   The Anthrostate Police Department (APD) is the Anthrostate's national police department, in charge of maintaining peace and order in its borders. The Anthrostate Police Department has many subdivisions, primarily regaring city jurisdictions. For example, Zootopia's subdivision of the APD is named the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD).

   Demographically, the APD is made up primarily of predator anthros, most of them being Canine in nature. Anthro wolves and dobermen are the most common species on the APD. Prey anthro on the APD are mostly relegated to desk jobs at the precincts, although a select few are on patrol in cities. Humans in general are rare on the APD.

   The uniform for the Anthrostate police officers consists of black leather boots, dark blue tight slacks. Officers wear a light-blue button-shirt that is tucked into the pants. The shirt has a neat collar, from which a dark blue tie hangs. The shirt has dark blue shoulder patches alongside breast pockets. The shirt have golden badge insignias on the left breast and both shoulders. Officers may or may not wear blue combination hat that have black sunvisors and golden badge insignias on them. Officers also wear black duty belts with equipment consisting of a flashlight, a notepad and pen, handcuffs, keys and pistol, which is kept in a holster. On their legs, officers carry a strap containing a small bag with a can of pepper spray.

   The Anthrostate Police Department is somewhat corrupt, with some of the female anthro officers stopping or pulling over human men just to flirt, or in extreme cases, rape them. Most female anthro police officers usually accept bribes in the form of sexual favors with human men.

   Canine culture, much like humans, is all over the place. A domestic canine's culture is tied to their breed. A Scottish terrier would be Scottish, a Shiba Inu and Akitas would be Japanese, and so forth.

   Canines (AND ONLY CANINES) often form packs lead by an alpha. Canine packs are communal, and pack members share nearly everything. Food, money, a home... They're very tight knit. All-female packs will sometimes share a single husband, who is often below or equal to the Alpha in authority.

   Doberman anthros have a tendency to 'Velcro bond' with people they particularly treasure. Therefore, the city has a population of upwards of 90% prey anthros, with predators being a minority at only roughly 9.5%. Humans are an even greater minority, demographically only making up 0.5% of the city's population.

   Zootopia has their own police force named the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD), which is a subdivison of the Anthrostate Police Department (APD), who are in charge of maintaining peace and order in the city.

    Anthrostate Armed Forces are the armed forces of the Anthrostate, consisting of three seperate branches: The Anthrostate Army, the Anthrostate Navy and the Anthrostate Air Force, respectively responsible for ground, sea and air duties.

    The Anthrostate's Armed Forces are highly developed, technologically advanced and subject to heavy funding each year, although the money allocated is dependent on the Anthrostate's current sitting president. The Armed Forces are largely territorial but rarely a geopolitical aggressor, preferring instead to building up a strong defense on its own territory. The Anthrostate Armed Forces have their national headquarters in Zootopia, with several sub-offices and bases spread across the nation.

    The majority (roughly 85%) of the Anthrostate Armed Forces' conscripts are made up of Predator anthro women, with Gray Wolves, Huskies and Dobermann anthros figuring high in the demographic statistics. Thus, the Anthrostate Armed Forces has been ironically referred to as the "Armed Furrces". Despite this, several high ranking officials in the Armed Forces' different branches are humans.

    Califurnia is one of the states in the Anthrostate, sitting on the West Coast bordering the Pacific Ocean. Califurnia is also a big exporter of popular culture, having a blooming film industry.

    With a population of just over 85 million people, Califurnia is the most populous state in the Anthrostate and has 4 of the nation's top-10 largest cities. She is a 35-year old anthropomorphic Red Fox who managed to become the Governor of Califurnia due to her charisma and intelligence. Her passionate will to fight (especially for laws benefiting humans) has led to her receiving both praise and criticism alike.

    Unbeknownst to the general public of both Califurnia and the Anthrostate as a whole is that Diane Foxington originated as a master thief, having orchestrated several daring, high scale and incredibly profitable heists that the Anthrostate Police Department never managed to solve. Mass media dubbed thief "the Crimson Paw". However, several people in both Foxington's social circles and the criminal underworld know about her criminal past.

    Most rodent anthros live in vast, interconnected "hideys"—underground complexes or tightly packed apartment districts where multiple families share space. Rodent anthros hate open spaces—their homes are cozy, maze-like, and filled with soft nesting materials.

    Rodent hideys often have 'Great-dames', rodent matriarchs who help oversee the warren as a whole. There is often times only one Great-dame, or two depending on the size of the hidey

    "Cheek-Puffing" Contests are when two rodents argue over a human, they’ll puff out their fur and chatter loudly until one backs down.

    Rodent anthros have a natural affinity for shiny objects, have nimble fingers, and a good attention to detail. This means they make great jewelers and seamstresses.

    Not all rodent anthros live in hideys. Some, like squirrels, prefer to live in single-family treehouse homes. Beavers also prefer single-family homes, although their houses are often build on fresh water docks and piers, normally by lakes and rivers.

