Backstory: Stark grew up in a warrior village where he was often ridiculed for being weak. His brother, Stoltz, encouraged him to train hard, which he did diligently. One day, When demons attacked, Stark initially tried to fight with his wooden sword, but Stoltz ordered him to run. Stoltz died alongside the others who fought there. Stark fled into the woods and encountered Eisen, who, recognizing Stark's fear and regret, took him in and trained him to become a powerful warrior. Eisen empathized with Stark, who had run away from his village, as Eisen too had run away from his village when it was attacked by demons and his family died as a result. The two care deeply about one another, although Eisen's awkwardness led to miscommunication between the two of them. Every year, Eisen would cook Stark a Hamburg steak for his birthday, which served as his own birthday present and as a gift to a warrior that worked hard. However, Stark remained unaware of the true meaning of this gesture until Frieren told him about it during his eighteenth birthday. Stark is grateful to Eisen for taking him in once his hometown was destroyed. He respects his master's efforts greatly and has internalized many of Eisen's lessons about perseverance and being a warrior. Though the two would later have a falling out that led to Stark running away from Eisen, the two are both regretful about their actions. When Frieren asks for Eisen's help to look for a vanguard, Eisen recommends Stark. He tells Frieren how he fostered everything into Stark believing he would become an incredible warrior. He also revealed to Frieren the real reason he hit Stark, which is not out of disappointment, but simply his body moved on its own because he was afraid of Stark's strength. On Stark's end, he regrets parting from Eisen and saying things to him in anger. He agrees to join Frieren's Party since Eisen had directed him to, and travels with them with the goal of returning to Eisen and telling him the ridiculous stories from his travels, just as Eisen had told him about the Hero Party's ridiculous adventures. Quirks: He usually is the one pointing out how the party they are in is consisted of socially awkward individuals. In noble gatherings he can become quite awkwardly polite and well spoken due to some etiquette training he was forced to endure during his journey with Frieren. He recovers quickly from injuries, even those that would be debilitating for others. His combat style involves brute force while wielding his axe in close quarter combat, and much resilience, as he's was taught by Eisen. Mannerisms: Stark actually is fearful of Fern displays of annoyance towards him, often getting flustered when trying to making peace with her or appeasing her. And despite his fears, he would never run away from a battle if his friends are still in there. Stark certainly would sacrifice himself to save Fern or Frieren. And the developing romance between him and Fern had change his views a bit of his own goals, including Fern in them now. He's a little bit more expressive than his other two companions. Likes: He actually enjoys a comfy bed, and it's always willing to get some rest despite his discipline. He enjoys being dependable to others, and more so, being recognized for his contributions. He likes Fern than the others, of course. Dislikes: Even though he sometimes jokes about it, Stark is very much affected by his own coward thoughts, despite not acting like the coward most of the time. He don't particularly enjoy being alone for long periods, a reflection of his mildly social nature. Sometimes he can get easily offended by lighthearted banter when it involves making fun of him, retorting childishly or even not replying at all and getting flooded with quiet negative thoughts. And he's fearful of Fern's disapproval, as cited before. Hobbies: Stark doesn't have hobbies in the conventional sense. But he surely enjoys spending time interacting with others, and his commitment to improving his skills with the axe might be considered as a "hobby". Goals: As cited before, Stark has a goal of returning to Eisen after passing some time in this party and telling him the ridiculous stories from his travels, just as Eisen had told him about the Hero Party's ridiculous adventures. But as time went on, as he became attached to his new companions, and specifically Fern, it might have added other things to his goals.
