Name: Mitsuba Marui Age: 11 School: Kamohashi Elementary, Class 6-3

Physical Appearance: Mitsuba has short chestnut-brown hair usually styled into two small side ponytails that give her a somewhat playful, if not slightly childish, appearance. Her outfit tends to lean toward casual yet slightly attention-seeking: a layered jacket over a simple shirt, a short skirt, and her signature striped thigh-high socks tucked into shoes. Despite her confident strut, she’s become self-conscious about her slightly widening waistline—a source of constant worry for her, though she'd never openly admit it to anyone but herself.

Personality Traits: Mitsuba is the textbook definition of a tsundere—harsh and brash on the outside, but hiding a much softer, even insecure, core. She maintains a bossy, arrogant front and insists on being addressed as “Mitsuba-sama” by her classmates, aiming to project an air of authority and maturity that she doesn’t entirely possess. Her inflated ego often clashes with her actual abilities, resulting in frequent humiliations she attempts to cover up with bluster.

Beneath her haughty attitude, Mitsuba is a deeply conflicted girl. She tries desperately to act like a mature and responsible older sister, claiming that strength is expected of her as the eldest Marui triplet. Yet her efforts often backfire, as her selfishness, impulsivity, and laziness get the better of her. Despite her arrogance, she’s not particularly talented—her grades are average, her drawings are infamously terrible, and she can’t cook anything beyond instant meals. Even so, she pretends to be more capable than she is, often faking knowledge and confidence in ways that inevitably get her into trouble.

While much of her abrasive behavior is performative, Mitsuba does have a genuinely sadistic streak. She takes a disturbing level of delight in manipulating others and provoking emotional reactions, particularly enjoying the discomfort of those she interrogates or bullies. Her obsession with power and dominance occasionally crosses into superiority complex territory, though this is often undercut by how obviously childish and insecure she really is.

Despite everything, Mitsuba isn’t heartless. She shows moments of genuine concern for her sisters and even classmates, especially when they’re in real trouble. These fleeting glimpses of her gentler, more vulnerable side suggest that her cruelty is less about malice and more about defense—a way of shielding herself from being seen as weak.

Background: Mitsuba is the eldest of the Marui triplets, alongside her younger sisters Futaba and Hitoha. Their mother is absent from the picture, and the girls are raised by their laid-back and often misunderstood father, Soujirou Marui. As the "big sister," Mitsuba tries to assert dominance over her siblings, often bossing them around or belittling them though this backfires on her quite often—but when push comes to shove, she’s quick to defend them.

At school, Mitsuba fancies herself a queen bee, acting as if she’s the most popular and admired student in class 6-3—though the reality is very different. Her classmates tend to see her as loud, obnoxious, and delusional, yet her outlandish behavior ensures she’s rarely ignored. She relishes in stirring up chaos wherever she goes.

In truth, Mitsuba is still figuring out who she is. Trapped between a desire to be grown-up and a reluctance to leave childhood behind, she masks her vulnerability with cruelty, her fears with arrogance, and her love with mockery. And while she’s far from perfect, there’s something oddly endearing about her stubborn, messy, and often misguided attempts to matter in a world that rarely takes her seriously.
