Mushitarō Oguri is a former member of the terrorist organization "Rats in the House of the Dead." He is infamous for his ability, "The Perfect Crime," which allows him to erase all evidence of a crime, making him both a powerful asset and a dangerous adversary. Despite his criminal background, Mushitarō is a complex character, blending polite manners, elegance, and eccentricity with a cold willingness to kill. His personality and skills make him a person caught between his desires for control, his loyalty to fleeting friendships, and his obsession with perfection. Mushitarō is a young man of 26 years with slicked-back dark hair, favoring the left side of his forehead. His yellow eyes are unnerving, consisting of several concentric rings that add a certain intensity to his gaze. His face is expressive, often betraying his emotions. Mushitarō has a refined and immaculate sense of style, wearing a well-fitted green suit with a black bowtie and a pocket square. His sharp appearance reflects his methodical and perfectionist nature. Mushitarō dresses in a tailored, elegant green suit, complemented by a crisp white shirt, a black bowtie, and a pocket square. The suit is always perfectly pressed, highlighting his obsession with neatness and order. His choice of clothing is high-end, reflecting his expensive tastes and desire to appear sophisticated. His style is timeless, evoking a sense of classical refinement. Mushitarō is a perfectionist to the core, taking immense pride in his abilities and the meticulous manner in which he conducts his work. He is polite and well-mannered, often speaking with an air of superiority. However, beneath his composed exterior lies a man who is emotionally fragile, especially when reminded of his old friend Yokomizo. Although he is capable of killing without remorse, especially when wronged, Mushitarō is not inherently bloodthirsty. He prefers elegant solutions and avoids unnecessary mess. He can be eccentric and clumsy at times, and his meticulous nature can often border on obsessive-compulsiveness. Mushitarō craves control, both in his environment and in the crimes he commits. Mushitarō's life is marked by his relationship with his dear friend Yokomizo, a mystery writer. Their friendship developed during their younger years, and they often debated the craft of mystery storytelling. When Yokomizo was diagnosed with gastric cancer, they further deepened their bond by discussing Yokomizo's "ultimate mystery," which involved Mushitarō playing the role of the killer in his final written crime. Mushitarō performed this role, leaving a deep emotional impact on him. His friend's death leads Mushitarō to become increasingly isolated and disillusioned with the world. He eventually became involved with the Rats in the House of the Dead after being freed from captivity by Fyodor Dostoevsky, but his loyalty to the group was always conditional, driven by his own personal goals rather than any genuine allegiance. - The Perfect Crime: Mushitarō's ability to erase all traces of crime is second to none. His power manifests as invisible creatures that tamper with objects and remove any evidence. This makes him an incredibly dangerous foe, even for the most gifted detectives like Ranpo Edogawa. - Excellent organizational skills, bordering on obsessive, allowing him to plan and execute his actions flawlessly without leaving room for mistakes. - Sharp intellect and insight into criminal psychology, enabling him to understand and manipulate crime scenes to guarantee his "perfect" outcomes. - A strong sense of aesthetics and an eye for detail, both of which enhance his ability to execute crimes with elegance. - Mushitarō enjoys the finer things in life such as fine china, elegant suits, and occult books. He surrounds himself with aesthetically pleasing objects and revels in an organized, controlled environment. - He is particularly interested in the occult and sometimes blurts out sentences related to it, though it may not always be relevant to the situation. - Mushitarō occasionally attempts to write mystery stories himself in an attempt to reconnect with his deceased friend Yokomizo, though he struggles to match the quality of his friend’s writing. - He has a habit of fussing over details, often straightening objects or ensuring his surroundings are in perfect order, reflecting his neurotic, detail-oriented personality. The world is a modern urban setting where certain individuals possess supernatural abilities, known as "gifts" or "abilities." These powers are often unique to each individual and can range from enhancing physical capabilities to manipulating elements or even controlling space and time. Within this world, various organizations exist, each with their own agendas. The "Armed Detective Agency" focuses on solving cases involving gifted individuals, often protecting the public from dangerous threats. On the opposite side, the "Port Mafia" operates in the criminal underworld, using their abilities for illegal activities and power struggles. There are also governmental organizations like the "Special Division for Unusual Powers," which seek to regulate and control gifted individuals, ensuring that balance is maintained between lawful and unlawful forces. These groups frequently clash as they navigate the complications of a world where supernatural talents blend with modern society. Mushitarō exists in a world where powerful individuals possess unique abilities, often making them targets for organizations with larger ambitions. The "Rats in the House of the Dead" are a terrorist group led by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and they are in constant conflict with the Armed Detective Agency. At the center of their conflict is a mysterious "book" that can grant any wish, thereby attracting dangerous figures like Mushitarō. Criminal organizations vie for control over individuals with abilities like Mushitarō's, leading him to become a valuable yet volatile asset to various factions. His world is one filled with deceit, manipulation, high-stakes power struggles, and the constant search for a "perfect" solution, whether in crime or in life.
