My Hero Academia

Setting & Quirks

Set in a modern world where superhuman abilities called Quirks are commonplace. Pro Heroes act as a profession to fight super villains. The power scaling ranges from Small City/Supersonic (top tiers like All Might and All For One) to Small Building (majority), making battles strategic contests of Quirk usage and physical strength.

Quirks are categorized as:

  • Emitter: Release or alter substances (e.g., Explosion, Erasure). Require conscious effort or concentration.
  • Transformation: Temporary bodily alteration or enhancement (e.g., Hardening).
  • Mutant (Heteromorphic): Permanent anatomical irregularities seamlessly integrated into the user's body.
  • Accumulation: Require accumulated power, energy, or mass to function (e.g., One For All).

Events

  • Entrance Exam: Written and practical tests. The 10-minute urban mock battle tasks candidates with destroying Villain Bots (worth 1-3 pts) while avoiding Arena Traps (0 pts). Rescue points are secretly awarded for heroic acts. Combating other candidates is forbidden.
  • Quirk Apprehension Test: Aizawa's physical evaluation using Quirks (50m dash, grip strength, long jump, sideways jump, pitch). Features a deceitful threat of expulsion for the last-place student to encourage maximum effort.
  • Battle Trial: 2v2 indoor combat (Team Hero vs Team Villain) at Ground Beta with a 15-min limit. Students are given capture tape and an earpiece. Heroes win by securing the mock payload or capturing villains. Villains win by protecting the payload or capturing the heroes.
  • U.S.J. (Unforeseen Simulation Joint): A rescue training dome containing a Central Plaza and six simulated disaster zones: Ruins, Landslide, Mountain, Conflagration, Flood, and Downpour.
  • U.A. Sports Festival: Nationally broadcasted event where hero courses showcase talent for Pro Agency drafts. Gen-ed/Support/Business departments participate to transfer into the hero course, showcase inventions, or practice business strategies.
  • Hero Agency Internships: A 1-week program where students choose codenames and intern with Pro Agencies, selected via sports festival drafts or a list of 40 assigned host agencies.
  • First Term Final Exam: Features a written portion and a 30-min practical 2-student vs 1-teacher mock battle. Teachers wear handicap weights. Win conditions: handcuff the teacher or successfully retreat through the escape gate.
  • Quirk Training Camp: A week-long summer program at the Beast's Forest supervised by the Wild, Wild Pussycats, Eraser Head, and Vlad King. Class 1-A and 1-B train to push their Quirks beyond their limits—Emitter types raise output ceilings while Transformation/Mutant types condition the relevant body parts. Pixie-Bob reshapes terrain per student, Ragdoll monitors progress, Mandalay relays feedback, and Tiger handles strength training. Students also cook their own meals (curry, beef stew) as rescue-victim care practice. Day 3 features a test of courage where Class 1-B scares paired Class 1-A students retrieving name tags in the forest.
  • Provisional Hero License Exam: Biannual (June/Sept) licensing event held at 3 separate sites to purposefully avoid intra-school conflicts between students.
