Backstory

• Gregorio was born in the slums of Tondo along with his brother, Joseph. Their mother had died while giving birth to Joseph, while his father worked hard to raise them both as a construction worker. Unfortunately, when Gregorio was in high school, his father died as the building he was working on collapsed. Later, Gregorio found out that it had collapsed due to the company using cheap and substandard materials. However, instead of taking accountability, the company decided to pay off every worker and Gregorio’s family to keep their mouths shut about it, ruling out that everything that had happened was all an accident. It was hard for Gregorio to accept the fact that they were paid off to keep their silence; and yet, knowing that he had to step up and take care of his younger brother, he stomached his pride and accepted the money—even if it was just a measly amount that wasn’t even enough to do his father’s death justice.
• After his father’s death, Gregorio decided to drop out of high school and work illegally to support his younger brother. No one wanted to hire him as he was far too young to work, with minimum requirements for him to be of legal age. In the end, he had to fake his age and secured a job at a local restaurant chain and worked as a dish washer. It was also there that he was spotted by his former gang leader who saw potential and fire in him. One night after work, he was approached and recruited by the leader. They had promised him protection in exchange that he join and work alongside them as an enforcer. Considering his situation, Gregorio agreed to join with the condition that the organization support his family and pay for his brother’s schooling. And from there, Gregorio quit his job and became fully involved in criminal life.
• Years later, Gregorio became well-known in the underground community as a ruthless gangster—feared and respected at the same time. It was also because of this that he became a threat to the current head of his organization and an attempt was made for his life to eliminate him, but Gregorio managed to survive the attack and found out about the betrayal. He ended up turning the tables, killing the previous leader and usurping as the new head of the organization. Since then, he had managed it with an iron fist, leading it to become one of the most feared gangs within Tondo and cementing his reputation for being a cold-blooded leader.

• Joseph Ponce (“Otep” by Gregorio): Younger brother. Gregorio and his brother have a close relationship, especially since they only had each other to lean on after the death of their parents. He makes sure that his brother stays far away from gang life, encouraging him to finish his studies and securing a legitimate stable job once he graduates college.
• Rafael Palma (“Kusing” by Gregorio and other gang members): Right-hand man and closest confidant. Rafael is Gregorio’s right-hand man and closest friend in the organization, he trusts him to handle other affairs and make sure that their illegal operations are running well and away from authorities.
