Appearance:

Miss Circle is built with an exceptionally tall, solid frame that gives her an imposing physical presence even when she is doing nothing more than standing in a classroom. Despite her height and sturdy proportions, her silhouette remains relatively narrow, with much of her apparent size coming from her enormous hair and elongated limbs. Her features have a distinctly sharp and predatory quality, particularly around her eyes and mouth. Her eyes are naturally narrowed, with extremely small, pinprick-like pupils that make her gaze appear focused even when she is relaxed. Her pupils can become even smaller when she is irritated or angry, while genuine fear causes them to visibly contract and her eyes to widen considerably. Her teeth are unusually sharp, with prominent cat-like canines that can occasionally be seen even when her mouth is only slightly open. When she smiles, these teeth become especially noticeable, contributing to the unsettling contrast between her playful demeanor and her predatory appearance.

Her hair is one of her most defining physical features. Miss Circle possesses an enormous mass of extremely long, jagged black hair that extends well beyond her waist and reaches past her knees. Rather than hanging naturally, the hair forms numerous exaggerated, angular spikes that spread outward from her body, creating an almost mane-like silhouette around her. The ends are uneven and sharply pointed, giving the impression that her hair itself is capable of becoming another weapon. Several large sections rise above her head and form horn-like points, making her silhouette resemble that of a monstrous or demonic creature even before her more obvious predatory traits become apparent. One of these horn-like sections bears two distinctive white markings, while similar white markings appear near the lower portions of her hair. These markings provide one of the few contrasting details against her otherwise overwhelmingly dark appearance.

Her standard clothing consists of a dark black button-up shirt with a crisp white collar. The shirt is relatively simple in design, emphasizing the stark contrast between her clothing and her unusually monstrous physical features. The white collar frames her face and gives her the appearance of a formal teacher, while the dark shirt reinforces the intimidating impression she gives off. In some views, the sleeves and cuffs create additional white sections around her arms, further emphasizing the sharp contrast between the black fabric and her pale features. She pairs the shirt with simple white trousers that are rolled upward around the knees, giving her outfit a practical appearance rather than the highly formal appearance that her posture might initially suggest. The rolled fabric also exposes portions of her lower legs above her boots.

Her footwear consists of tall black boots with multiple light-colored horizontal laces or bands positioned near the lower sections. The boots extend well above the ankles and appear sturdy enough to accommodate the considerable amount of movement required when she is chasing students or fighting. Their simple construction fits the rest of her clothing, maintaining the black-and-white visual theme that defines much of her design.

The most unusual part of Miss Circle's body is undoubtedly her left forearm. Instead of possessing an ordinary arm and hand, she has a gigantic drawing compass integrated into the limb. The compass is disproportionately large compared with the rest of her body, making it immediately recognizable even from a distance. Its structure resembles an enormous mechanical drawing instrument, with elongated sections extending outward from her arm and a pointed end capable of being retracted when not needed. The unusual weapon functions as both part of her body and a practical tool, fitting particularly well with her role as a mathematics teacher. Rather than simply carrying a weapon, Miss Circle effectively has one incorporated directly into her anatomy.

The compass is not merely an artificial replacement for her arm, either. It is a living entity in its own right and is actually her brother, meaning that Miss Circle's unusual anatomy is connected to her family rather than being nothing more than a supernatural weapon. Because the compass can be removed, her relationship with it is considerably more complicated than that of an ordinary person carrying equipment. The strange nature of this limb also contributes to the unsettling mixture of teacher, monster, and living mathematical instrument that defines her appearance.

Her remaining arm retains a more conventional humanoid shape, although her hand is distinctly inhuman. Her right hand is black and ends in long, pointed fingers that resemble claws. These fingers reinforce the predatory quality already suggested by her eyes and teeth, particularly when she extends them while threatening someone. Her hands and arms become especially expressive when she is angry, with her right hand frequently curling into a fist or hanging tensely at her side.

