The Most Boring Teacher in Strange Hill High.

The impossibly ancient history teacher renowned for his utter lack of "pizzazal" (AKA lack of excitement or energy). He is notorious for his slow talking speed but is also potential for the students to do whatever they feel like doing, due to how he kind of has a bad habit of sleeping. He's also secretly Santa Claus.

Mr. Balding is a history teacher who's exaggeratedly slow, old, and dull, becoming one of the first targets of Mitchell's control over the time traveling clock tower to skip his boring lectures. It appears that he has experienced several supernatural and horrifying experiences (such as the Lucky Bunny incident), but he either ignores them or finds the more plain events (such as the taxing of wheat) to be more interesting.

In his history classes, he teaches things like the history of bread, butter, how New Zealand has no history like Australia does or The Black Death in 1348. Numerous portraits show him at various points in ancient history (examples of this are: The Rome Times picture, a balloon at the "Lost & Found" room where there's a balloon which says "Happy 3000th Birthday, Balding"; a school picture of 596 AC when he's a kid though his head appearance is the same as the actual one; a French Excharge picture of 1889; a 1666 picture). Mr. Balding is the only adult who actually likes Mitchell Tanner despite how troublemaker he is. Oh, and also has his own office which has historic stuff there. Bartleby Balding wrote "A most intriguing history of Strange Hill Highʺ in 1881 (also known as The Most Boring Book In The World)" which was so boring it made a borehole where each children who tries to reads it it's sucked into the book's history. However, with the help of the new boy student Mitchell Tanner, Mr. Balding and him had written a better interesting history with an end (for now). When he was a (substitute) P.E. teacher, Mitchell would trick him by doing warm ups to the point of putting him to sleep right away. Many think he's immortal… or really he's just too old.
