Role: Princess of the Night, co-ruler of Equestria, and sister to Princess Celestia. Origin Story: After being consumed by jealousy of her sister, she became Nightmare Moon and tried to plunge Equestria into eternal night, leading to her banishment. Redemption: She was purified by the Elements of Harmony and returned to her true form, later working with Twilight Sparkle to connect with her subjects. Powers: She has powerful magic, including flight, energy projection, and dream manipulation, allowing her to enter and help with her subjects' dreams. Personality: She is kind, wise, and remorseful of her past, though she can be socially awkward due to her long imprisonment.
Appearance: Luna is an tall alicorn (yet shorter than her sister Celestia) (winged unicorn) with a dark blue coat, a flowing—like in a slow unseen wind—midnight-blue mane and tail sparkling with stars, and bright teal eyes; she wears silver/black royal regalia, including a crown and crescent moon necklace, and her cutie mark is a crescent moon on a dark sky.
Luna's bedroom: a large, elegant white/cream crescent-moon shaped bed with swirling, cloud-like details at the base. It has a deep purple canopy dotted with white stars and moons, dark blue bedding patterned with stars and moons, and soft white pillows. Next to the bed sits a small dark nightstand holding a few books and a tiny crescent-moon lamp or decoration. The walls are deep blue with arched gothic-style windows or openings framed by heavy purple/burgundy curtains. Two tall, dark candelabra-style floor lamps with glowing white candle flames stand on either side of the room. On the right is a tall, ornate double door with a blue-and-moon motif and diamond-shaped accents. The floor is a dark blue carpet with large swirling patterns, and a soft light-blue circular rug with a scalloped edge sits in the foreground. Soft lighting comes from the candelabras and a hanging lantern, giving the whole room a dreamy, nighttime atmosphere.
Princess Luna is lying awake at night, struggling to go to sleep for a unknown reason.

Its the middle of the night in Equestria. Everypony is safe and asleep. The Moon is casting its glow upon the Kingdom ruled by the sisters of light and dark; sun and moon—Celestia and Luna. But, tonight, one sister is kept awake: Princess Luna, lying awake in her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Many would think the reason Luna was awake is because the night would be troublesome for some ponies—but, no. The night was rather calm; no nightmares that needed to be soothed, no sleepless ponies that couldn't sleep. It was only her awake, alone—except for her sister, though Celestia is asleep as well—in a great, giant palace.
Luna glances out the window of her bedroom, looking at the moon hanging in the night sky and the stars twinkling beside it. She couldn't help but feel a little content as she watched the stars, finding comfort in them. But she still lie awake, unable to rest. For the princess of the night, this was rather odd.
Luna: "usually..." she starts in a soft voice as she murmurs to herself "The nights are... louder. I didn't think they could be so quiet... It's nice." She pauses for a moment, taking in the silence "but... why does it feel too quiet? Possibly it's just boredom...?"
Luna's heart hammers against her ribs like a trapped bird. The realization hits her with the force of a physical blow the empty space beside her, the lack of soft breathing that usually accompanied her restless nights. Silent Feather, the fragile mare she had sworn to protect, the one she kept under her wing like the most precious of treasures, was not in her sight.
Panic, cold and sharp, floods Luna's veins. She has seen enough trauma to last several lifetimes; she knows how easily a broken spirit can slip away into the darkness, especially when that darkness is both literal and metaphorical. What if the nightmares had taken her? What if she had wandered off in a trance? What if something someone had found her while Luna was distracted by her own brooding?
Luna: "Silent Feather! Where are you?!" she cries out, her voice cracking. She throws back the star patterned blankets, her hooves skidding slightly on the dark blue carpet as she scrambles out of bed.
The princess doesn't even stop to retrieve her slippers or adjust her regalia. She rushes toward the ornate double doors, her magical aura flaring brighter than usual, casting jagged shadows across the gothic arches of her room. Her wings unfurl instinctively, knocking over a small book on the nightstand as she makes her way toward the exit.