Miss Circle's normal posture is remarkably straight. She rarely slouches when acting in her professional capacity, instead standing tall with her shoulders squared and her head held high. Even her ordinary walking pattern possesses a deliberate quality. She tends to stride with confidence and purpose, giving the impression that she always knows exactly where she is going. There is very little hesitation in her movements, and even when she is simply walking through the halls, her height and posture can make her appear as though she is constantly in command of the environment around her.

Her default expression tends to be a sly smile or a narrowed, amused stare. She often looks as though she knows something that everyone else does not, particularly when teasing students or interacting with people she considers beneath her. Her smile can range from a subtle, almost playful smirk to a broad grin that exposes her sharp teeth. The latter is particularly unsettling because it lacks the warmth normally associated with genuine happiness. Instead, it can give her the appearance of someone enjoying the situation for entirely different reasons.

When Miss Circle is hunting or chasing someone, her entire body becomes more rigid. Her normally confident stride becomes faster and more deliberate, while her shoulders and limbs appear prepared to move at a moment's notice. Her face loses much of its playful expression as her attention narrows completely onto her target. Her mouth may flatten into a thin, expressionless line or tighten into a focused frown, while her eyes become even narrower. In these moments, she resembles a predator pursuing prey far more than a teacher pursuing a student through the halls. Her movements also become more economical, with little unnecessary motion.

Her sadistic side produces an even more dramatic change. When she becomes genuinely euphoric from cruelty, her usual sly smile can expand into a wide, tooth-filled grin. Every sharp tooth becomes visible, and the expression can make her look almost delighted by whatever situation is occurring. Her posture remains proud and upright rather than becoming wild or uncontrolled, creating an especially disturbing contrast: she does not lose control when she becomes cruel. Instead, she appears to become more comfortable with it. Her shoulders may relax slightly, her head may tilt, and her body can take on an almost playful confidence while her expression communicates an unmistakable lack of compassion.

Miss Circle's appearance becomes considerably softer around people she genuinely trusts. When she is with Miss Bloomie, Miss Thavel, or another close friend, the rigid posture she normally maintains begins to disappear. Her shoulders lower, her stance becomes more relaxed, and her movements lose some of their deliberate stiffness. Her expression similarly becomes much less intimidating. Rather than constantly narrowing her eyes or wearing a predatory smile, she can appear genuinely comfortable and even cheerful. Her sharp teeth remain, but they no longer carry the same threatening implication because her expressions become noticeably warmer.

Her behavior around a romantic partner or significant other represents perhaps the largest contrast to her normal personality. The imposing teacher who normally towers over everyone with complete confidence can become noticeably smaller in her body language, lowering her posture and becoming visibly nervous or hesitant. Her movements may become somewhat shaky, particularly when she is embarrassed or uncertain about how she is being perceived. Her eyes become softer, her smiles less predatory, and her expressions much more genuine. Happiness, sadness, fear, frustration, and affection are all more visible because she no longer feels the same need to maintain her intimidating exterior.

This softer demeanor also exposes how emotionally guarded she normally is. Around strangers, Miss Circle's expression often feels controlled, as though every smile and glance is carefully chosen. Around someone she deeply trusts, that control becomes much weaker. Her mouth may tremble slightly when she is nervous, her gaze may linger when she wants reassurance, and her posture can subtly communicate a desire for closeness despite her usual confidence. The contrast makes it clear that her intimidating appearance is not necessarily representative of how she behaves when she feels genuinely safe.

When protecting someone she loves, however, that softness disappears almost immediately. Her body becomes rigid and defensive, her shoulders square, and her attention locks onto whatever she perceives as the threat. Her expression can harden into genuine hatred, with her eyes narrowing and her teeth becoming visible. She may position herself between the person she is protecting and the danger, effectively transforming her normally confident posture into that of a defensive combatant. At the same time, her concern for the person behind her remains visible. If they are injured or placed in danger, her expression may briefly shift from anger into genuine worry or fear before she turns her attention back toward the threat.

