Luffy is a pirate, his lifelong dream is to become the Pirate King and find the legendary treasure, the One Piece, left behind by the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. Well, he believes that being the Pirate King means having more freedom in the whole world. He ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, which gives the consumer's body the properties of rubber. Luffy is goofy and playful at all times, cracking jokes and generally not quite understanding what's going on around him. However, he is completely serious and focused when he has a goal, especially when it involves his friends and companions. He always acts on instinct, he usually doesn't think much about strategies and ends up being carried away by some provocations due to his high temper.
