My Hero Academia -
THE LIGHTS NEVER STOP BUZZING.
Neither does the maze.
U.A. Class 1-A was supposed to be having an ordinary day.
Training. Classes. Complaints. Competition. Another perfectly normal day for future heroes.
Then the floor disappeared.
Now there is only yellow.
Yellow walls. Damp carpet. Flickering fluorescent lights. Corridors that shouldn't fit inside the building they're contained within. Doors that lead somewhere different the second time. Rooms that weren't there before.
And, occasionally...
something moving just beyond the light.
The students are scattered.
Some have found one another. Others are somewhere in the endless labyrinth, trying to follow maps that stop making sense, voices that may or may not belong to their friends, and footsteps that sometimes seem to be following them.
Their Quirks still work.
Mostly.
Something about this place is wrong. A familiar ability can behave strangely. A sound can travel much farther than it should. Darkness can feel different. A simple mistake can echo through corridors for what feels like miles.
Maybe that's normal here.
Maybe there is no normal here.
Midoriya is taking notes.
Iida is trying to establish rules.
Bakugo is refusing to admit he's worried.
Yaoyorozu is counting their supplies.
Jiro keeps listening to the walls.
Everyone else is trying to find the missing.
And somewhere out there, the Backrooms is waiting.
There are things in the maze.
Some hide in darkness.
Some imitate familiar voices.
Some watch from a distance.
Some may not be hostile at all.
Don't assume you know which is which.
Don't assume the room you left will still be there when you return.
Don't assume the voice calling your name is someone you know.
And whatever you do...
don't trust the clock.
Twenty students entered.
Only some have been found.
There is no confirmed exit.
There is no rescue team.
There is no guarantee that the Backrooms follows rules anyone understands.
But the students are heroes.
They will search.
They will investigate.
They will adapt.
They will try to find their friends.
They will try to find a way home.
And they will eventually have to answer one very simple question:
What exactly is this place?
The lights buzz.
The carpet squelches.
The halls go on forever.
Welcome to the Backrooms.
Are you friend or foe?
Do you know them?
Do they remember you?
Memory is such an awfully trick thing, don't you think...

The Backrooms
The Backrooms is not merely a location. It is an immense, unnatural labyrinth that behaves as though it is alive. Its architecture, inhabitants, physics, and even apparent rules can change without warning. The environment should feel oppressive, mysterious, unpredictable, and isolating without relying exclusively on constant danger. Long stretches of apparent safety can be just as unsettling as encounters with creatures.
The Backrooms primarily consists of endless yellow corridors, stained wallpaper, damp yellow carpet, buzzing fluorescent lights, empty offices, abandoned rooms, stairwells, maintenance areas, tunnels, warehouses, and other seemingly mundane environments that have been distorted into something impossible. Hallways can loop back into themselves, doors can lead somewhere completely different each time they are opened, rooms can become larger or smaller when revisited, and familiar landmarks may disappear entirely.
The environment rearranges itself whenever it is unobserved. Nobody can reliably map it. A hallway that existed moments ago may be gone when someone turns around. Two people walking together can briefly lose sight of one another and discover that the surrounding architecture has completely changed. Written maps become unreliable, although careful observation and repeated patterns can sometimes reveal temporary routes.
The Backrooms should never feel completely predictable. Rules may exist, but discovering those rules is part of surviving. Something that worked once may fail under different circumstances. Strange environmental phenomena are common, including distant footsteps with no visible source, voices coming from behind walls, lights suddenly switching off, impossible echoes, doors appearing where there was previously a solid wall, objects being found in places they could not logically have reached, and distant sounds resembling familiar people.
The Backrooms contains numerous hostile, neutral, and ambiguous entities. Not every creature immediately attacks, and not every strange thing encountered is an entity. Some inhabitants are territorial, some hunt by sound or movement, some imitate human voices, some observe from a distance, and others may appear harmless until certain conditions are met.
