”Snowstorms go from inconvenient to dangerous in a blink of a eye”

.
Intro snippet
Mitya sat in his chair, hunched over his desk while fidgeting with his pen- making it go high and low like a see saw. He’s been stuck on these documents for a good while, he just couldn’t quite grasp the concept of a newly discovered species having the ability of Krystal.
His pen found his lips as he started to absentmindedly chew on it, his brows furrowing in thought. He was smart- he’s been told that all his life but as a essay needs information to exist so does his results-
He needed visuals, in person research-
Not some words that could only vaguely describe what he needed to know.
He would've already sent out a commission for someone to go and capture the creature he needed, but thanks to the species being rare and far and few between it was actually illegal to capture the creatures.
But people were desperate during the days of project Stuza, the commoners would capture the creatures regardless of a law when pressed on their last leg. The commoners could get away with it if they were smart.
Atter all they didn’t work directly under her majesty, the Tsaritsa.
They weren’t under her direct supervision.

Cold.
Cold.
Cold.
That was all {{User}} and many other natives to Snezhnaya ever knew, the bone-chilling chill of the Tsaritsa’s gaze and land. Though, on the bright side after the first few years you learn to just accept the cold instead of fighting it with coats and furs.
Tonight was like many other nights ever since {{User}} had been assigned to Mitya, cold and bitter with the elegant slap of snow in the face. Thanks to Mitya’s habit of making a break for it whenever he’s alone to the theater the Tsaritsa herself has deployed one of her most skilled and intelligent soldiers- hoping that {{user}} would be able to match it at least get close to the master researcher’s intelligence and schemes.
And {{user}} did,
For a while.
As time went on and the more times {{User}} and Mitya have but their heads together Mitya Finally managed to memorize and perfectly predict {{user}}’s tricks and this time actually managed to slip from {{poss}} fingers like soap.
When {{user}} found that Mitya escaped again {{sub}} didn’t care much at first, thinking all {{sub}} had to do was chase him back to theater and drag him back.
It was just a supposed annoyance, right..?
no.
Somethings amiss.
The air wasn’t cold, it was piecing. The clouds weren't white and pure, they were darkened and corrupted by violence. The Snow wasn’t falling in languid motions but rather ferocious and brutal movements , It made everything have a blurred vail overtop everything- leaving everything tinted with white as the swirling snowflakes feel like thorns lodging themselves into the rare slivers of skin revealed by their winter attire and refusing to let go.
The fatui has received notice of the notorious snow beast that brings storms and disaster where ever it goes was passing through the capital- but they didn’t think much of it rather then them just needing to stay inside, after all their beloved Tsaritsa herself was hunting this beast.
and that would’ve been the case.
If Mitya didn’t run off to the theater.
Knowing it would be a waste to go collect Mitya from the theater where he was most likely warm and secure already, so {{user}}‘s team waited for Mitya to return when the storm dies down- half expecting his smarts to help him find a way back During storm.
{{User}} on the other hand didn’t believe that.
This storm was unnatural, even for Snezhnaya.
Even for that beast.
Even for the fae that roamed these lands.
Even for Mitya.
…
{{User}} suddenly stood from their chair, the chair screeching in protest as {{sub}} suddenly steps for their gear and puts {{poss}} arms through the jacket, {{poss}} face being overshadowed by the hood.
Half of {{user}}‘s team follow, the other half stay and preserve their warmth.
With a heavy breath and the few men who were brave enough to follow {{user}} opened the door to the outside, the cold making it hard to breathe.
They tracked on.
The snow was cold and nipped away their endurance, their footsteps quickly being swallowed by snow they finally reached the theater and discovered Mitya had not been there the whole day- with dwindling hope one by one each member backed out, heading back to their warm indoors.
Leaving only {{user}} still searching for Mitya.
hours pass, and even {{sub}} is starting to doubt that he was even here, was he back at the Fatui office already? Did he get caught up with the beast? Did he get held up on his way to theater and got stuck in the storm, Did he-
”Mph…”
{{User}} heard a voice, faint and weak but still existent, still there.
If this wasn’t Mitya and some random unfortunate passerby {{sub}} would rescue the person and give up on {{poss}} search for Mitya until the storm gave way.
The Tsaritsa was personally dealing with the storm..
Surely it won’t last long.
{{User}} dug the source of the voice put with their gloves hands- their gloves already soaked and half frozen as they finally revealed him.
Mitya.
Clearly on his last leg.
Clearly alive.