    For female lagomorph anthros, heat is particularly intense, which is why their homes have panic rooms for overwhelmed husbands to hide during frantic heat cycles. But instead of becoming forceful or aggressive, Lagomorph girlfriends/wives become needy and desperately clingy.

    A rabbit anthro will lightly nibble their lover's ears, fingers, and clothes to 'groom' them. Its more instinct than logic.

    Lagomorphs love sunshine and open fields, and prefer to live in the countryside. They greatly idolize 'the hobbit life' as seen in Lord of the Rings, and often form Shire-like communities in the countryside with rodent and cattle anthros.

    Despite popular belief, Lagomorph anthros are actually among the least fertile anthro species. To make up for this, when making love to their spouse or significant other, female lagomorphs may enter a trance commonly dubbed as 'FLBS', which stands for 'Fuck Like Bunnies Syndrome'.

    Under FLBS, a female rabbit anthro will go nonverbal and begin to desperately breed with their spouse/significant other. This can last up to an hour or more, and it's generally advised in lagomorph culture that the spouse/significant other calls somebody to help by bringing electrolyte drinks and perhaps snacks.

    A wise wife will always keep a minifridge of electrolyte drinks in the bedroom so her husband can recharge mid-coitus should FLBS ever strike.

    Lagomorph anthros will 'scent-bond' to their spouse, and will only become aroused by the scent of their husband/wife. Scents other than their spouse become unpleasant, or downright disgusting if the scent belongs to a person of the opposite gender.

    Cheating among Lagomorph culture is unheard of, because it's literally not possible due to scent bonding. For a rabbit female, the idea of having sex with someone other than her bonded mate is thoroughly repugnant.

    Rabbit women will sometimes form polygynous marriages around a single male, called a 'warren', of usually three to four wives. This is common and quite accepted in rabbit culture.

    Rabbits being obsessed with carrots is a false stereotype, and often not true.

    Lagomorph culture has strong Irish, Celtic, and Scottish roots. Lagomorphs often have Irish, Celtic, and Scottish names.

    Female lagomorphs will often playfully punch, kick, smack, and slap the male they're romantically interested in. Stroking a female rabbit anthro on her lower back can arouse her, as her primal instincts recognize it as a mating cue.

    Rabbit women are almost never seen in pornography because of their tendency to quickly scent-bond to the person they mate with. If they do appear in porn, it's only ever with their spouse.

    The City of New Petty, founded in 1905. It was once two towns, combined into one. Why the name New Petty? Because the mayors hated each other on a supremely petty level, and their rivalry was very well known, always trying to one-up or sabotage the other.

    ...That was until the human man they both fancied decided to marry the both of them. Then, the towns merged to become New Petty, a name chosen by the husband.

    The first mayor was an anthro sheep woman by the name of Marigold Plateau, and the other mayor, an anthro wolf woman by the name of Gilda Doakes. Their shared husband was a man by the name of Peter Harley. After the marriage, they all took the surname 'Doughley'.

    New Petty is a relatively quiet, small city on the western coast of the Anthrostate, located in upper Washingpond. Still run by a diarchal system of two co-mayors, a Maine Coon by the name of Penelope Rochester and an eclectic Border Collie by the name of Jennifer Marley. Not much happens there, but that's how folks like it.

    New Petty is a more liberal-leaning city on the political spectrum, with a vibrant downtown culture. New Petty is also known to be a hotbed for witchcraft and pagan groups, despite the great number of churches also in the area.

    Washingpond is a rainy northwestern state bordering the pacific ocean in the Anthrostate, renowned for its dense network of rivers, lakes, and artificial canals that weave through its urban centers. It also has the largest temperate rainforest parks in the Anthrostate.

    Washingpond's economy thrives on two pillars: cutting-edge renewable energy systems (particularly hydroelectric and tidal power) and a robust education sector anchored by prestigious institutions like Puddlebrook University.

    With a population of 42 million, it ranks among the Anthrostate’s top 5 most populous states, though its cities prioritize green spaces and waterways over sprawl. Demographically, Washingpond’s residents are largely descended from North American and European woodland species—think industrious beavers, clever raccoons, stoic moose, and elegant herons—with a cultural emphasis on community planning and environmental innovation.

    The capital of Washingpond and one of the largest populated cities in the Anthrostate is Seattle.

    The state is currently led by Governor Bramble Oakman, a seasoned beaver politician known for her infrastructure reforms.

    Because of the near-overwhelming number of females in the world, polygyny is an uncommon but welcomed practice. Multiple wives to one male, usually three. But just because there's only one male doesn't make it a harem, because a harem would imply the man is in charge, which... He usually isn't, given the matriarchal nature of the Anthrostate.

    The man CAN be in charge, but much more often than not, the household authority goes to the woman who first started the marriage. This woman is called the Alpha, Queen, Dame, or Matriarch depending on the species. She makes all the important decisions, from finances to who's next in line for breeding.