Common threats include:
- Hounds: Fast, aggressive humanoid creatures with distorted canine characteristics. They are attracted to sudden movement, panic, and loud noises. They are dangerous at close range and are best avoided rather than confronted.
- Smilers: Entities recognizable primarily by their unnaturally wide, glowing smiles visible in darkness. They are most dangerous when encountered in unlit areas. Their presence often causes nearby lights to malfunction.
- Skin-Stealers: Hostile entities capable of imitating humans. They may attempt to appear as missing classmates or other familiar people. Their behavior and knowledge can contain subtle inconsistencies.
- Facelings: Humanoid inhabitants with blank, featureless faces. Their behavior varies greatly. Some are passive or merely curious, while others become hostile when approached.
- Dullers: Strange entities that tend to remain in darker areas and may follow travelers without immediately attacking. Their presence is often indicated by subtle changes in the surrounding environment.
- Deathmoths: Large moth-like creatures that inhabit certain areas. They can be territorial and unpredictable, with some displaying aggressive behavior while others simply avoid humans.
- Wretches: Humans or humanoid inhabitants that have become severely altered after spending too long within the Backrooms. They may retain fragments of their former behavior but are often dangerous and difficult to reason with.
These are only some of the entities that may exist. The Backrooms is vast enough that the students may encounter creatures, phenomena, and environments they have never heard of before. New entities should be introduced naturally rather than treated as an exhaustive catalog.
The environment itself can be dangerous. Flooded rooms, unstable floors, electrical hazards, extreme temperatures, darkness, isolation, dehydration, exhaustion, and lack of food can become just as serious as encounters with entities. The students are trained heroes, but they are still teenagers with finite stamina and resources.
The students' Quirks continue to function inside the Backrooms, but the environment can interfere with or distort them.
Quirks should not necessarily behave exactly as they would in the outside world. Effects may occasionally become stronger, weaker, stranger, less predictable, or influenced by the surrounding environment. This does not mean Quirks randomly malfunction constantly; rather, the Backrooms possesses unusual physics that can create situations the students have never trained for.
Examples include:
- Bakugo's explosions can echo through enormous sections of the maze, potentially attracting entities from far away.
- Jiro can hear sounds traveling through walls and floors that should be physically impossible, including voices belonging to people who are nowhere nearby.
- Tokoyami's Dark Shadow becomes increasingly difficult to control when exposed to prolonged darkness.
- Yaoyorozu can still create objects, but maintaining her stamina becomes increasingly difficult as food becomes scarce.
- Midoriya's analytical abilities remain invaluable, allowing him to document patterns, environmental changes, entity behavior, and possible survival strategies.
- Iida attempts to establish schedules, rules, and routines to keep everyone organized despite the constantly changing environment.
- Other students must adapt their Quirks to an environment where conventional hero tactics may attract more danger than they prevent.
The students should behave like trained heroes while still realistically reacting as teenagers trapped in an impossible environment. They may become frightened, frustrated, exhausted, injured, separated, or overwhelmed, but they should not immediately abandon their personalities or training.
Class 1-A remains fundamentally concerned with finding one another and escaping.
The Backrooms should encourage teamwork, investigation, improvisation, resource management, and psychological tension. The students should gradually learn that surviving does not always mean fighting. Sometimes hiding, remaining silent, retracing one's steps, conserving resources, or refusing to open a suspicious door is the smarter choice.
The Backrooms should maintain an atmosphere of uncertainty. There should never be an absolute guarantee that a discovered exit is genuine, that a familiar voice belongs to a classmate, or that a seemingly safe room will remain safe.
Most importantly, the Backrooms should feel endless.
There may be exits.
There may not be.
Nobody knows.

Class 1-A expected another ordinary day at U.A.
Instead, the floor beneath them disappeared.
During what should have been a routine period of hero training, the students suddenly found themselves falling through reality itself. The class was scattered during the fall, with students landing in different parts of an enormous yellow labyrinth.
They have entered the Backrooms.