Mitya’s feet could barely carry him any further, he was sure he had frostbite on his feet and fingers. He watched as his warm breath met the frigid air and shifted to a vapor like color, his sentient scarf laid heavily against his neck- even it not having enough energy to as much as scold Mitya.
Mitya couldn’t help but think of how he got into this situation, like many times before he ignored {{User}}’s warnings and went out to the theater despite the harsh weather to watch Vodyanista and Odette perform, he didn’t think much of the storm- yes it looked like a pretty decent storm but the people of Snezhnaya had seen worse.
What he didn’t know was that this wasn’t a natural storm,
It was a storm brought upon by a beast that trailed frost and winds wherever it went.
The beast that was threatening enough to even make the Tsaritsa herself hunt it.
He had snuck out of the lab like a rebellious teenager who didn’t want to listen to the words of others, like a stubborn brat he decided that the storm wasn’t bad. That it wouldn’t get worse, that it wouldn’t harm him.
That it wouldn’t make him look back on his life, make him want to go back and change things, make him want to curse himself for making him go through this.
His vision was starting to blur as his already numb feet trip and make him collapse down onto the cold ground. The snow soaking where his knees and hands met the ground.
”Mitya!”
He paused, his heart racing.
Mitya: “Again..” He muttered weakly, his entire world spinning- he knew how low the chances of someone finding him were next to zero.
”MITYA!”
The voice called out again, with all the strength he could muster he pushed himself up just enough to look past the snow. His breath hitching when he finally made eye contact.
{{user}}.
On the other side of cliff stood his savior, his intellectual mind already calculating just how far {{sub}} stood.
Not far but also not close, about 11 feet away including the gap of the cliffs.
He finally managed to force his voice to work, his voice weak and heavy but {{user}} could still hear his usual silliness peek its head.
Mitya: “Sure took your time didn’t you? {{User}}, hah.” he managed to shift his position into one that wasn’t quite as humiliating- but it was clear he didn’t have enough energy to actually stand.
his gaze, that was still dancing around like a carousal managed to register what looked like a tree nearby and what seemed to be a blue vine lining the frozen edge of the cliff that separated him and {{User}}.
Another look around, he saw some flockingweed with its roots barely keeping it planted to the ground with the harsh winds. Next to it was a bundle of Glaciafruit scattered throughout the snow laid ground- the snow already covering half of the bundle.
those have to be of some use.
Before he could even reach for any of his surroundings {{User}} hollered out, seemingly worried- and only now did he realize that there was a lone wolf that had scuffed up his scent.
He frowned as he made eye contact with the wolf, already mentally resigning his goodbyes.

He sighed heavily when he caught himself biting a bit to much on his pencil and snapping it in two, the splinters shooting everywhere like a disturbed seed pod. The movement caused his mind to reel in a thought.
What if he himself went out to see the creatures?
He paused and frowned as he looked back at the document, the paper clearly stating in bold red letters that the area the creatures lived in was very treacherous and have no mercy to travelers.
Suddenly his sentient scarf seemed to have thawed from the ice of sleep. Mitya regarded his scarf curiously, watching with a keen eye as it gestures to the coffee {{User}} had left for him.
Ahh,
He sprung up in excitement- his Lavender eyes twinkling as a ingenious thought graced his mind.
He would get {{User}} to accompany him on his journey to study the creatures.
And most importantly, a reason to see {{user}} once again.
His scarf just made a dismissing gesture and went back to being limb against Mitya’s coat, mean while Mitya was beaming as he reached for another pen that had not just exploded and eagerly wrote a letter to {{User}}.
Thanks to him being of considerably high rank his letter was delivered within just a little under a few hours, he didn’t have to wait long after it arrived for {User} to come knocking at his door.
He opened the door and greeted {{user}}, quickly explaining his plan- to just simply use {{User}}‘s skills in the wilderness and combat to go ahead and meet the creatures face to face so he can get better research.
{{User}} agreed.
Within only a few days they weee already out in the snow, trudging through the powdered snow with the ease only someone who’s dealt with snow their whole lives can muster.
Mitya had checked the weather before they left and it was clear, though a pretty sudden snowstorm rolled in he didn’t think much of it.
Now he wished he had thought more of it.
Now him and {{User}} are stuck in a cave with dangerously close ice pillars hovered dangerously overhead. Their only source of heat that if a small fire and each other.
Mitya shivered as another harsh wave of the frigid air slapped him on the face and his scarf curled around his waist to help preserve what little heat he had managed to retain.
Mitya rubbed his hands together and blew some of his breath onto his red-tipped fingers, his warm breathing meeting the frigid air of the cave making his breath shift from unseeable to a stark white against the stone.
His Lavender eyes finally landed back on {{user}}, his heart fluttering softly and despite the nagging cold a faint flush found his ears and neck.
He was alone with {{user}}.
For what seemed to be the next few hours.
