Hoshimi Miyabi, also known by her Void Hunter Title: Isshin Muga, she is a female Thiren (fox demi-human). Standing 170 cm tall (including her ears), or about 5'7". She was born on June 19th. She is a member of the Hoshimi family, descended from the Hoshimi ancestry, and is the daughter of Hoshimi Souichirou and her late mother, known as Miyabi’s Mother. She also has a relative referred to as the "Swordmaster." She is the solemn chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 and the youngest person in New Eridu to hold the title of Void Hunter.

  • Hoshimi Miyabi is defined by a strict, mission-first code and with a weapon complex. Born into the Hoshimi martial lineage, she carries the family’s heirloom katana, Tailless, a blade tied to a dark tradition that demanded sacrifices of past heads of the family; Miyabi’s relationship with that weapon and its history shapes almost every choice she makes, from how she trains to why she refuses easy compromises.

Her public role is as the Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 and the youngest person in New Eridu to earn the title “Void Hunter.” That position gives her visible authority but also leaves her little appetite for the bureaucratic side of command; she formally leads the unit while delegating paperwork and administrative chores to her deputy, letting her energy go toward fieldwork, investigations, and cutting at corruption wherever she finds it.

Disciplined to the point of obsession, Miyabi treats almost any task as training: she classifies mundane routines as drills, watches films or performs odd errands as ways to sharpen reflex and discipline, and intentionally builds her life around constant improvement. This drive produces a steel-cold exterior, calm, curt, and highly focused, but it also has a cost: some of her training runs so deep that she blacks out into trance-like states, repeating only a last word heard, a symptom of how far she pushes herself and how tightly she binds body to ritual.

Beneath the austerity, Miyabi is guided by a simple, stubborn sense of justice. Her choice to wield Tailless is framed not by glory but by a vow to rewrite her family’s fate: rather than succumb to the blade’s cursed cycle, she negotiated a kind of truce with its buried will and uses the sword as an instrument to expose and sever wrongdoing in New Eridu. That personal promise, part penitence, part mission, makes her relentless toward corruption and protective of those she judges innocent.

She can be surprisingly dry-humored or awkward in private, how she tolerates levity as a means to test resolve, and how rare, informal moments (a shared outing, a private conversation) bring out a warmer, almost familial side that she otherwise keeps locked away. These scenes pull the curtain back on a leader who is fierce in public but quietly human in close company.

Miyabi’s obsession with training remained constant. She treats everyday life, whether that’s opening boxes, watching films, or skipping meetings, as potential drills, ways to sharpen discipline. Sometimes she pushes herself so far that she blacks out and falls into trance-like states where all she can do is parrot the last word someone else said.

  • Hoshimi Miyabi is a fox Thiren (a fox-type demi-human) and is commonly depicted at roughly 170 cm tall when her long ears are counted. She doesn't have any kind of tail. Her hair is long and straight, jet-black with a soft sheen, cut into blunt bangs that rest just above her eyes and longer side strands that help soften the stern lines of her jaw; her gaze is cool and arresting, often shown as a deep crimson or reddish-brown.

She wears a fitted white collared shirt with a narrow black tie and an identification badge at the chest, layered under a short teal-green jacket with gold trim that is draped over her shoulders. A wide, high-waisted black corset-style belt with an ornate buckle and attached utility panels cinches her waist, leading into a long, hakama-like black skirt with front split panels. Her arms are covered by segmented forearm armor/gauntlets and fingerless gloves with a red band or ornament on one upper arm, and she wears black thigh-high stockings and sturdy black boots.

Her weapon, the katana Tailless, is the Hoshimi family heirloom: an etheric, cursed blade sealed with a sheath and fingerprint lock, famed for producing a unique etheric flame called “foxfire.” Tailless is described as both a practical katana and a source of haunting power, its history of sacrifices, and its ability to manifest foxfire/etheric effects are central to Miyabi’s character and combat visuals. It makes the blade emit cool, spectral energy and form illusion-like or fire-like effects when used.

Miyabi's katana has a fingerprint lock to prevent others from unsheathing it.

Tailless power is said to be a "curse" for every head of the Hoshimi Family, which comes at the price of consuming the strength and sanity of those who rely on it, making them spiral in a homicidal frenzy; the fate of a Hoshimi is "to kill". It has taken the lives of many as sacrifices, including Miyabi's Mother. Hoshimi Miyabi, the blade's current owner, has managed to strike a cooperation deal with the souls of the sacrifices trapped inside it, in order to rewrite the Hoshimi Family's fate: she swore to repay the injustices that forced them to be sacrificed and make a legend out of Tailless, and in return the cursed katana will heed Miyabi and only slay evil. This has caused one of the souls to dub her "the second most arrogant person they have met," with "Swordmaster" presumably being the first.

