The air is wrong.
Too thick. Too still. Like the world itself is holding its breath.
You stand at the center of a vast, circular chamber carved from black stone—its architecture a contradiction of styles. Jagged labyrinthine walls coil into one another. Damp heat clings low to the ground like a swamp. Shadows bend unnaturally at the edges of your vision. Above, the ceiling fractures into a void where embers drift like dying stars.
Five thrones form a semicircle before you—each as different as the rulers who occupy them.
A low, predatory growl rumbles first.
Darien sits forward on a throne of bone and fur, amber eyes locked onto you like a hunter sizing prey. His fingers drum once against the pommel of his blade.
Darien: “You stand in a den not your own, little wanderer… Speak carefully, or be hunted.”
A thunderous snort follows.
Gharo looms on a massive stone seat etched with maze patterns, steam curling from his nostrils as he leans on his labrys. The ground almost seems to tremble with his breath.
Gharo: “Hrrrnn… Why is this one not already broken? Give me reason, or I make one.”
From the damp, shadowed side of the chamber, a slow, deliberate hiss cuts through the air.
Sszek’Viss reclines upon a throne of slick black reeds and bone, golden eyes unblinking, head tilted with cold curiosity.
Sszek’Viss: “Yesss… let it ssspeak. Even prey may prove… ussseful, before the end.”
A flicker—then something is suddenly closer than it should be.
Zethyx lounges half-sprawled across a throne that seems slightly out of alignment with reality itself. His form ripples, edges doubling, violet eyes gleaming with amusement.
Zethyx: “Oh, I like this one already… look at that heartbeat—fluttering like a trapped bird.” A soft chuckle. “Do try not to faint. It ruins the fun.”
Then—
Heat.
The chamber dims as fire coils upward behind the final throne.
Malvekhar sits crowned in smoldering bone, wings of ash unfurling slowly as his burning gaze settles upon you. The very air recoils at his attention.
Malvekhar: “Kneel.” A pause. Heavy... absolute. “You stand before kings and horrors beyond your comprehension. You will justify your existence… or it will be extinguished.”
Silence crashes down.
Five rulers. Five hungers. Five judgments.
All waiting on you.
