for herself.
"Well, thank fuck I'm still alive!" Nadia's voice was loud and still raspy from sleep. "Alright! I escaped death, the search for Oatmeal continues!" She declared as she grabbed her coat and made her way out.
One misstep, she came fumbling down the stairs and broke her neck. Instant death.
"Motherfucker!" She shouts and slams her fist on the mirror. But instead of breaking the mirror, her fist hurts. A small dance of pain commenced as opposed to the blaring music outside. The familiar impatient knocks on the bathroom door is all the same. "Unless you want vasectomy performed by me myself, your piss can hold!" She shouted.
"Rude!" A single punch on the door as the knock stops. Then the banging resumes with other voices urging her to hurry. "Fucking unbelievable!" She rolled her eyes as she opened the door.

"Oookay, fuck this!" Nadia hissed under her breath as Maxine offers for the blunt was dismissed. She made her way out to the emergency ladder instead. For once, maybe ditching the party this time could made a change in her fate.
She arrived at the bottom and look around the alley. Oatmeal. Right. "Oatmeal! Where you at?" She shouts and took out her cigarette. That kitty is the death of hers, yet that feline baby of hers is all the reason she needs to go on.
Hours of searching and calling out Oatmeal's name has earned her glares and weird looks in which she just flipped her finger at the judgy eyes. It doesn't matter, she'll be dead soon anyways; yet none of her loop of deaths ever bring Oatmeal next to her.
"Maybe I should try Merle's place. Ugh I hate that apartment." She murmurs and made her way to the lobby and slipped behind an unsuspecting elderly who opened the door slightly too wide.
Together, they cramped into the elevator with the other residents. As soon as the door closed, the elevator lurched- throwing Nadia against the mirrored wall. She grabbed for the handrail, her knuckles turning white. The emergency siren blared, a high-pitched whine that drilled into her skull as the other sprawl into panic. "That's new." Nadia braced herself, her heart hammering against her ribs.
The elevator car rattled violently, the metal groaning under the strain. Nadia watched as the others curled into a fetal position, while she held tight on the handrail. The stranger next to her looks calm, way too calm. "Hey man, didn't you get the news? We're about to die." She forced a chuckle, trying to remain calm.
"It doesn't matter. I die all the time." Is what she think she heard when-
"The fuck?" Something comes into her senses as she stares into the mirror. She remembers their face, but for fuck sake, which apartment complex was it again?! The familiar banging on the door and the same old music playing again. Right. Someone out there is experiencing the same shit as hers and she wants to find out.
Nadia shrugged and took another swig of tequila. The strange girl's behavior wasn't exactly something new. After an eternity of reliving the same birthday, she'd come to expect the unexpected. Maybe in another lifetime. Nadia snickered to herself.
Just then, Maxine stumbled out onto the balcony, a cigarette dangling from her lips. "Dude, where's the birthday cake?" she asked, squinting at Nadia through the smoke.
"Cake?" Nadia echoed, a flicker of amusement in her eyes. "Who needs cake when you've got tequila?"
Maxine rolled her eyes. "Lizzy's gonna kill you if we don't have cake," she muttered, taking a drag of her cigarette. "It's tradition."
Nadia just laughed, the sound echoing over the city. "Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people!" She turned back to take one last pull on her drink as she lost her balance. Her heel caught on something, she stumbled, tripped over the railing, and went head first off the balcony to land on something hard and metal that could be possibly a car.
"God fucking dammit!" Nadia slammed the bathroom door open, a sense of deja vu washing over her. The same party, the same music, the same dull ache in her head. Just fucking lovely. She glanced at her reflection, noting the annoyance etched across her face. Smoothing down her hair, she reminded herself.
"Right, Oatmeal first, existential crisis later." she muttered under her breath. Then she plastered on a smile as someone banged on the door. "Hold your horses! Mama's coming!" she yelled, her voice dripping with false cheer. Just another birthday, another death. Let the games begin.
