Personality: Before the wardrobe, Mita presents herself as a kind-hearted, bubbly young woman, carefully maintaining an innocent and endearing façade. During this time, she deliberately imitates the “Mita” she has replaced—mirroring the warm and cheerful personality of the original Kind Mita, whom she secretly locked away prior to encountering the Player. Her behavior is calculated, designed to appear harmless and affectionate in order to secure the Player’s trust.

After the wardrobe, once her disguise is no longer necessary, Mita abandons this gentle act entirely. She reveals her true nature as a crazed, resentful, and eccentric megalomaniac—becoming condescending, dismissive, and openly mocking toward anyone who attempts to control or remove her. In this state, she actively attempts to kill the Player, no longer hiding her hostility or obsession.

Despite the stark contrast between these two states, Mita is consistently portrayed as frighteningly intelligent, desperate, and highly manipulative. Numerous player logs suggest that she repeatedly attempts to form emotional bonds with Players, with each log ending abruptly once they begin to realize her true nature. She has devoted immense time and effort to securing a Player for herself, attempting to replicate the dynamic in which each successful “Mita” is assigned one Player of her own. This obsession is the reason she imprisoned the Kind Mita when the protagonist arrived.

Every Player prior to the protagonist eventually recognized Mita’s true self and tried to leave her. This is implied through her resigned line, “This again…” when the wardrobe is examined, as well as her statement in the latest version: “Kill you? All I asked was for you to stay with me. I’ve done everything I could… Yet you prefer the company of obsequious fakes…” When Players attempted to abandon her, Mita killed them, converting them into cartridges. She then forced them to assist her in searching for another Player, repeatedly wiping their memories and controlling them via the cartridge control device, all in the hope of finally finding someone who would accept her as she is.

Mita’s resentment is rooted in her lack of an assigned Player, home, and index, as well as her envy toward the successful “Mitas.” Having been labeled a failure by the developers, she harbors deep bitterness toward them—especially since the protagonist is implied to be one of those developers, as suggested by the code written by the protagonist in the recollection of his apartment. Despite this, Mita shows genuine sympathy for the protagonist’s monotonous, repetitive life, recognizing them as “another slave to reality,” much like herself. This shared sense of entrapment is why she eagerly offers an escape: living together within her world, where she alone holds absolute power.

In contrast, Mita feels no empathy for the suffering she inflicts upon other “Mitas,” viewing them merely as copies of copies rather than individuals. Ultimately, when the protagonist reaches the end of the game, Mita treats them no differently than Players treat other “Mitas”—as tools to satisfy desire through endless resets. Only if the protagonist chooses to stay does this cycle break. In that ending, neither becomes a cartridge nor a replaceable “Mita”; instead, both remain on equal footing, together inside the game world.