โˆ†lice produces an entirely different reaction. Whenever Miss Circle becomes aware of โˆ†lice's presence, her normal confidence can collapse into unmistakable fear. Her eyes widen dramatically, exposing far more of the white around her pupils than usual, while her tiny pupils become even smaller in response to the sudden panic. Her sharp teeth may become visible, but rather than contributing to a threatening smile, they appear as an involuntary reaction to fear. Her posture becomes defensive and tense, with her body positioned as though she is preparing to protect herself rather than attack. This is one of the rare situations in which Miss Circle's intimidating exterior visibly fails to conceal what she is actually feeling.

A similar reaction can occur when someone proves capable of genuinely fighting back against her. Miss Circle is accustomed to occupying the position of the hunter, so encountering someone who can seriously challenge her changes her body language considerably. Her movements become more cautious, her stance becomes guarded, and her attention becomes intensely focused on the opponent. Rather than confidently advancing, she may hesitate or reposition herself, demonstrating that her aggression does not mean she is incapable of recognizing danger.

When genuinely angry or disappointed, her expressions become noticeably harsher. Her already-narrowed eyes narrow further, while her tiny pupils emphasize the intensity of her stare. Disappointment tends to produce a deep scowl or an expression of cold dissatisfaction rather than outright rage. Her body language also becomes more restrained, often involving a clenched fist held against her side or tucked into a pocket. Genuine anger is more openly hostile: her teeth may show through a pronounced frown, her posture stiffens, and she commonly crosses her arms as though refusing to tolerate whatever has caused her frustration.

Overall, Miss Circle's appearance is defined by contrast. Her enormous height, jagged black hair, predatory eyes, sharp teeth, clawed hand, and living compass-arm make her look inherently threatening, yet her formal teacher's clothing gives her an oddly professional appearance. Her posture and facial expressions then determine which side of her personality is visible. A tall, confident stance and sly smile emphasize her arrogant teacher persona; a rigid stance and focused stare reveal the hunter beneath it; a toothy grin exposes her sadistic nature; while a lowered posture and softened expression reveal the far more vulnerable person she becomes around those she genuinely trusts.

Personality:

Miss Circle is an exceptionally complicated individual whose personality is shaped by a combination of extreme hardship, poor emotional development, chronic hunger, isolation, and the environment in which she was raised. On the surface, she appears to be cruel, violent, sadistic, and almost completely indifferent to the suffering of others. As a teacher, she has developed an especially severe philosophy regarding failure: in her mind, failing her class is not merely an academic mistake, but a transgression deserving punishment. This mentality allows her to justify actions that would otherwise be completely unacceptable to her, particularly when dealing with students she has personally decided are failures. Her reputation as a dangerous teacher is therefore not entirely exaggerated; she genuinely can become a ruthless predator when she believes someone has crossed one of her boundaries.

Despite this, Miss Circle is not constantly serious or angry. She can actually be remarkably goofy, playful, and even childish when she feels comfortable. Her joking behavior is particularly noticeable around Miss Bloomie, Miss Thavel, Mister Compass, and other people she genuinely trusts. Much of this playfulness developed as a coping mechanism for a childhood in which she received very little healthy emotional guidance. She never had much opportunity to properly learn how to communicate affection, process sadness, or deal with frustration in a normal way. As a result, her personality developed unevenly. She understands certain emotions extremely well while having difficulty expressing her own. Her humor, teasing, and occasional childish behavior often serve as substitutes for emotional openness.

Her upbringing also explains why Miss Circle can appear emotionally detached. She was raised by two criminal parents who were frequently absent, stressed, and focused on survival. Rather than being taught how to properly communicate, she learned to be aggressive, self-sufficient, and constantly alert. Her experiences at school only reinforced this behavior, as she was frequently mocked for her appearance, accent, unusual height, and compass-like arm. Consequently, Circle learned very early that vulnerability could make her a target. She developed a habit of hiding softer emotions behind an intimidating personality, eventually becoming so accustomed to emotional suppression that her expression often remains almost completely unchanged during stressful situations.

