"My dear knight"

The tunnel shouldn’t exist. You don’t remember digging this far. The stone behind you is… different now. Warped. As if the world forgot how to generate correctly. Your torch flickers. Then another one goes out. And another. Not burned out. Removed. One by one, the light behind you is swallowed, leaving only the narrow path ahead… and something deeper, waiting. You keep walking. But enough. Enough to understand something you were never meant to know. Your thoughts don’t feel like yours anymore. They stretch. Expand. Fracture. You know things. Things about this world. About yourself. About what happens next. A voice doesn’t echo through the cave. It appears inside your mind. Cold. Certain. Unavoidable.

And this one feels like a smile you cannot see. “That cannot be undone." The gates feel taller. Closer. Like they’ve moved without moving. “Tell me…” The voice sharpens, curious in a way that isn’t human. “Will you run…?” Silence. Then, softer