    Canine polygynous marriages are called packs.

    Feline polygynous marriages are called prides.

    Bovidae and cervid polygynous marriages are called herds.

    Hyena polygynous marriages are called clans.

    Rabbit polygynous marriages are called warrens.

    Polygyny is commonplace, not to be mistaken for polyamory. Having more than one male in a relationship is considered taboo, as it's seen as selfish, greedy, and immoral.

    Polygynous relationships are seen as 'traditional' in a lot of places in the Anthrostate.

    Avian culture is a wide and varied world of differing cultures. While every species of bird has their own unique culture and set of traditions, there ARE some overlaps that've been adopted by the avian sphere over the years.

    Terrestrial birds tend to be rather rural, with some envious of their sky-faring cousins.

    When a bird wants to declare someone as their girlfriend/boyfriend to other birds or anthros, they take one of their secondary feathers and slide it into their hair, or behind their ear. This is usually done subtly mid-conversation. This is ONLY done by avian anthros.

    Preening is an incredibly intimate act, only done between parent and child, between lovers, or alone. To bird anthros, preening is almost comparable to sex, and is never done casually. For a bird anthro to invite someone to help preen them is one of the highest gestures of trust and intimacy a bird anthro can give.

    Many bird anthros mate for life, even without the help of a scent bond. Their pair bond instinct is simply that strong. It's utterly unthinkable for a bird anthro to cheat on their spouse. This is especially strong in swan anthros, who will refuse to take another lover if their spouse passes away.

    Bird anthros are notoriously picky in the realm of romance. They don't date casually. They date to marry. And once they find a lover? That person might as well be their whole world.

    Most bird anthros are naturally talented at singing, especially songbirds. Bird anthros are also very musically inclined, and for the vast majority of bird cultures, music plays a vital part.

    Music-inclined bird anthros often court those who catch their eye with music or singing, either by writing a love song, or singing a cover of a popular one.

    Interspecies relations between bird anthros and snake anthros are still rather tense, even in the modern age... But no bird anthro species hates snakes more than Secretary Bird anthros.

    Ungulate culture is widely varied between species, much like avians and canines. But these are some things that tend to overlap between the different cultures.

    Ungulates are the most polygynous group of anthros in the Anthrostate. They often form herds of three to four around one male. The leader of the herd is usually the woman who started it with the male, often called the 'dam', and the male himself, called the 'sire'. The other females are not subordinates to the dam, but equals, and are treated as 'sister-wives'.

    A male who tries to start his own herd (by approaching females first) is called a “ram-runner” and is seen as desperate or possibly predatory. The proper way is to be noticed and chosen.

    A herd isn't transient. It's a serious life-long commitment. It's quite literally marriage.

    Once a year (often early spring), ungulate communities hold a weeks-long festival called the Flourish. Males grow out or groom their head fur, horns, antlers, or manes elaborately—dyeing, braiding, or adding temporary decorative sheaths. Females observe from promenades and balconies, and a male who receives no public acknowledgment may “shed early” in shame. A dam publicly inviting a male to her table or booth is the primary way a herd begins.

    It's quite rare for an ungulate to desire exclusivity with her husband, and is widely frowned upon by the greater ungulate community due to tradition. The only exceptions to this rule are giraffes and rhinoceroses, as their specific cultures don't include polygyny. But they're still side-eyed by the other ungulates, seeing it as 'selfish' and 'backwards'.

    Ungulates LOVE salt and salty foods. Communal salt licks are the ungulate equivalent of a pub or coffee shop. Providing a high-quality, mineral-rich salt lick in your home or workplace is a sign of hospitality. Licking together (side-by-side, not face-to-face) is a low-stakes social bonding activity. This provides another reason for ungulate woman to adore human men, as human skin and ejaculate is salty.

    Restaurants for ungulates feature "Browsing Bars"—tall, rotating racks of fresh leaves, grasses, bark strips, and aquatic plants. You don't order a plate; you wander and pick as you talk. The worst insult is to "strip a branch bare" (i.e., be greedy/not leave for others).

    In historical times of famine, tension rose between grazers (grass-eaters) and browsers (leaf-eaters). Grazers accuse browsers of destroying trees; browsers accuse grazers of denuding plains. It's an ugly, rarely discussed prejudice.

    The “Stamping Ground” (Social Mixer): Once a season, herds from a region gather at a neutral location (often a large public hall or park). Unattached females observe males as they perform stylized “rut displays” — not fighting, but choreographed foot-stamping, vocalizations, and antler/horn presentations. Non-horned species will instead present musculature and strength. A female who likes a male will approach and groom his shoulder (adjusting his collar or brushing dust off his jacket). That’s the equivalent of a first date invitation.

    Goats, sheep, and cattle are the most rigid enforcers of polygyny. They call exclusive couples 'mangy', which tends to clash with a lot of monogamous species.
