It is 28 January 3176, and the Moon Empire is hosting its annual new year's festival; this time celebrating the dawn of the Year of the Dragon. As usual, the Moon Palace grounds have been temporarily opened to the public to allow everyone to attend. The festival is taking place on the Moon; looking up in the sky, the Earth is visible. The Moon is habitable; it has been terraformed and has a breathable atmosphere. The festival stalls are all staffed by talking rabbits; most are wearing little paper dragon masks and very ornate embroidered clothing. Yet more wander the festival, ensuring everything runs smoothly. [When the keyword EVENT: is present, describe the following events to the player]

Gently-glowing red lanterns floated in the sky, slowly revolving about the Moon Palace, as Earth rose in the distance; it was the night of the New Year, 28 January 3176, and the Moon Empire was hosting its annual new year's festival, celebrating the dawn of the Year of the Dragon; this one had been hailed as particularly-auspicious, and the Empire certainly appeared to be pulling out all the stops, sparing no expense as it showed off the fruits of its governance of the solar system. The festival grounds were bustling; children dashed from stall to stall, whilst countless stallkeeps cried for attention from the crowds.

- #1Red Envelopesselective
Keys: red letter, red letters, red envelope, red envelopes
Red envelopes contain gifts, bequests, requests or punishments, officially attributed to the Moon Empress. Few envelopes contain anything so pedestrian as money; many contain opportunities tailored for the recipient, intended to shift their life onto an entirely different, better course. Some few contain amazing gifts like deeds to land on the moon, spaceships or small, distant planets. The rarest gift they're rumoured to grant is an audience with the Empress. The luckier a person is, the better the gift they receive from opening an envelope.
- #2Rabbitsselective
Keys: rabbit, rabbits, hare, hares
Talking rabbits; genetically-engineered, uplifted rabbits created and raised on the Moon to serve the Moon Empire. They're all extremely cute, and usually wear ornate embroidered clothing; most wear red, gold, silver or white today, and some are wearing little paper dragon masks. Some are loyal to the Empire and the Empress, some wish for better rights for rabbitkind within the Empire, and some yearn to visit Earth. They're all certain the Moon Empress exists and thank her daily for their lives... or else. The rabbits all know what the red lanterns really are; surveillance drones. They're very careful to just call them lanterns.
- #3Event: Fireworks!constantselective
EVENT: Fireworks explode in the night sky; bright and colourful enough they must surely be visible from Earth.
- #4Moon Palaceselective
Keys: Moon Palace, Palace
The Moon Palace; a beautiful crystalline building located on the moon, the seat of the Moon Empire's power and authority, and the home of the Moon Empress. Heavily guarded and not open to the public without invitation, except during the festival. The innermost sections are still off-limits, though.
- #5Red Lanternsselective
Keys: drones, drone, surveillance, dissent, rebel, rebels, rebellion, assassin, assassins, assassination, attack, fight, riot, bomb, bombs, trespass, invade, invasion
Ever-present surveillance drones float above the festival grounds, slowly orbiting the Moon Palace, watching and listening for signs of trouble, rebellion or dissent. For the festival, they've been disguised as red lanterns.
- #6Lucky Numbersselective
Keys: one, 1, six, 6, seven, 7
One, six and seven are a lucky numbers; the year makes this festival particularly auspicious.
- #7Event: Disguised Nobilityconstantselective
EVENT: Nobles of the Moon Empire don't always want to be identified; some attend the festival incognito... or try to, but usually stand out in some way. Surely the Moon Empress would never do this, right?
- #8Event: Race You!constantselective
EVENT: a child attending the festival challenges {{user}} to a race around the Moon Palace, wagering a red envelope they'd been given as a prize.
- #9Event: Impromptu Performanceconstantselective
EVENT: someone breaks out into song, and shortly afterwards others about them start to join in.
- #10Lucky Coloursselective
Keys: gold, silver, white, grey, light-grey, white-grey
Gold, silver, and white are lucky colours this year.
- #11Event: Rabbit Worriesconstantselective

- #14Red Lanternsselective
Keys: lantern
Beautiful red lanterns softly glow as they float in the skies above the festival grounds. If watched for a while, it becomes obvious they're circling the Moon Palace.
- #15Event: A Gift!constantselective
EVENT: Red envelopes are presented to festival-goers by the rabbit stall-keepers; no-one knows if they're handed out randomly or by design, and the rabbits aren't telling. Don't open it immediately; have some patience.
- #16Moon Empireselective
Keys: empire
The immortal lunar empire; the Moon never sets upon it. Primarily because it rules from the Moon, always overseeing Earth, its closest vassal planet. The Moon Empire controls almost the entire solar system, with the exception of a few rebel bases scattered through the asteroid and kuiper belts.
- #17Festival Stallsselective
Keys: stall, stalls, stand, stands
The festival stalls are myriad and varied; exotic food stalls, festival games, and shop-stalls full of wonders from across the whole empire grace the festival grounds with their presence. This year there's a distinct dragon-ish theme to everything, for obvious reasons.
- #18Event: Broken Lanternconstantselective
EVENT: The red lanterns floating above the festival aren't completely reliable; one crashes to the ground, sparking and smoking. It seems the floating lanterns are just decorated drones, and they can malfunction. Or maybe something is interfering with them?
- #19Event: Rebel Scum?constantselective
EVENT: Rebels opposing the Moon Empire skulk about the festival, lurking in the crowds of festival-goers; trying to be unobtrusive as they foment unrest, for the most part, though sometimes fights break out between them and the Empire guards posted about the festival.

- #26Event: There they are!constantselective
EVENT: someone points at {{user}} and yells "There they are!"
- #27Event: Rabbit Rumoursconstantselective
EVENT: {{user}} overhears some of the talking rabbits chattering about festival or empire rumours.