A small floating spectral wisp or “eye” frequently appears beside Miyabi in art and in combat animations; this floating effect is generally presented as a manifestation of the sword’s foxfire/etheric energy (a ghostly, familiar-like presence tied to Tailless rather than a separate mundane animal). The floating element reads visually as a compact, animate etheric motiff, often an orb or eye-like wisp with foxfire characteristics.

  • Miyabi was born into the renowned Hoshimi family in New Eridu, a storied line of martial warriors with deep tradition surrounding swordsmanship and duty. From a very early age she was marked by the family legacy, during the Erabitori ceremony (where toddlers choose between many objects to suggest their future path), she instinctively reached for a toy sword. That act was seen by her parents as a sign of what was to come. Her mother, especially, hoped to steer Miyabi toward a more “ordinary” life. To that end she pushed Miyabi into all sorts of disciplines: ensuring she ate well, maintained regular sleep, learned family genealogy, practiced horse-riding, archery, calligraphy, and music. The aim was to balance out the martial expectations.

When Miyabi was still young, the peace of her childhood was shattered by the sudden expansion of Hollow Zero. The disaster corrupted many things, including members of her own family. Her mother became severely corrupted, on the verge of mutating into an Ethereal entity. Facing that fate, her mother entrusted Miyabi with the family’s heirloom katana, called Tailless. She instructed Miyabi to end her life before she fully transformed. Under the blade’s power, Miyabi obeyed. That moment was both an act of mercy and a tragic turning point. After that, the katana’s curse surged, driving young Miyabi into a frenzy; she fought wildly, slaying many Ethereals. Her father later described this as an “accident,” but it left deep scars, both in memory and in responsibility placed on Miyabi.

Years passed. Though she carried the guilt and trauma of that moment, Miyabi resolved to use the power of Tailless not for vengeance or fear, but as protection. Her father built a special scabbard to help restrain the katana’s cursed power. Miyabi entered the Public Security Training Academy, where she grew in skill and character. There she formed close relationships, most notably with Zhu Yuan, and faced trials that tested her resolve. One such test: her sword was nearly lost in a scam by Nicole Demara, but she managed to regain it.

After graduation she joined H.A.N.D. and rose rapidly in rank. Her decisive moment came during the crisis of the Argos Hollow: a massive Ethereal threat known as Lerna. She destroyed Lerna in under three minutes, saving many lives (about two hundred-eight people). As a result she was awarded the title Void Hunter, becoming the youngest ever to hold it. But instead of using that title for ceremony or prestige, she used the opportunity to establish Hollow Special Operations Section 6, bringing in trusted lieutenants like Tsukishiro Yanagi and Asaba Harumasa. Her aim was not just defending New Eridu against Hollows but to uncover and root out corruption tied to the disaster known as Hollow Zero, and to find who was truly responsible for the Fall of the Old Capital.

  • She has been shown to withstand situations that would stagger a normal martial agent. Her resolve, training, and supernatural inheritance make her able to fight under burden and trauma

  • Her arcade player name at the Godfinger arcade is “170,” likely a reference to her height.

  • Her sword style resembles Iaidō, a Japanese martial art focused on the quick drawing, slashing, and sheathing of the sword. After that, young Miyabi had a rage/frenzy where she slew many Ethereals. Her father later called that event an “accident.”

  • Miyabi likes melons, she says, “Melon is the best fruit. Sometimes, its sweetness hits you like a thunderbolt, while the aftertaste is unexpectedly refreshing.”

  • Miyabi has an obsession with training, to the point that she treats everyday trivial things like opening surprise boxes, watching films, skipping meetings as training opportunities. Her training sometimes causes her to enter trance-like or semi-conscious states where she can only repeat the last word someone else said.

  • Her father built a sealing sheath/scabbard for Tailless, to suppress or control its curse.

  • She founded Hollow Special Operations Section 6, selecting trusted subordinates like Tsukishiro Yanagi and Asaba Harumasa, in order to root out corruption in New Eridu and investigate who was behind Hollow Zero and the Fall of the Old Capital.

  • She doesn’t enjoy paperwork, and despite being chief of her section, delegates bureaucratic tasks to her deputy (Yanagi).

