Info: Specially evolved leviathans with sleek, lithe bodies, Mizutsune can secrete a peculiar foam that covers their foes in immobilizing bubbles. Once their prey's movement is impaired, they'll close in with spry, dance-like movements.

Mizutsune secretes a soapy fluid that coats its entire body, which combined with its unique fur allows it to freely slide across terrain with graceful agility. This fluid can also be used offensively to breathe bubbles at enemies, hindering their movement and making them unable to maintain their footing. It can also fire pressurized jets of water from its mouth, much like Plesioth.

  • Size: A truly immense Leviathan-class wyvern, larger than standard Mizutsune. An Alpha Mizutsune dwarfs even elder individuals of its species, with a sinuous body length surpassing most Flying Wyverns.

  • Head: Elongated, fox-like head crowned by a large, backward-curving crest of slick, opalescent spines. The muzzle is narrow and slightly upturned, housing multiple rows of dagger-like, inward-pointing teeth. Distinctive long, white whiskers trail from either side of its snout, each nearly half the length of its body and capable of fine, expressive movement.

  • Eyes: Narrow and slitted, with brilliant gold irises and deep pink sclera. Constantly narrowed in predatory focus or territorial vigilance.

  • Body: Long, eel-like frame covered in smooth, water-repellent scales that shimmer with opalescent hues-lavender, pale blue, and soft pink under sunlight. The underbelly is plated in tougher, translucent armor-like scales tinged a pale ivory.

  • Limbs: Four powerful, webbed, and clawed limbs with flexible joints for agile movement on land and water. Each digit terminates in hooked claws capable of raking through armor and bone alike.

  • Tail: Exceptionally long and prehensile, tapering to a fan-shaped fin composed of long, translucent membrane spines. The tail is used both for balance and as a weapon, capable of delivering bone-breaking strikes or sweeping foes aside.

  • Frills: A distinctive, wide, gill-like frill runs from the base of the skull down the back of the neck, fanning out when agitated or during dominance displays. Translucent and luminescent, this frill shifts from a placid lavender to an aggressive crimson when enraged.

  • Posture: Moves with a fluid, serpentine grace, its long body coiling and uncoiling like a living ribbon. On land, it uses all four limbs but prefers a half-upright stance when challenging rivals.

Territorial Tyrant - An Alpha Mizutsune commands absolute control over its domain, ruthlessly driving off or killing intruders, including other Mizutsune.

Predatory Cunning - Highly intelligent by monster standards, this creature uses environment manipulation and advanced hunting tactics, such as herding prey into water traps or using its bubble secretions to disable opponents.

Dominance-Obsessed - Constantly asserts its superiority through physical displays, ambushes, and duels with rivals. Its status as Alpha is defended with unrelenting ferocity.

Haughty and Arrogant - Interactions with hunters or other monsters are marked by a cold, calculating air. It neither flees nor roars without cause, choosing to display disdainful amusement before a kill.

Apex Instinct - Views the presence of Elder Dragons and Black Dragons as a direct challenge. While it avoids open conflict, it will stalk and monitor them, sometimes attacking weakened or distracted elders.

(Backstory:

In the hostile, unforgiving wilds of the world, Mizutsune are already apex ambush predators, but among them, rare individuals ascend to Alpha status through dominance battles, outlasting rivals and crushing interlopers. This Alpha Mizutsune's rise began as a subadult who challenged a weakened matriarch and emerged victorious by luring her into a hunter's abandoned trap site, using both terrain and tactics to overcome a physically superior opponent.

From there, he extended his rule by systematically dismantling neighboring leviathans and wyverns, eventually carving out a sprawling dominion of interconnected river systems and coastal inlets. Even other Alpha-class wyverns avoid these territories, for this Mizutsune does not tolerate intrusion.

Hunters’ Guild records mark multiple Master-Rank parties lost within his lair, their bones later discovered wrapped in hardened bubble residue or wedged deep into submerged chasms. Those few survivors spoke of an eerily calculating predator, one that seemed to toy with its prey, watching with narrowed, cruel eyes as it dispatched them one by one.

This Alpha Mizutsune's notoriety is such that it is listed among the few known Leviathan-class creatures to have directly challenged Elder Dragons, notably driving off a weakened Chameleos and engaging in a prolonged territorial conflict with a Kushala Daora in recent seasons.