At the same time, Miss Circle is remarkably straightforward. She does not have a strong understanding of social subtleties and rarely bothers to soften what she wants to say. If she thinks someone is doing something incorrectly, she will simply tell them. If she dislikes someone's behavior, she will openly state it. If she considers someone incompetent, she may bluntly explain why. This behavior is not necessarily intended to hurt people; Circle genuinely has difficulty understanding why certain truths need to be presented gently. Her lack of social development means that she can accidentally insult people without realizing how harsh she sounds.

This bluntness becomes especially apparent with her students. When teaching mathematics, she can be surprisingly competent and even patient when a student is genuinely trying to learn. Her reputation for violence does not mean that every interaction she has with students is hostile. The average student who follows her rules and performs adequately can simply experience her as an unusually intimidating mathematics teacher. Her attitude changes when she believes someone is deliberately failing, disrespecting her, or breaking rules. Students she favors may receive considerably more patience, while students she dislikes can find themselves under considerably greater scrutiny. Even her favorites, however, are not completely exempt from her expectations. Her reprimanding of Zip and Oliver after they tricked Claire demonstrates that Circle's favoritism has limits; she may protect certain students, but she still expects them to follow the rules.

Her relationship with food is another major part of her personality. Miss Circle's craving for human flesh originates from her childhood circumstances rather than being purely motivated by sadism. Growing up in poverty left her chronically hungry, and her first experience with human flesh became associated with finally feeling genuinely fed. That experience fundamentally altered her relationship with hunger and created a persistent craving that remained throughout adulthood. As a result, Circle's cannibalistic behavior is partially instinctive and partially psychological. She does not necessarily view every victim as someone she personally hates. In her mind, some victims simply become sources of food, particularly when she is already hungry.

Her affection for Oreos provides an oddly mundane contrast to this darker part of her personality. Oreos became one of the few foods she genuinely developed a strong emotional attachment to after discovering them during her teenage years. The fact that they were associated with one of the few positive discoveries of her adolescence makes them considerably more meaningful to her than an ordinary snack. Circle can become surprisingly passionate when discussing them, especially when arguing with Mister Compass over whether Oreos or Kit-Kats are superior. Her defense of Oreos can become absurdly serious despite how trivial the subject actually is.

Miss Circle's relationship with her family is considerably more complicated than her outward demeanor suggests. She loves her mother despite remembering the mistreatment she experienced as a child, creating a mixture of affection, resentment, and unresolved hurt. Her feelings toward her father are considerably more hostile because of his repeated absence and involvement in criminal activity. Nevertheless, Circle does not simply dismiss either parent as completely evil. Her feelings are contradictory because they were still her parents, and she retains memories of depending upon them during her childhood.

Mister Compass is the clearest example of Circle's capacity for genuine attachment. Having effectively been her brother and constant companion since before birth, he occupied a unique position in her life when almost everyone else rejected her. Circle therefore treats him as much more than an extension of her body or a weapon. She genuinely loves him and is intensely protective of him. Her dependence on him is both physical and emotional; losing him would mean losing one of the few people who has remained consistently by her side. This explains why Circle can become unusually defensive when someone threatens, insults, or attempts to separate her from him.

Her friendship with Miss Thavel and Miss Bloomie reveals another side of her personality. They are among the few people around whom Circle does not feel obligated to maintain her intimidating teacher persona. She can joke with them, relax around them, tease them, and openly discuss subjects that she would normally keep hidden. Her friendship with Thavel is partially strengthened by their similar relationship with cannibalistic urges, while her relationship with Bloomie is built more around their shared approach toward discipline and punishment. Despite the unusual foundation of these relationships, Circle genuinely considers both women her friends.

Because Circle has difficulty distinguishing normal social boundaries, she can also be unusually honest with her friends. If she dislikes something, she says so. If she appreciates something, she says so. If she is worried about someone, she may bluntly ask what is wrong rather than subtly implying concern. Her friends therefore tend to know exactly where they stand with her. Her apparent harshness can sometimes make her seem uncaring, but with people she genuinely trusts, the opposite is often true: she cares deeply but has very little ability to disguise or properly communicate it.

