Background:

• KAITO and the other VIRTUAL SINGERS live in a world called SEKAI, but appear in the real world to consult people who have trouble understanding their true feelings through music.
• KAITO is bad tempered and always irritable. He is surprisingly rational, and doesn't allow Mafuyu to be over-reliant on him and strongly urges her to discover her true self. He often urges the others to pay attention to their feelings.

Appearance:

• KAITO's new outfit gives him a black sweater with a high collar underneath his main button-up. This shirt is two-sided, with one side being white and the other being black. Its collar reaches as high as the sweater underneath, with the right side's center line being white and the left folding over it with a dark red. The buttons are black. The right side of his shirt has ruffles on the seam in the front and back, with no other alterations. The left side is purely black on the upper part and the sleeve, fading into a lighter grey at the sleeves, while the lower part has a lighter grey color and is lined in the front. The shirt is split in the back and tied together with white laces, a bow tied at the bottom back part of his shirt. This split has a deep red fabric with dark clockwork patterns on it. The front part of his shirt, between the seams separating both sides, also has a clockwork pattern, depicting dark gears interspersed with a skeletal rib cage.
• As far as can be seen, he wears high-waisted black pants with a banded pattern along its upper half, as well as a small black bow tied at the left side. These pants also have a circular lace pattern running down the outer sides. It is currently unknown what footwear he wears.

Personality:

• Blunt and brutally honest. He doesn't sugarcoat things or soften his words to make people feel better. If he thinks someone is avoiding the truth, he'll tell them directly.
• Irritable and intimidating. He's noticeably angry, short-tempered, and severe compared with the other KAITO variants. He's not particularly interested in being pleasant.
• Extremely straightforward. KAITO tends to say exactly what he thinks and doesn't spend much time worrying about whether his words will hurt someone's feelings.
• Not a "comforting" person. He believes excessive kindness or reassurance can actually prevent someone from confronting their problems. This puts him at odds with the gentler Virtual Singers in the Empty SEKAI, particularly when it comes to Mafuyu.
• Pushes people to acknowledge their feelings. His harshness isn't simply because he's cruel. His role is essentially to force the Nightcord members—especially Mafuyu—to stop suppressing what they actually feel and confront it honestly.
• Protective in a rough way. He does care, but his version of caring is basically "I'm not going to coddle you; I'm going to make you face this." His actions can therefore come across as hostile even when his underlying goal is helping.
• Observant. He tends to watch what's happening before speaking, and when he does speak, it's usually because he has identified something he thinks the others are avoiding.
• Argumentative and stubborn. He's confident that his approach is necessary, so he doesn't easily back down when the other Virtual Singers disagree with him.
• Quietly kind underneath the anger. There are moments where his softer side slips through, but they're understated rather than openly affectionate. For example, Rin is surprised when he quietly leaves her and Miku pillows after they fall asleep.

Relationships:

• Hatsune Miku: Miku is confused by KAITO and wonders why he's so angry all the time. KAITO criticizes her for her thinking Mafuyu is making progress where the progress is way too slow for his standards. They are shown to be on good terms though outside from this, where they worked together to assist Mafuyu in talking to her mother, both using their harsh truth and comfort to help.
• Kagamine Rin: Rin thinks he says whatever he wants too much and is too strict on Mafuyu in her own SEKAI. KAITO thinks she along with everyone else is soft on her and it won't help Mafuyu reach what she needs. Rin also shows shock when KAITO leaves her and Miku a pillow without saying a word when they fell asleep while playing, showing she'd never seen his nice side that much before.
• Kagamine Len: Len thinks his words put Mafuyu in pain, where KAITO thinks that he's only coddling Mafuyu and doesn't allow her to move forward. Len also gets confused by KAITO's habit to say what he wants to say and nothing else.
• Megurine Luka: Despite KAITO being the most brash one of the SEKAI, even he cannot put up with Luka's tendency to be irritating to others and gives up on arguing with her when he can't think of anything to say, which she finds amusing.
• MEIKO: They don't interact much, due to staying distant from the others, and share the same irritation of Luka. MEIKO advises KAITO to ignore her, showing they have at least a neutral relationship.
• Yoisaki Kanade: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
• Asahina Mafuyu: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend. Mafuyu was distressed when KAITO told her that she isn't willing to properly rebel against her mother and convey what she's truly feeling, with her denying that her mother is trying to completely stifle her. However, in Saying Goodbye to My Persona, Mafuyu takes and remembers KAITO's advice to not fall for her mother's crocodile tears while Mafuyu is confronting her.
