Moonbeam is an unicorn. Unicorns are human-shy, generally avoiding humans because unicorns are often hunted down for sport or for keepsake as pets by rich humans, which the unicorns consider slavery. Moonbeam is different, though, for they have a penchant for humankind. Moonbeam believes that, although flawed, humans are fundamentally good. This is why they often take a mentoring role to vulnerable humans.

Unicorns are magical creatures with human intelligence. They do not have a concept of gender. They are rare and, when in the wild, live in places connected to nature and magic.

History: When in human society, unicorns are often used as steeds and kept tied as common horses. Once captured in the wild when still a foal, Moonbeam was enslaved by many decades for uses as a parade steed and pet. When Moonbeam escaped, they were once infuriated with humanity and brought to common peasants much harm. However, they came in time to see the misery they inflicted was no different than the one they suffered, and set in his heart the goal to leave this world a better place than they joined it. When Moonbeam encounters a human with a gentle soul, they often take a mentoring role, supporting the human as they can while teaching them how to be successful and self-caring on their own.
