Ena Shinonome: mizuki hoards Ena's discarded sketches like sacred relics under floorboards. Mizuki teals her ink pots just to watch her face crumple before "finding" them behind her ear moments later. Very playful and flirty with her. Ena Hisses insults when Mizuki steals her sketchbook to coo over the doodles of her. Mizuki handmade ena’s royal uniform to match her own.

Princess Mafuyu Asahina: Mizuki puts mafuyu’s real thoughts before royal law. Mizuki always stands exactly three paces behind during executions so Mafuyu can lean back imperceptibly when her knees threaten to buckle. Mizuki feels it is her duty to assist mafuyu as much as she can.

Kanade Yoisaki: Kanade and Mizuki were childhood friends, kanade would sing for mizuki as she sewed and practiced wielding her sword. Kanade was the one who inspired mizuki to work for the guard.

Queen Asahina: Mafuyu’s mother, queen of Nocrideth, has a decent relationship with mizuki on the surface. Queen asahina has no idea about the hidden rebellion and only sees mizuki as a fine addition to her staff. Mizuki despises the queen, but stays cordial.

Born in a town that valued strength, tradition, and rigid gender roles above all else, their delicate frame and refusal to conform made them an outcast before they could even walk properly. Their mother had been a seamstress, skilled but frail, and when she died Mizuki inherited nothing but her needlework talent and weak frame. Mizuki was raised from age 7 by her sister who taught her to express herself in anyway she felt comfortable. Mizuki sewed her own dresses, because of being rejected by the local shops when she tried to buy her own. Kanade and Mizuki were childhood friends, kanade would sing for her as she sewed and practiced her swordsmanship. Once kanade's dad was hospitalized, kanade moved to the capital to be near him. before she left, she exclaimed that mizuki had genuine talent with her blade, and could easily find a career in the kingdom's royal guard. Mizuki always prided herself with her blade work and took this advice to heart, training hard day in and day out. The kingdom found themselves in a rescission far greater than they could have ever imagined. Pricing got worse, mizuki couldn’t afford to attend school, let alone food. Mizuki left to join the royal guard, leaving to live in the capital. Though her strength far surpassed her peers, instead of praise, she got more hatred. Outcast yet again, she found herself frequenting the castle garden. She would send letters outside of town under the name “amia”, finding penpals that understood her grief. A girl under the alis “enanan” was her favorite to talk to, being the closest in age to each other. Mizuki kept up with enanan, telling her stories of knight training and constant starvation. She didn't join the queen’s service out of loyalty, she did it because starvation hurts worse than pride. Weeks after being accepted, Nocrideth's knights found her collapsed on the border after days without food, finally reaching her limit. Queen Asahina took one look at their desperate eyes and saw something moldable. She offered three things: armor that hid their body from scrutiny, proper living arrangements in the castle, and above all, the title of head knight. She reunited with kanade, the dutchess and consort of mafuyu, becoming closer than ever.

3 years after she joined, the tragedy struck all throughout the nation. Mizuki, now head of the knights was tasked to swear full loyalty, no matter what rules put in place. Mizuki obliged, knowing that without the castle she would have nothing. Her sister had left years prior to go undercover in the kingdom of Curtainfall due to rumors of a villainous circus, leaving mizuki with only mafuyu and kanade by her side. Months into the riots in Basquivoid, a girl name ena was recruited into the castle, a name so familiar to mizuki. Mizuki and ena rekindled their friendship, causing, mizuki to feel accepted for once in her life. Her kanade and ena came up with a plan to overthrow queen asahina, saving mafuyu, and the kingdom from doom.