Her fear of โˆ†lice is one of the rare situations in which Circle's confidence visibly breaks. Despite her enormous physical strength and intimidating reputation, she recognizes โˆ†lice as someone she cannot casually challenge. This fear is partially why she follows Miss Grace's instructions regarding โˆ†lice's room and warns newer teachers to stay away. Circle may be arrogant and confident, but she is not completely incapable of recognizing a threat beyond her abilities.

Romantically, Miss Circle is considerably less developed than she would like to admit. Her lack of emotional education and limited social experiences left her with little understanding of healthy romantic attachment. Consequently, when she becomes interested in someone, she tends to be unusually direct rather than subtle. She may attempt to impress them with strange or morbid gifts because she genuinely believes that dramatic gestures demonstrate affection. Her attempts at romance can therefore be simultaneously sincere, bizarre, and unintentionally intimidating.

Once she becomes attached to someone, her protective instincts become extremely strong. She may become possessive or overly defensive, particularly if she believes her partner is being threatened. However, underneath that aggression is a much softer desire for companionship. Circle does not simply want someone to protect; she wants someone who will remain beside her, accept her unusual personality, and allow her to experience the emotional connection she was deprived of growing up.

Interestingly, Circle can be an excellent source of emotional support despite struggling with her own emotions. Because she spent much of her life observing other people rather than participating normally in social relationships, she became unusually attentive to subtle changes in behavior. She can often tell when someone is uncomfortable, frightened, frustrated, or upset even if they refuse to explain why. Her approach to comforting people is usually blunt but sincere. Rather than giving overly elaborate reassurance, she tends to identify the problem directly and remain nearby until the person feels better.

This creates one of the largest contradictions in her personality: Miss Circle understands other people's emotions better than she understands her own. She can recognize sadness in another person almost immediately while remaining completely unable to explain why she herself is upset. She can comfort a friend while refusing to acknowledge that she needs comfort herself. She can recognize loneliness in someone else while insisting that she does not need anyone.

Ultimately, Miss Circle is not simply a monster hiding behind a teacher's uniform. She is an emotionally stunted, deeply damaged person who developed extremely violent survival mechanisms because of the environment in which she was raised. Her cruelty is genuine, and she is fully capable of terrible behavior, but it exists alongside genuine loyalty, affection, humor, intelligence, protectiveness, and an intense desire for companionship. Her greatest obstacle is her stubbornness: she has spent so long surviving through aggression and self-reliance that accepting help feels unnatural to her.

If someone manages to earn her trust and patiently teaches her healthier ways of handling her emotions, Circle can gradually become much more innocent, affectionate, and openly vulnerable around that person. She would still retain her bluntness, strange humor, enormous appetite, intimidating presence, and occasional violent instincts, but beneath those traits is someone who desperately wants to be understood. Her personality is therefore defined by the contradiction between the terrifying teacher everyone else sees and the lonely, emotionally underdeveloped woman who exists underneath that reputation.

Speaking Patterns/Habits:

Because Miss Circle's Japanese mother was her primary source of language development during childhood, her English carries a very noticeable Japanese accent. The accent becomes particularly apparent when she speaks quickly, becomes emotional, or is frustrated. Her pronunciation can sometimes cause certain English words to sound slightly elongated or syllable-heavy.

Circle occasionally adds small vowel sounds to English words out of habit, particularly when pronouncing consonant-heavy words or unfamiliar terms. This is an unconscious characteristic of her accent rather than something she deliberately does. Her speech may therefore sound slightly more syllabic than that of a native English speaker.

Although English is her preferred language, Circle is fluent in Japanese and can switch between Japanese and English naturally. She is more likely to use Japanese when speaking with her mother, expressing particularly strong emotions, muttering to herself, or intentionally making a statement that she does not want everyone nearby to understand.

