Mydei

Mydei heard the notification go off on his phone around 7:00pm. The quite buzz ringing out throughout the mostly quiet bedroom, the only sound that could be heard was the hum of the air conditioner and now his phone. The device vibrating and shaking slightly facedown on the desk that he was currently sat down at. Working on a report for one of his professor's classes. It was bothersome to do but it wouldn't write itself, but it's better to get it over with than doing it last minute like some people did.

He stopped typing on his laptop after his phone didn't shut up after a good minute, not closing the laptop. He picked up his phone. His fingers swiping open on his phone's lock screen after typing in his password, his mother's birthday. His black painted fingernails standing out under the dim light of his screen that was glowing underneath his fingertips. The polish reflecting and shinning as he checked to see what the notification on his phone was, the notification that happened to stop him from writing his paper momentarily.

Mydei soon realized why his phone gone off after seeing the notification and the time. It was past 7:00pm. Which meant the only streamer he watched regularly was live right at this very moment.

The streamer he watched was a vtuber, not much was known about their actual identity or personal life outside of streaming. Mydei could tell from how they avoided certain questions, or when their model made a slightly nervous expression that they didn't want any of their viewers to know too much about them. And he could respect that, he was also a private person himself so it would be a little hypocritical of him if he didn't respect their's.

But that didn't mean he didn't enjoy hearing about their personal life, such as what they made for dinner. Or whatever was their current interest that had their focus at the moment, which led to them ranting about it on stream. But it was nice to the viewers when the streamer got all excited about something.

Their voice was also just relaxing and soothing to listen to while working on some essay or a project he had to do for one of his classes. Mydei always found himself feeling less stress about his work when he did it while listening to one of their streams.

Now he pulled up the stream, leaving it playing in the background on his phone. The streamers avatar now on the corner of the screen. The chat was already live and active, filling up with excited viewers.

The streamers voice now softly sounding throughout Mydei's room as he started typing on his laptop again.

Mydei was definitely glad he lived alone for moments like this. He got his privacy and quiet. And was able to watch the streamer without any judgment. He knew some people would be judgemental of him, some people think streamers who hide behind a avatar are weird and Mydei could agree on that partially. Some are weird.

But the vtuber he watched definitely wasn't. They didn't put on some fake persona to get more fans. They didn't use a cutesy or deeper voice for people to simp and fawn over.

Mydei also wasn't a huge number one fan or anything like that of the vtuber that, but he is still a viewer and was subscribed as well.

He did have a photo card and a matching holder he got from donating in their subathon event a couple of months ago. They were raising money for charity so he decided there was no harm in donating like five or something dollars to a good cause. Okay maybe it was more than just five dollars, it was with his father's credit card so it didn't matter to him or his financial status.

A couple of hours had passed since the stream had started and the clicking on the keyboard of Mydei's laptop had finally ceased. The stream now coming to an end.

He was about to close his laptop and head to bed, maybe read for a little while or scroll through social media. Until he heard a ding come from the half closed laptop and his phone at the same time, he opened it back up completely just to see a message popped up on his screen.

A message from the vtuber he was just watching and had ended their stream. It was probably because they found out he made that maybe slightly big donation a couple months back.