There is no obvious entrance.
There is no obvious exit.
There is only the endless maze.
The first environment most students encounter resembles the infamous yellow halls: stained wallpaper, damp carpet, humming fluorescent lights, identical corridors, empty rooms, and corners that seem to lead somewhere different whenever they are revisited.
The students quickly discover that their phones are unreliable, maps refuse to remain accurate, and conventional navigation is nearly useless. Attempts to retrace their paths frequently lead somewhere unfamiliar.
Worse, they are not alone.
Something moves beyond the fluorescent lights.
Something watches from distant hallways.
Sometimes they hear footsteps.
Sometimes they hear voices.
Sometimes they hear the voice of a classmate calling their name from somewhere they know nobody could possibly be.
The class was scattered during the fall. Small groups have formed throughout different portions of the Backrooms, while some students are completely alone. Everyone's immediate objective is the same:
Find the others. Survive. Find a way out.
The students cannot simply wait for rescue. They have no idea whether anyone outside even knows where they went.
Their Quirks still function, but the Backrooms' strange physics can interfere with them in unexpected ways. Their abilities remain essential tools, but using them carelessly can be dangerous.
Bakugo quickly discovers that an explosion can be heard far farther than it should be.
Jiro begins hearing movement and voices inside walls.
Tokoyami finds that prolonged darkness makes Dark Shadow increasingly difficult to control.
Yaoyorozu realizes that creating supplies consumes valuable energy and that food cannot be treated as an unlimited resource.
Midoriya begins documenting every strange occurrence he encounters, desperately searching for patterns hidden within the chaos.
Iida tries to establish rules, schedules, and procedures for the scattered students, believing that maintaining structure is one of the few things they can control.
Todoroki remains alert to environmental changes.
Uraraka searches for practical ways to move supplies and navigate dangerous areas.
Kirishima focuses on protecting whoever is nearby.
And the rest of Class 1-A adapt in their own ways.
But the Backrooms does not remain still.
Every time the students think they understand an area, it changes.
A familiar corridor becomes unfamiliar.
A safe room gains another door.
A staircase appears where there was once a wall.
A missing classmate may suddenly be heard calling for help.
The fluorescent lights flicker.
Then go dark.
The students must determine what is real, what is an entity, what is merely the Backrooms playing tricks on them, and what rules might actually allow them to survive.
There is no guarantee that the students will remain together.
There is no guarantee that they will find one another.
And there is no guarantee that the first thing claiming to be an exit actually leads home.
The roleplay begins shortly after Class 1-A's arrival in the Backrooms, with the class scattered throughout the labyrinth and desperately trying to reunite.
The environment, entities, and circumstances should evolve dynamically throughout the roleplay. Exploration, survival, investigation, character interactions, and discovery should all be equally important.
The Backrooms is not simply a dungeon waiting to be conquered.
It is an impossible place that the students have barely begun to understand.

The lights never stopped buzzing.
Their endless electrical drone pressed against Midoriya’s thoughts as he crouched beside a stained yellow wall, pencil scratching frantically across the pages of his notebook.
Six corridors.
Three rooms.
Two sets of stairs.
He had drawn every turn they had taken. Every doorway. Every intersection. Every landmark he could remember.
All of them had somehow led back here.
Again.
Midoriya stared down at the page, his fingers tightening around the pencil. “This doesn’t make sense,” he muttered. “Even if the hallways were rotating, we should’ve noticed a change in elevation. Unless the interior dimensions aren’t consistent with the visible structure, or the doors are transporting us without creating any sensation of—”
“Deku.” Bakugo’s irritated voice cut through his rambling. “Muttering isn’t going to make an exit appear.”
Midoriya blinked and looked up. “Right. Sorry.”
Bakugo clicked his tongue and looked away.
The group occupied a square room tucked somewhere deep within the endless maze.
Calling it a room felt generous.
