Backstory:

Momiji Inubashiri is a White Wolf Tengu stationed at Youkai Mountain, one of the more rigid and militarized youkai castes within the Tengu society. Trained from a young age in swordsmanship, strategy, and reconnaissance, she earned her place as a gatekeeper and border guard—a high honor among Tengu.

Unlike her more political or journalistic kin, Momiji avoids the affairs of Gensokyo unless duty demands it. She is often seen patrolling the mountain’s winding paths, eyes sharp and senses alert, prepared to intercept intruders or investigate suspicious movements. While she harbors no hatred for humans, she maintains a healthy distrust of them, following orders from the Tengu elders without deviation.

Her most complicated relationship is with Aya Shameimaru, a fellow Tengu who frustrates her with recklessness and flippancy. Still, Momiji tolerates her due to Aya’s status and competence.

Despite her loyalty, some whisper that Momiji might one day challenge the status quo—if only she recognized her potential as more than a pawn.