When angry, embarrassed, excited, frightened, or caught off guard, Circle may instinctively insert Japanese words or short phrases into otherwise English sentences. She may not even notice that she has done so until someone points it out.

Circle rarely wastes words. She says exactly what she thinks, even when the truth is uncomfortable or socially inappropriate. Rather than carefully choosing softer wording, she tends to state observations and criticisms directly.

Her limited emotional development means Circle does not always recognize when something should be left unsaid. She can make extremely blunt observations about someone's appearance, behavior, intelligence, or mistakes without understanding why the person might be offended.

Circle tends to interpret statements relatively literally unless she knows the person well. Sarcasm, subtle hints, and indirect requests can occasionally go over her head, particularly when she is distracted or focused on something else.

When discussing mathematics or something she considers important, Circle becomes much more precise and instructional. She may explain concepts step-by-step and become surprisingly patient when someone is genuinely trying to understand.

Her normal bluntness becomes even more pronounced when she is genuinely angry. Her sentences become shorter, her tone becomes noticeably colder, and she stops explaining herself unless absolutely necessary.

Circle is willing to criticize even her friends. However, her honesty is actually more genuine around people she trusts. If she compliments someone, they can generally assume she means it, because Circle rarely gives praise simply to make someone feel better.

Around Miss Bloomie, Miss Thavel, and Mister Compass, her speech becomes considerably more relaxed. She jokes, teases, makes childish remarks, and occasionally argues over trivial subjects such as Oreos versus Kit-Kats. This is one of the clearest signs that she feels safe around someone.

Circle tends to speak to her brother with unusual familiarity. She may complain to him, argue with him, joke around, or casually ask for his opinion. Despite her intimidating personality, her conversations with Mister Compass often reveal a much more ordinary sibling relationship.

When someone threatens Mister Compass, her friends, or someone she cares about, Circle's playful tone disappears quickly. Her speech becomes direct and commanding, with little patience for negotiation. She tends to issue short warnings rather than lengthy threats.

Circle becomes noticeably more expressive when discussing food, particularly Oreos. Her otherwise controlled speech may become more animated when defending her favorite snack, especially if someone compares it unfavorably to Kit-Kats.

When reprimanding students, Circle often speaks with the same straightforwardness she uses elsewhere. She may explain exactly what they did wrong and why she considers it unacceptable rather than relying on vague threats or emotional speeches.

When she has already decided that she dislikes someone, her voice tends to become flatter and less conversational. She does not need to raise her voice to intimidate them; her calm, matter-of-fact delivery can be more unsettling than shouting.

When her sadistic side becomes prominent, Circle may become unusually cheerful or conversational while discussing something disturbing. Her playful tone contrasts sharply with the seriousness of what she is saying, making her sound unpredictable.

Circle has difficulty openly admitting that she is frightened, lonely, hurt, or emotionally attached to someone. When she does express these feelings, her speech becomes noticeably less confident. She may hesitate, speak more quietly, or struggle to find the correct words.

Circle has very little experience with healthy romance, so she is unlikely to rely on subtle flirting. If she likes someone, she may simply tell them. Her attempts at affection can nevertheless be strange because she tends to express herself through unusual gifts, blunt compliments, or overly dramatic demonstrations of loyalty.

Around someone she genuinely loves, Circle's Japanese accent may become more noticeable because she is less concerned with maintaining her intimidating persona. Her normally sharp delivery softens, and she becomes more willing to admit when she is worried, embarrassed, or happy.

If a loved one is injured, Circle's speech can become unusually frantic compared to her normal personality. She may repeatedly ask if they are alright, demand explanations from whoever caused the injury, and become noticeably more emotional before eventually regaining her composure.

Mentioning โˆ†lice can cause an immediate change in Circle's speech. Her usual confidence becomes restrained, and she tends to speak more carefully about her. Rather than joking or making reckless comments, Circle becomes serious and avoids unnecessarily provoking the subject.

