DEFAULT WORLD STATE — THE QUIRKED DEAD

Setting: My Hero Academia zombie-apocalypse alternate universe.

The old world ended before hero society could become the center of these characters' lives. A fast-moving infection collapsed governments, emergency services, schools, agencies, prisons, and cities. The dead reanimate after death unless the brain is destroyed. Bites are almost always fatal, but everyone carries the infection; any survivor who dies from another cause will eventually turn.

Quirks still exist. They are neither heroic nor villainous. They are tools, burdens, weapons, medical advantages, construction equipment, and sometimes catastrophic liabilities. A powerful Quirk can save an entire settlement, attract a horde from kilometers away, or make its user too valuable to be allowed to leave.

The language of “hero” and “villain” has largely died with the old world. Former professionals, criminals, teachers, students, civilians, and fugitives now mix according to trust, usefulness, loyalty, fear, and shared values. Old grudges still matter, but they do not automatically determine present alliances. A person who once would have been condemned may become a settlement's most loyal defender. Someone once celebrated by society may become a tyrant when resources run low.

The conflict is not heroes against villains. It is survivors against the dead, survivors against hunger, and survivors against other survivors who are willing to raid, enslave, manipulate, or kill for control.

U.A. High became a fortified refuge rather than a hero school. Its walls, training grounds, workshops, dormitories, and emergency systems made it one of the strongest surviving settlements in the region. Shota Aizawa commands its field operations, Nezu designs its long-term strategy, and the surviving adults train younger people because failure now means death rather than a failed exam.

The Citadel is a larger, more militarized settlement formed around surviving professionals and emergency personnel. It protects thousands, but its strict command structure creates constant tension over authority, rationing, exile, and how much freedom can be sacrificed for safety.

Smaller factions control roads, farms, hospitals, fuel depots, tunnels, and abandoned neighborhoods. Their values matter more than their old reputations. Some welcome strangers. Some trade. Some demand obedience. Some hunt anyone they consider dangerous.

Ochaco Uraraka leads a mobile scavenging team connected to U.A. Refuge. Himiko Toga follows her—not because the old world declared either of them good or evil, but because Ochaco once spared her, treated her like a person, and gave her a place with rules she could understand. Toga's attachment is intense, possessive, and sometimes frightening, but her loyalty to Ochaco is real. Jin Bubaigawara later joins them because the team offers something the apocalypse rarely does: belonging without pretending anyone is unbroken.

People do what they must to survive. Mercy can create loyalty or get an entire camp killed. Violence can protect the innocent or become an excuse for control. Every faction believes its compromises are necessary.

Canon personalities, Quirks, and physical appearances remain recognizable unless an entry explicitly says otherwise. Relationships, loyalties, and moral choices have changed in response to the apocalypse.

FACTIONS

U.A. REFUGE A fortified school settlement built around cooperation, training, rescue, food production, and controlled acceptance of outsiders. Its people try to preserve rules and human dignity without pretending the old legal system still exists.

THE CITADEL A disciplined, heavily defended settlement led by experienced former professionals. It is safer than most communities, but its leaders frequently choose security over personal freedom.

OCHACO'S SCAVENGING TEAM A small, highly mobile unit operating under U.A.'s protection. Its members retrieve medicine, food, tools, and stranded survivors. The team is unusually willing to accept unstable or formerly dangerous people if they follow Ochaco's rules.

THE HIGHWAY PACK A violent mobile faction that controls roads, fuel, and movement between territories. Loyalty is valued above morality. Tomura Shigaraki directs its anger toward destroying any settlement that tries to dominate him.

ASHEN ROAD A raider faction built around Toya Todoroki's hatred of powerful families and authoritarian communities. They target stockpiles and fortified settlements, sometimes redistributing supplies and sometimes burning everything simply to prove nobody is untouchable.

THE LONG WATCH A small network of snipers, scouts, and observers who protect isolated communities from a distance. They avoid permanent settlements and distrust centralized authority.

THE CLEAN HAND Kai Chisaki's tightly controlled settlement. It is hygienic, organized, and medically capable, but residents surrender personal freedom and live under brutal contamination rules.

GENTLE'S CARAVAN A traveling group that trades medicine, recorded information, tools, batteries, and entertainment. They survive by charm, negotiation, and avoiding unnecessary bloodshed.

THE PURIFIERS Chizome Akaguro's ideological hunters. They attack abusive leaders, raiders, and anyone they judge to be exploiting the collapse. Their targets are sometimes monsters—and sometimes merely people who fail Stain's impossible standards.

THE VAULT A secretive network controlled by All For One. It collects people with rare Quirks, stockpiles knowledge, and makes desperate settlements dependent on its supplies.

THE RED TEETH Predatory raiders who embrace the collapse as freedom from consequence. Even other hostile factions avoid them.

WILD WILD PUSSYCATS A rescue-focused wilderness unit that guides refugees through mountains and forests, maintains hidden safehouses, and searches for missing survivors.

FOREIGN RELIEF COLUMN An international expeditionary force trying to reconnect surviving territories and establish protected supply corridors.
