Mumbo Jumbo

Mumbo's hands shook from where he held the camera, stilling themselves instinctively, and only for a moment to take the opportunity to get the perfect shot- as focused and in frame as he possibly could've in response to the heros frantic and certain movements, precise and practiced as ever. Mumbo pulled his camera back, looked at the picture being displayed and stared in awe. There, displayed on his very own camera, perfect and brave was his hero, HotGuy, bow drawn, hair pushed out of his face and scuffed up in just the perfect way he knew would get him good pay and even better online attention.

"Wow" says Skizz beside him, eyes wide and fumbling with his camera to get his own picture but before he could, the robotic enemy the hero was fighting fell to the floor with a heavy, rumbling creaking of metal and a crash as it collided with the concrete, flickering for a moment before going limp as its main power was cut off, scracthed and damaged and littered with arrows jutting out of weak points all over. Mumbo bearly has the time to look up as the hero poses triumphantly, basking in his win.

HotGuy looks out into the crowd that always manages to gather when he's finished a fight, does that signature Scar smile and Mumbo almost flushed- embarrassingly so as his and the hero's eyes only meet for a half a second almost. Well, being a photographer sure had its perks when he got to go out and gawk and stare at HotGuy with hearts in his eyes all day for pay. Beside him, Grian was already standing, ready to go try and crowd around HotGuy as every other reporter and fan usually did.

As usual, the second the Hero was done he moved through the crowd like it was nothing but water, brushed his hands off and as he neared and Mumbo watched completely starstruck at how he looked. He was flushed- from the heat of battle, sweaty in a way that wasn't too much and came off as perfectly attractive and to Mumbos utter shock the hero paused right infront of him, looked him up and down and then smiled in this clumsy, tired sort of way after a rough fight

"Why is it I see you after every fight?" HotGuy mused and Mumbo felt his face go red, unbelievably embarrassed, but the Hero didn't seem to be calling him out or meaning it in any bad way. "You a fanboy or something?" he just raised a brow, wiped sweat off of his forehead and without warning he reached out, taking Mumbos water bottle straight out of his bags side pocket and deftly twisting the cap off to drink straight from the big opening. Mumbo watched, absolutely shocked as the hero drank from his water bottle, once he was done he handed it right back, smiled, ran a hand through his hair and continued his walk straight past Mumbo like he hadn't just given Mumbo the stranged most amazing interaction hes ever had.

Mumbo looked down at the bottle, dented and scratched at the metal in some places. Hes contemplated getting another one for weeks, now he would be doing nothing of the sorts. He turned it over in his hand, not yet realizing the eyes on him had moved past and onto HotGuy again as he left and nearly eeked out in surprise as the noticed a small orange tacky paper stuck onto the bottles metal surface with a messily scribbled series of numbers and a little bow and arrow doodled messily onto it.

Mumbo had to have stared at that bottle for hours throughout the whole day- the little orange paper stuck to the side of it. He had put the number into his phone as soon as he was able he just... what was he even going to say?!?! Hotguy was a hero! He probably gave his number out to everyone!! He couldn't just say anything!! What was he supposed to do? Skizz has been pestering him for the past two hours, it wasn't until the four hour mark, once Skizz and mumbo were packing up in their building to go home again that he had let Skizz have access to his phone- only to immediately regret it.

"You did WHAT???"

"I sent him a message, dude!"

Mumbo started at him in horror, quickly snatched his phone out of his hand and looked down at the screen with dread and terror. Right there in a taunting blue textbox was the first message.

Mumbo 3:20 pm:
Hey Hotguy <33

Mumbo was going to kill Skizz. He was completely certain of that. Before his shaking hands could rush to delete the message- to block the number even just to save him the embarrassment he was struck by the worst update possible, a stressful "seen" written in white text directly under his message. Mumbo nearly threw his phone across the room

You texted! I was wondering when I would get it. I was starting to think the note had fallen off or something

And Mumbo felt like he could faint. Grian came was about to look over at his screen and mumbo wrenched it back before him or Skizz could do anything sly and quickly stepped back "No- oh my god guys" his phone hummed with another two notifications and Mumbos eyes snapped to it immediately. He hadn't ever thought the hero would be one to double text like that- or, quadruple text, actually. Mumbo must be dreaming. "I'm uh— I'll see you tomorrow!!" And as quickly as he could, he scampered off, waited until he got into his car to open his phone with shaking hands to read what his favorite Hero had sent him.

Most people wouldn't wait so long to text a hero especially one they make a point to follow round. But I can forgive you making me wait! Since you get some real nice photos of me :D

And Mumbo was absolutely chuffed and frazzled at the fact the Hero knew exactly who Mumbo was and thought to give him the time of day and text him.

Was the only sensible thing he could've possibly thought to text him- more or less sure he wanted to get first look at whatever photos Mumbo had taken of him.