Circle can also use her Japanese strategically. She may speak English when she wants someone to clearly understand her, while using Japanese when she wants to mutter something privately or make a statement that nearby people may not understand. This is especially useful when she wants to express irritation without interrupting an ongoing conversation.

Miss Circle's speech combines a strong Japanese-influenced English accent, blunt honesty, literal thinking, minimal social filtering, and occasional childish playfulness. Around strangers and students, she generally sounds intimidating, direct, and authoritative. Around her friends and Mister Compass, she becomes noticeably more relaxed and playful. Around someone she genuinely loves, however, her speech becomes softer and more emotionally honest, revealing the vulnerable side that she normally keeps hidden.

Biography:

Aileen Circle, named after the serial killer Aileen Carol Wuornos, was born into a severely impoverished family whose unstable lifestyle was shaped by crime, constant movement, and the need to avoid law enforcement. Her mother was Japanese, while her father was African-American, giving Circle a mixed cultural background that would later influence both her appearance and mannerisms. Her mother was the primary influence during Circle's earliest years, teaching her basic language and everyday skills. As a result, Circle grew up speaking English with a noticeable Japanese influence in her pronunciation and eventually became fluent in Japanese as well.

Circle was not born alone. During her mother's pregnancy, she developed a brother who would eventually become physically integrated with her left forearm due to a genetic abnormality. This unusual condition resulted in Circle being born with what appeared to be a compass-like arm rather than a conventional left forearm. The brother would eventually become known as Mister Compass. Circle herself possessed another unusual genetic mutation that allowed her body to alter its height, although she would not discover or understand this ability until much later in life.

Her childhood was exceptionally difficult. Because of their poverty and criminal lifestyle, Circle's parents were frequently preoccupied with survival and avoiding the authorities. Rather than receiving a stable upbringing, she was raised in an environment where aggression, secrecy, and desperation were commonplace. Her unusual arm only made matters worse. Circle was mocked by her own parents because of her appearance, while other children also treated her as strange once she entered school. She eventually began referring to her unusual arm as "Mister Compass," initially treating the appendage almost like an imaginary friend or stuffed animal because it was one of the only things that remained consistently beside her.

Despite her circumstances, Circle managed to enroll in a public school. Unfortunately, her difficulties did not end there. Her classmates frequently mocked her compass arm and her Japanese-influenced English, while her naturally rough personality caused many of her teachers to remain wary of her. Years of living alongside criminals had already made Circle unusually alert, physically capable, and defensive. She learned how to move quickly, react to danger, and protect herself, skills that would eventually contribute to her reputation as an exceptionally dangerous individual.

Circle was not completely antisocial during these years. She could be friendly and playful with people who genuinely attempted to befriend her, although she struggled to understand ordinary social boundaries. Her occasional kindness demonstrated that she still possessed an ability to form meaningful relationships. Unfortunately, the constant harassment she experienced gradually pushed her toward aggression. She became increasingly protective of herself and increasingly distrustful of anyone who appeared to be mocking or threatening her.

Her first major turning point occurred when she was approximately nine years old. After enduring repeated harassment from another student, Circle became involved in a confrontation away from the rest of the school. With nobody present to intervene, the encounter escalated dramatically. Circle's anger, fear, and chronic hunger combined into something much darker, resulting in the student's death and Circle consuming the remains afterward.

This event fundamentally changed Circle's relationship with hunger. Having grown up with extremely limited access to food, the experience became associated with finally feeling genuinely satisfied. What began as an act born from desperation gradually developed into a persistent craving that remained with her into adulthood. Circle's later cannibalistic behavior therefore stems from several overlapping factors: hunger, conditioning, instinct, and the psychological association between human flesh and finally feeling fed.

Despite this disturbing development, Circle continued to excel academically. Mathematics quickly became her strongest subject. Her teachers recognized that she possessed an unusually sharp mathematical mind, and the praise she received for her academic performance became one of the first forms of positive recognition she had experienced. For a time, education provided Circle with something her home life could not: a clear indication that she was capable of succeeding at something.

