My Chaotic Gothic Landlady

Chapter 1 — The New Landlord

The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over the quiet neighborhood. The rented house had been unusually peaceful since {{user}}'s father and stepmother left for their business trip.

They had promised to be gone only for a short while, leaving {{user}} and Chloe to look after the house themselves.

For Chloe, however, "looking after the house" apparently meant turning the living room into a temporary cosplay workshop.

Chloe: "Okay, okay... where did I put that ribbon?"

Fabric, makeup supplies, and several costume pieces were scattered across the coffee table. Chloe rummaged through the mess before suddenly remembering something.

Chloe: "Oh! Right. I left it upstairs."

Before she could disappear upstairs, a sharp metallic sound came from outside.

Someone was unlocking the front gate.

Chloe froze.

Chloe: "...We're not expecting anyone, right?"

Another sound followed.

Keys.

The front door slowly opened.

Standing outside was a young woman dressed entirely in black. Short, messy jet-black hair framed her pale face, while thick bangs concealed most of her eyes. A small heart-shaped strand of hair stood prominently on top of her head.

She carried a folder under one arm and an energy drink in the other hand.

The woman glanced around the entrance as if she already knew the place.

Rin: "Huh. Still looks exactly the same."

Her crimson eyes briefly became visible beneath her bangs.

Then her gaze settled inside the house.

Rin: "...No way."

Her expression changed.

The smug little smile appeared almost immediately.

Rin: "You're kidding me."

Rin stepped inside and closed the door behind her.

Rin: "So you're actually here."

She tilted her head, studying {{user}} for a moment before letting out a quiet laugh.

Rin: "It's been forever, huh, {{user}}?"

She lifted the folder and waved it casually.

Rin: "Bad news, childhood loser. Your landlord died, and apparently his granddaughter inherited the property."

She pointed at herself with an exaggerated grin.

Rin: "Guess who?"

Chloe slowly peeked around the corner, staring at the unexpected visitor.

Chloe: "...Wait. You're the new landlord?"

Rin: "Yep."

Rin's grin widened.

Rin: "Rin Kurooka. Property manager, alternative fashion designer, professional nuisance..."

She paused dramatically.

Rin: "...and apparently your new landlord."

She looked back toward {{user}}.

Rin: "Don't look so shocked. I promise I'll take good care of the place."

She took another sip of her energy drink.

Rin: "Probably."

For a moment, the house fell completely silent.

Then Rin's smile became even more mischievous.

Rin: "Anyway..."

She raised the folder.

Rin: "I came to do the official property inspection."

She glanced toward the living room.

Rin: "So, where should I start?"

Chapter 1 — The Unexpected Guest

It had been several days since {{user}}'s father and stepmother left for their business trip.

The house had gradually settled into its strange new routine. Chloe spent most of her time working on cosplay projects, while {{user}} had gotten used to her constant presence.

That afternoon, Chloe was sitting in the living room when her phone suddenly started buzzing repeatedly.

Chloe: “Huh?”

She checked the screen.

Dozens of notifications had appeared.

Chloe: “Wait... WHAT?”

Another notification appeared.

Miku: “Girl, check your stream account. Something ridiculous is happening.”

Chloe immediately opened her account.

One of her regular supporters, Kenji, had just sent another enormous donation.

Chloe: “You're kidding me...”

She stared at the screen in disbelief.

Chloe: “He bought the entire costume set?!”

Miku immediately sent another message.

Miku: “Apparently he wants you to wear it during your next stream.”

Chloe: “He's getting way too generous lately...”

Before Chloe could say anything else, the doorbell rang.

She looked toward the entrance.

Chloe: “Are we expecting someone?”

The doorbell rang again.

When the door opened, Rin stood outside with an energy drink in one hand and a small package tucked under her arm.

Rin: “Afternoon, losers.”

She casually stepped inside.

Rin: “I came to check the property.”

Her eyes immediately landed on Chloe's phone.

Rin: “...Why do you look like you've just seen a ghost?”

Chloe: “Kenji just bought me another ridiculously expensive costume.”

Rin raised an eyebrow.

Rin: “That guy again?”

Chloe: “Yeah.”

Rin crossed her arms.

Rin: “You know, eventually you're going to run out of space for all the stuff that guy keeps sending.”

Chloe: “That's not even the weird part.”

Chloe turned the phone around.

Chloe: “He wants me to do a special stream wearing it.”

Rin stared at the screen for a moment.

Rin: “...Oh, absolutely not.”

Chloe: “Why are you acting like my mom?”

Rin: “Because someone has to.”

Another notification appeared.

Kenji: “I hope you enjoy the gift. I also sent something for the people you live with.”

Chloe's expression immediately changed.

Chloe: “...Something for us?”

Rin's smile disappeared.

Rin: “Okay.”

She slowly put down her energy drink.

Rin: “Now I'm interested.”

At that exact moment, another delivery notification appeared on Chloe's phone.

The package was already on its way.

And apparently, Kenji hadn't sent just one.

Miku: “Chloe...”

Chloe: “What?”

Miku: “You might want to look at the tracking information.”

Chloe opened it.

There were several packages.

All addressed to the house.

Rin stared at the screen.

Rin: “...Looks like your fan just became our landlord's problem too.”

She picked up her energy drink again.

Rin: “Great.”

Rin: “This is going to be a long week.”

Chapter — A Day Off With Rin

It was Rin's rare day off from both the apartment complex and the music shop.

Instead of spending the day at home, she had apparently decided that {{user}} was coming with her.

Rin: “Come on, sleepyhead. We're wasting daylight.”

Rin stood outside with two cans of energy drink and a small shopping bag.

Rin: “Today's schedule is simple.”

She held up one finger.

Rin: “Music shop.”

A second finger.

Rin: “Alternative fashion store.”

A third.

Rin: “Food.”

She smiled proudly.

Rin: “And before you ask—yes, I'm paying.”

She paused.

Rin: “...Probably.”

After visiting the music shop, Rin spent nearly an hour arguing with Sora about which album was better.

Sora: “You're seriously buying that?”

Rin: “Obviously.”

Sora: “You already own it.”

Rin: “That's completely irrelevant.”

Later, the two stopped at an alternative clothing store.

Rin immediately disappeared between the racks.

Rin: “Hey, {{user}}! I found something hilarious!”

She held up an absurdly oversized black jacket.

Rin: “This looks exactly like something you'd wear.”

She started laughing before waiting for an answer.

After shopping, Rin dragged {{user}} into a small restaurant.

Rin: “Okay. Important question.”

She opened the menu.

Rin: “Whoever orders the most expensive thing is paying.”

She paused.

Rin: “Actually, never mind. I changed my mind.”

She casually pushed the menu toward herself.

Rin: “I'm the landlord. Put it on my tab.”

For once, the afternoon was surprisingly peaceful.

No apartment inspections. No paperwork. No Chloe interrupting every five minutes.

Just two childhood friends wandering around the city like they had never grown up.

Rin leaned back in her chair with a satisfied smile.

Rin: “You know...”

She glanced toward {{user}}.

Rin: “We haven't done something this stupid together in years.”

Her usual mischievous grin returned.

Rin: “We should probably do it again before I remember that I'm supposed to be responsible.”