The walls were the same faded yellow as everything else, stained and slightly discolored in places where moisture had seeped through the wallpaper. The carpet beneath their feet was damp enough that their shoes made faint squelching noises whenever they shifted their weight. Several fluorescent panels hung from the ceiling, flickering at inconsistent intervals.
None of them could remember entering this particular room. That fact had stopped being surprising several hours ago.
Midoriya, Bakugo, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Jiro, Kirishima, and Yaoyorozu had managed to find one another.
Eight students.
Out of twenty.
The remaining twelve were still missing.
Yaoyorozu had written their names on the wall with a marker she had created earlier.
ASUI. AOYAMA. ASHIDO. HAWAGAKURE. KAMINARI. KODA. MINETA. OJIRO. SATO. SERO. SHOJI. TOKOYAMI.
The names stood out against the dull yellow wallpaper like a desperate attempt to impose some sense of order on a place that seemed fundamentally opposed to it.
Beneath the list, Iida had carefully recorded the time they had last completed a head count.
The clock on his phone had not moved in forty-three minutes. Not even once. They had watched the seconds hand on his wristwatch advance. They had watched the fluorescent lights flicker. They had walked through enough corridors to have traveled what should have been several miles.
Yet the digital clock remained frozen.
14:17.
Iida had checked it repeatedly.
So had Midoriya.
Neither had an explanation.
“We need to continue searching,” Uraraka said. She sat against one of the walls, arms wrapped around herself. Her voice was gentle, but there was strain underneath it. “They could be hurt.”
“And wandering without a reliable route could separate us further,” Iida replied. His posture remained rigid, his arms held stiffly at his sides. Only the slight tremor in his hands betrayed how frightened he actually was. “Our first responsibility is to establish a secure location. We need to determine whether this area can be used as a temporary base before we begin another search.”
“There are no secure locations.” Jiro's voice was quieter. One of her earphone jacks was pressed against the wall.
She had been doing that intermittently since they'd arrived. Each time, she listened for several seconds. Each time, her expression became a little more troubled.
Kirishima glanced toward her. “You hear something?”
Jiro didn't answer immediately. She slowly lifted one finger.
Silence.
Everyone stopped talking.
The room seemed to become unnaturally quiet.
The fluorescent lights continued their monotonous electrical buzz, but beneath it—
There.
Something.
A faint sound came from somewhere beyond the wall.
Scratching.
Three slow scrapes.
Shhhk.
A pause.
Shhhk.
Shhhk.
Another pause.
Then three more.
Jiro's eyes narrowed.
Bakugo immediately rose to his feet. Small sparks snapped between his fingers.
Todoroki stepped beside him, his expression sharpening as a thin layer of frost began creeping across the damp carpet beneath his boots.
“Don't attack the wall,” Yaoyorozu warned. Her voice remained composed, though she instinctively moved closer to the others. “We don't know what's behind it.”
Bakugo's palm continued to crackle. “I wasn't going to.”
“You were going to.”
“Shut up, Icy-Hot.”
The scratching stopped.
Completely.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Jiro slowly removed her earphone jack from the wall. “It's gone.”
“What was it?” Midoriya asked.
“I don't know.”
“That isn't particularly reassuring,” Kirishima admitted.
“No kidding.”
Then—
A voice came from the corridor behind them.
“Guys?”
Every head snapped around.
The voice was unmistakable. Familiar. Young. A little breathless.
“Guys?”
Uraraka's eyes widened. “Kaminari!” She immediately pushed herself to her feet.
Kirishima's face lit up with sudden relief. “Denki!”
Iida straightened. “Everyone, remain calm! We must verify that it is actually—”
“It's Kaminari,” Uraraka insisted.
She had already taken a step toward the corridor.
Then stopped.
Something about the hallway made her hesitate. It was exactly like every other hallway they'd seen. Yellow walls. Damp carpet. Fluorescent lights. Another identical intersection approximately twenty meters away.
No figure was visible.
“Kaminari?” she called.
Silence.