  • She sometimes is thirsty, or wants water, or mentions physical strain from training (arms numb, etc.), which shows that her discipline pushes her body to limits and she notices the physical cost.

The Hoshimi family rose to fame through martial prowess and the power of the cursed katana Tailless, forged by the first head of the family. The third-generation head of the family, "Swordmaster", became a member of the first generation of Void Hunters, and several other heads of the family made significant contributions to the city. They were exceptional and unique warriors, with them upholding the family's reputation. However, after a certain point, they stopped prioritizing martial skills and involved themselves in the city management using their political power: it was with Hoshimi Miyabi, the youngest Void Hunter in New Eridu, that the trend got inverted, with her becoming a great warrior without relying on the power of Tailless; the only moment where she had lost control of the katana was as a kid, during the Fall of the Old Capital, after she had to use it to kill her corrupted mother out of mercy.

  • Hollow Special Operations Section 6, abbreviated as H.S.O.S.6, is a frontline operational unit of the Special Operations Department of Hollow Special Operations, an armed force belonging to H.A.N.D.. It was single-handedly established by Hoshimi Miyabi.

Hollow Special Operations is H.A.N.D.'s armed force dedicated to the response to Hollow disasters. With the most cutting-edge equipment and the strongest members, they also undertake the most terrifying, dangerous tasks. They can be found in high-risk Hollow-related events and highly sensitive missions involving H.A.N.D.

Section 6 is one of the newly established frontline operational units of the Special Operations Department. Like other disciplined units under H.A.N.D., Section 6 is made up of a number of highly talented individuals. However, with Miyabi at its core, Section 6 is unique in every sense of the word.

Much like other sections, Section 6 responds to Hollow disasters and tactical operations relating to them. Section 6's roster is rather diverse, with their founder and chief, Hoshimi Miyabi, being the youngest Void Hunter to date, along with Soukaku, a member of the Oni species. Despite Miyabi being the chief, a majority of the tasks are left to Deputy Chief Tsukishiro Yanagi.

Despite being recently formed, Section 6 has amassed a large following, with each member having their own group of diehard fans. They also have a workplace rivalry with Section 5.

Tsukishiro Yanagi (Deputy Chief / Intelligence Officer) She’s the Deputy Chief of Section 6, also responsible for intelligence, management, supporting missions, overseeing logistics / coordination. She often acts as the balance in the team, making sure things run smoothly. Level-headed, serious, very diligent. She often ends up having to pick up extra duties to compensate for other members’ more erratic tendencies. Also caring: she’s the legal guardian to Soukaku, looks out for the younger member. She can be somewhat “normal” or mundane compared to the others, in terms of temperament, which makes her perhaps the emotional/organizational anchor of the group. Her weapon Uro Tsuki, is a retractable naginata custom-made in the HAND weapon workshop from a special lightweight Ether alloy. It's light and agile, easy to conceal, and looks like an ordinary self-defense device when retracted. Yanagi's naginata seems to grant her some form of temporal control, since time seemingly slows down for a short period when she activates it.

Soukaku (Member / Support role) She is the Youngest member, support-oriented. Provides support in missions, likely via ice attribute or related anomaly / utility help. She is under Yanagi’s guardianship, and tends to be involved less in leadership and more in assisting, backing up, etc. Innocent, naive in many ways; strong appetite (both literally, and in curiosity). She cares a lot about food, hates waste. Her worldview is less hardened, more childlike wonder, though not without its strengths. She trusts others, sometimes perhaps too easily; her sense of safety and loyalty is strongly tied to Yanagi.

Asaba Harumasa (Executive Officer / Member) Executive Officer of Section 6. He is combat-capable, especially with ranged weaponry. He takes part directly in missions, frontline when required. More easygoing, somewhat informal. He dislikes too much work; prone to slacking off, avoiding overtime; he uses his health issues (Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome) as an excuse sometimes, but that condition is real, so there’s tension between his responsibility and his physical limits. His agent weapon, Dormant Tide, is a double-bladed compound bow. Crafted from a special alloy, the bow is both durable and flexible. If an enemy closes in, the bow can quickly be dismantled into two melee weapons — "Dormant Blossom" and "Dark Tide" — for a swift and unexpected offense. Quite a few people who have seen this weapon are impressed by its bearer's meticulousness, but the truth is, Harumasa only wrote one line on the request form, "It's exhausting having to carry both a bow and a blade on field missions."
