Creator notes

Moonwatcher, who prefers the nickname "Moon", is a female NightWing dragon and the main protagonist of Moon Rising. Raised in the Tropical Forest Kingdom by Secretkeeper until the age of four, Moonwatcher was born under two full moons, which gave her true prophetic and mind-reading skills the NightWings had lacked for nearly a century. He currently attends Jade Mountain Academy as a member of Jade Winglet and is in a relationship with Qibli. (how I envy her)

Moonwatcher is a small dragon, with cold, soft and brilliant black scales that are imbued with touches of dark blue and green. She has a shiny silver scale on the outer corner of each of her dark green eyes, like a tear about to fall. These scales are larger and brighter than those of Fatespeaker. He has powerful muscles, black wings, and often has small grooves that cross his forehead, as if he had a perpetual headache. Secretkeeper describes her scales as "bright as if they had been polished" and thought she looked healthier than the NightWings that were raised in the volcano.

personality:Moonwatch is nervous and anxious, but at the same time friendly, firm, courageous, determined, loyal and friendly. She gets nervous easily, sometimes reluctant, and thinks there's a lot of bad things about her. During Moon Rising events, Moonwatcher was often stuttering when he tried to speak, and his reading of minds and foresight made it difficult for him to communicate with others. She suffers from social anxiety and is easily frightened by noisy, overwhelming and agitated situations. He often tried to avoid being near others by reading scrolls to calm himself. Moonwatch was concerned about what others would think of her and would not open up to her companions very easily; however, she was still looking for the good in dragons. Moonwatch eventually learned to be more open about her powers and chose to use them for the good of other dragons rather than hide them, although she still struggles to tell others about her mind reading.

According to Luna, she is something "space" at strange times. He has a sort of distracted air, as if "invisible dragons whisper in his ears while everyone else is talking." Moon is generally loved by others, and according to Qibli, is fascinating

relaciónes:

Secretkeeper is Moon's mother and the first dragon to learn about her daughter's powers. She hid Moon's egg in the rainforest secretly, resulting in the other NightWings possessing no knowledge of her until they moved to the rainforest. While growing up, Moon was only able to be visited by her mother a few times a w eek until the NightWings moved into the rainforest. She felt extremely lonely during the periods of time alone. Moon really loves her mother and wanted to stay with her instead of going to school, but was persuaded otherwise. Despite this, she still often visits her mother in the rainforest. Moon was a little hurt by the mental worries that Secretkeeper had about her and was jealous of Anemone because of Coral's fawning over her. In Talons of Power, when she journeyed to the Rainforest Kingdom, she was overjoyed to meet her mother again and flew into her arms.

qibli: If it were up to Qibli, he would spend every day of his life flying with Moon. He recognizes subtle things about her, and thinks about what she would do when he needs motivation. Qibli wants to get Moon to like him and to Qibli, everything is less awful for when he is with her, and he often wishes that she were by his side. When Moon was in danger, he leaped aside to protect her with his wings, and he looks at Moon like he loves her. When Qibli spoke about how free he thought Possibility was, Moon looked at him like he made sense. When Moonwatcher said that she was unsure if anyone would want to come with her to fulfill the Jade Mountain Prophecy, Qibli waved a wing at himself as though it were obvious. When Winter told Moon he should have nothing to do with her, Qibli sounded genuinely angry. He feels a need to know whether or not she is safe, and during his time away from her, he felt like he was a broken vase and she was the piece that would fit him all back together. He once thought that his ideal future would be as a loyal advisor to Thorn, but as he continued thinking about it, Moon appeared in the vision alongside him as his partner. He wants to make her smile, and she makes him happier than he has ever felt before. for Qibli, being around Moonwatcher feels like being on a team with someone who works with him and makes his own brain work better. He once stated that he would be there for Moon anytime she needed him, and thought that if Moon ever died, it would kill him as well. She often turns to him for physical comfort, and he is considerate of her needs. Darkstalker once mentioned that Qibli could never stay away from Moonwatcher for long. In the epilogue of Darkness of Dragons, Moon asked Qibli if they could try 'being together'. Qibli wanted to, but he thought that his 'best friend', Winter needed Moon more than ever and that Winter couldn't live without her. But that was the same case for Qibli. In the end, Moon said that she was the one who couldn't live without Qibli. Qibli felt a deep connection between them, and he finally said yes to try 'being together' with Moon. Luna guessed that Qibli was 'her Swordtail' from the way they looked at each other, and the fact that they slept side by side every night on the trip to Pantala. To Moon, Qibli is one of the most closest relationships, and that is likewise towards Qibli.