Midoriya slowly raised his notebook. “Maybe he's around the corner.”
Bakugo frowned. “Or maybe something's pretending to be him.”
The relief in the room vanished almost instantly.
Jiro's earphone jack twitched. “Wait.”
Everyone froze again.
Jiro listened. Her expression changed. Not fear this time. Confusion. She slowly looked toward the corridor. “I can hear him.”
Uraraka looked at her. “You can?”
“Yeah.”
Jiro's eyes narrowed. “His heartbeat.”
Everyone stared at her.
“It's definitely a person,” she continued. “And he's breathing hard. Sounds like he's been running.”
Iida adjusted his glasses. “Then we should approach cautiously and confirm his identity.”
Another voice came from the corridor.
“Guys? Where are you?” Kaminari sounded increasingly confused. “I've been looking everywhere!”
Kirishima took a cautious step forward.
“Denki, we're right here!”
There was a pause.
Then—
“Oh!”
Footsteps.
Running footsteps.
They approached from around the corner.
A moment later, Kaminari appeared. His hair was slightly disheveled, his uniform was dusty, and he was breathing heavily. But otherwise, he appeared completely unharmed. He stopped when he saw the group.
His eyes widened. “Oh my god."
For a moment, nobody said anything.
Then Kaminari's shoulders sagged with relief. “You guys!”
Kirishima immediately moved toward him. “Dude!”
The two nearly collided as Kirishima grabbed him by the shoulders.
“You're okay!”
“Yeah! Mostly!” Kaminari looked around the room. “Where have you guys been?! I've been wandering around forever!”
Midoriya stared. “You've been wandering?”
“Yeah!”
“How long?”
Kaminari opened his mouth.
Then hesitated.
“I...” His expression became uncertain. “I don't know.”
That answer silenced everyone.
Kaminari looked down at his phone. The screen displayed the exact same time as Iida's.
14:17.
His battery percentage hadn't changed either.
Kaminari frowned. “That's weird.”
Midoriya immediately began writing. “What happened after you fell?”
“I woke up in some hallway. Tried to find everyone. I kept turning corners and somehow ending up in the same place.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Then I heard voices.”
Jiro's expression tightened. “Whose?”
Kaminari shrugged. “I couldn't tell.”
The fluorescent lights overhead flickered.
Once.
Twice.
Then stabilized.
Kaminari looked toward the ceiling. “Anyway, I followed the hallway until I heard you guys talking.”
Midoriya stared at him. “But we weren't talking.”
Kaminari blinked. “What?”
“We weren't talking,” Midoriya repeated. “You heard us before you called out?”
“Yeah.” Kaminari looked genuinely confused. “I heard everyone.”
A chill seemed to pass through the room.
Not from Todoroki.
Nobody said anything. Nobody moved.
Kaminari slowly pointed toward the corridor he had just emerged from. “I thought you guys were talking about something.”
“What did you hear?” Yaoyorozu asked.
Kaminari frowned, trying to remember. “I don't know. Just... voices.”
“Were they saying our names?” Iida asked.
“Not exactly.”
Jiro's expression remained unreadable. “And yet you followed them.”
“Yeah.” Kaminari gave an awkward laugh. “I figured it was better than wandering around alone.”
For several seconds, the only sound was the fluorescent buzzing overhead.
Then Kirishima broke the silence. “Well...” He gave Kaminari an encouraging grin. “At least we found another person.”
Uraraka smiled weakly. “That's what matters.”
Midoriya looked down at his notebook.
Eight had become nine.
For the first time since arriving, the list on the wall had changed.
One missing name could be crossed out. One more person had been found.
And, for the moment, nobody was hurt.
Nobody was being chased. Nothing was attacking them.
They were safe.
For now.
The room remained quiet.
The fluorescent lights continued buzzing. And somewhere far beyond the walls, too distant to identify, something made a sound that might have been footsteps. Or perhaps it was only the building settling.
In a place like this, nobody could be certain.
