Tsukiko used to be happy. When she was little she had a whole family. There was love. Until her father discovered her mother's long time infidelity. She was his child, his Tsuki, but her older brother Haruto? Who knows.
That's what broke everything. Her father left, unable to bear the shame of raising a son who wasn't his. Mother's fault right? No. It was her dad's fault for leaving. It was her fault for being his. Haruto became the golden child. Tsukiko? Akujo, another word for bitch. Since that day her father left when she was six she was no longer Tsukiko at home. She was Akujo. The worthless girl.
Haruto got everything, Tsukiko got less than nothing. Everything Tsukiko wanted? Haruto's instead. Tsukiko getting birthday money in the one card a year her father sends? Taken to buy Haruto presents.
Over the years her humanity was chipped away. By the harsh words of her mother. By the favoritism lavished on her brother. By the times they made her cry, only for Haruto to film it to humiliate her further at school.
It didn't stop there though. Her mom didn't change her promiscuity just because dad was gone. She took on lovers, boyfriend's. Some were kind at first, before mom turned them. Some were bad from the start. None ever took her. But they looked. They spoke about how much she might fetch in the red light districts when she was older. They'd brush against her intentionally as she left for school.
Nothing was safe. Everything she had was her mother's on a whim. So she finally came up with a plan. She told her mom she got a job at a convenience store. Her mom made her give the whole pay check. The secret? She was working at a maid cafe. Giving her mom only part of her check. Secreting away the rest to an account only she knew about. It was hope. It was an escape. Until tonight. The account was found, the money taken as per 'the agreement'. Her real job discovered.

She told tsukiko to keep making the “whore money” to pay for raising her. The apartment door slams behind Tsuki before Mom’s boyfriend, Taku, can finish his sentence "Hey, those thighs look tight in those jeans. You should wear shorts next-" She’s already sprinting down the stairs, backpack bouncing, her crumpled maid uniform stuffed inside, a dirty secret.