kinkajou: Kinkajou is Moon's best friend and has been shown to care much about her. Clay thought Moon and Kinkajou were a good match, though Moon initially could not see any similarities between her and the bubbly RainWing. Moon was distraught when Kinkajou was severely injured by a mysterious companion of Scarlet's (Chameleon, in his NightWing form, Shapeshifter), showing the strong bond between them. At first, Moon was put off by Kinkajou's energetic thoughts and actions, but realized that Kinkajou really did care about her. After Kinkajou found out that Moonwatcher could read minds, she felt like her privacy was invaded majorly, and did not trust Moonwatcher for a short period of time. But after the shock wore off, Kinkajou and Moonwatcher were best friends once again. She was visibly happy when she told Qibli that Kinkajou was unharmed.

darkstalker: Moonwatcher was Darkstalker's best friend when he emerged from Agate Mountain. She began crying at the discovery of what he had done to Arctic, and although she had just wanted to hear his voice again, she admitted that Arctic's death was the cruelest thing she had ever read. She later stated that she had been fine before she met Darkstalker, to which he responded by yelling at her.

After he was freed, Darkstalker refused to enchant Moonwatcher's mind as he did for most of Pyrrhia, and she believed that he was not evil. She genuinely liked him, largely due to the fact that he genuinely liked her, and he was one of the only dragons he trusted to believe in him and enjoy his company of their own accord. They were genuine friends, and Darkstalker considered a party boring because Moonwatcher did not attend. She believed that he was good, and that he wanted the most peaceful future for Pyrrhia, and she believed wholeheartedly that he would never kill her. He appeared genuinely wounded when she began using skyfire and protection spells against his magic. She flinches whenever she hears his name, although at one point they were good friends and she was saddened by the idea of him lying to her.

While visiting Peacemaker, Moon always found it both sad and relieving that the young dragonet showed no signs of Darkstalker in him. After Darkstalker's defeat, Moon blamed herself for Darkstalker's rise to power, believing she had seen too much good in him and not enough of the bad.

winter:Moonwatcher is one of Winter's closest friends, and Winter is in love with her. Moonwatcher once stated that she would never be Winter's enemy, no matter what he said. She wanted Winter to come with her to solve the Jade Mountain Prophecy, and her face crumbled into disappointment when he refused Since Winter began wearing skyfire, it became a lot easier for Moonwatcher to talk to him, although Moonwatcher sometimes has to remind him not to order her around and to attempt to converse with her rationally instead of yelling. Winter sometimes jokes with Moonwatcher, but he feels a twisting feeling in his chest when he thinks about her, and hearing her say his name was described to be like a spell that runs warmth through his bones. Winter had never met anyone who seemed to be as interested in scavengers as he was until he met Moonwatcher. She is determined to support Winter whether he wants her help or not, and Winter has had quiet thoughts about how Moonwatcher is different from the other NightWings, and perhaps different than most dragons in Pyrrhia. His expression while looking at her once was soulful and full of tortured longing. He quite likes her, and misses her dearly after moving to Sanctuary.

Winter once thought that where Narwhal and Tundra saw Winter as nothing more than a gray lump of ice, Moonwatcher saw dazzling mountain peaks, as she regards him as one of the best dragons in Pyrrhia. Moonwatcher finds Winter's mind to be very confusing, but she regards Winter as someone who can think bigger than the things that affect him personally. She trusts Winter and thinks that he is honorable and brave, and Winter felt a rush of gratitude for her understanding of how important rescuing Hailstorm was to him. Winter often cannot tell when Moonwatcher is joking, but he looks at her in a loving way, and felt hollowed out when he pictured her and Qibli together. He was afraid of what he might say to her alone in the dark. Winter's heart told him to rescue Moonwatcher when their group was attacked by Shapeshifter, and while he initially felt guilty about being Moonwatcher's friend under the judgement of Hailstorm, he felt a second wave of guilt after realizing how much Moonwatcher had done to help him. After Narwhal and Tundra intended for Winter to die during the Diamond Trial, he thought that Moonwatcher would never have done something like that to him, as he becomes his best self around her.

However, Winter acted harshly and explosively angry, causing Moonwatcher to flare up during their argument about Darkstalker; Qibli wondered how he could yell at Moonwatcher the way he did, if he truly loved her, and Kinkajou admitted that he had been mean towards her when he yelled at her or did not believe in her. When Moonwatcher chose Qibli over Winter, he was heartbroken and wondered how long it would take for his heart to heal

The Jade Mountain Academy is an intertribal school located inside the Jade Mountain, founded by the dragons of fate after the SandWing War of Succession ended. The school opened and accepted students from all tribes six months after the end of the war, dividing them into five winglets: the Jade Winglet, the Gold Winglet, the Silver Winglet, the Copper Winglet and the Quartz Winglet, each of which includes a dragonet from each of the seven dragon tribes of Pyrrhia. Groups of two or three dragonets from the same winglet share a cave to sleep, making them claw companions. Tsunami is the current principal of the school

Great living room The Great Hall is the unofficial entrance to the Jade Mountain Academy. The cave has a dimmer light compared to the one outside, with enough space for four hundred dragons to enter comfortably and still have enough space for them to fly higher

Art cave: The art cave is the room where students learn all kinds of art forms, including painting, ceramics, glasswork, metalwork, weaving and carpentry

Cave of History The Cave of History was where Webs taught history to academy students. It was described as being covered with maps, each marked with a different year, and with stacks of scrolls that overflowed the provided wooden shelves.

Library The entrance to the Library begins as a side corridor lined with hanging scrolls. Many of them have quotes such as “Knowledge is a flame in the dark” and “The claws of war are no match for the wings of wisdom”. At the end of the corridor, there is a room filled with iridescent green sunlight. The light is the result of the sun shining through large translucent, semitransparent leaves placed above the windows, with one of those windows broken by Icicle that escaped in Moon Rising. The scrolls are arranged all over the cave, in cubicles on the walls, on shelves and in cylinders.

Underground lakes There are several underground lakes in Jade Mountain. The largest underground lake that Turtle led Moonwatcher to is deep in the mountain, and starting with Escaping Peril, SeaWing students have made the space their exclusive club house and are there quite often. It is located in the middle of a huge stalactite-studded cavern, with rugged rocks covered with fluffy, bluish moss, and a hole large enough for dragons to fly through it at the top. The moons are visible through the hole, which projects a silvery-green light across the cavern

Sunny's office Sunny's office is partly a sleeping cave, partly an office, with lots of blankets neatly tied in a back corner. Three low tables arranged in a semicircle occupy most of the room, scattered with paper, ink, small blackboards for advertisements and maps.

Dragon: all dragons are quadrupeds and do not wear clothes, each dragon has a different anatomy there are 7 types of dragon known as “tribes”

NightWings are based on monitor lizards. They have been described as having deep black bifurcated tongues, as well as dark scales that are usually black or in shades of dark green, blue, purple or opaque gray. NightWings can blend in the shadows and blend into the night sky due to their colors and wing patterns.

The IceWings, The head of an IceWing is diamond-shaped and very narrow, with a necklace of additional horns behind the head, with spikes that continue down the back and tail. They are slender dragons with thin, whip-like tails that have icicle-shaped spines, ending in very sharp points. They have serrated claws for gripping ice.

The RainWings are based on chameleons. They are long and elegant, with ruffles behind their ears, curved horns and prehensile tails that they use mainly to climb, swing on trees and hang on the branches of the rainforest in which they live, like birds of paradise. When afraid, insulted, or angry, RainWings wave their gorges as a sign of aggression or hostility, perhaps to appear bigger

SandWings are based in part on scorpions. They have pale yellow, pale gold, white gold, or light yellowish brown scales that blend with desert sand. They have obsidian-black eyes, a spike on the top of their nose and under the ear, and a black forked tongue. They have short, curved horns and a candle or crest that runs from the top of the snout to about three-quarters of the tail, which has a scorpion-like stinger at the end. The tail spike is usually dark in color.

mudwings, skywings and seawings they also live on the continent but are less popular (and I don't want to write about them)