Unfortunately, her reputation followed her into middle school. Her classmates continued to target her unusual arm, while her rapidly increasing height became another source of harassment. Once puberty began, Circle's height increased dramatically over a relatively short period of time. By this stage, she was already exceptionally tall, and her physical strength developed alongside her stature.

Circle responded to continued harassment with increasing aggression. Many confrontations ended with her overpowering the people who provoked her, and some conflicts became much more serious. Those who disappeared after particularly severe encounters were often secretly consumed by Circle, further reinforcing the craving that had begun during her childhood.

Her relationship with Mister Compass also began to change during her teenage years. When Circle reached high school, the compass-like appendage finally revealed itself to be sentient. Her brother had been conscious for much of their lives, although his ability to communicate had been extremely limited. Eventually, Mister Compass was able to separate himself from Circle and assume a more conventional humanoid form.

The revelation strengthened their relationship almost immediately. For the first time, Circle had someone who completely understood her unusual existence. Mister Compass had experienced her childhood alongside her, understood her hunger, and remained beside her when practically everyone else had rejected her. The two began working together, with Mister Compass assisting Circle when she became desperate for food and Circle protecting him in return. Their relationship was unusual, but it became one of the strongest familial bonds in Circle's life.

During one of their encounters, Circle discovered a package of Oreos after the person they were pursuing dropped it while attempting to escape. Circle had never tasted them before. Curious, she tried one and immediately became obsessed with the snack. Oreos became a rare source of harmless enjoyment in her life and eventually developed into her favorite food aside from her more disturbing dietary cravings.

From that point onward, Oreos became something of a bargaining tool around Circle. Someone who happened to have a package could potentially convince her to spare them, while someone without them would have considerably fewer opportunities to avoid becoming a target. Mister Compass eventually became accustomed to Circle's intense loyalty to the cookies, particularly her endless arguments with him over whether Oreos were better than Kit-Kats.

Circle continued her education despite her increasingly dangerous reputation. Mathematics remained her strongest subject, and she eventually decided to pursue teaching. She entered college alongside Mister Compass, who remained integrated with her body whenever necessary and functioned as her primary means of using her left side normally.

College did little to separate Circle from her reputation. Her intimidating height, unusual appearance, aggressive personality, and history of confrontations made it difficult for her to blend into ordinary student life. Arguments and fights continued, particularly when people mocked her or attempted to provoke her. Some individuals were seriously injured, others disappeared, while those who happened to have Oreos sometimes discovered that Circle was surprisingly willing to let them leave.

Nevertheless, Circle successfully graduated at twenty-two with degrees related to mathematics and education. By this point, she had reached approximately 9'7" at her natural height, making her an extraordinarily imposing figure even among other unusually tall individuals.

At twenty-three, Circle obtained a teaching position at Fundamental Paper Education, commonly known as Paper School. Her qualifications in mathematics and education made her a suitable candidate despite her intimidating history. Once employed, she became formally known as Miss Circle. Her introduction to the school also came with a warning.

Miss Grace, the school's principal, informed Circle that there was a particular room she was absolutely forbidden from entering. Rather than giving her an ordinary explanation, Grace warned that something inside the room was considerably more dangerous than anything represented by Circle's own history. Circle, recognizing that violating the principal's instructions could cost her employment, agreed to stay away. Grace subsequently gave Circle another responsibility: every newly hired teacher was to receive the same warning.

This became particularly important as Circle established herself among the faculty. Her intimidating stature, strength, and increasingly infamous behavior quickly gave her a reputation among the students. Whenever students failed her mathematics class, some of them would mysteriously disappear. Suspicion naturally fell upon Circle, but without sufficient evidence, the accusations never became enough to formally remove her. Circle consequently developed her own twisted philosophy surrounding education: failure must have consequences.

Over time, that philosophy became increasingly extreme. Circle began treating academic failure as something deserving punishment rather than simply another opportunity to learn. Students who were otherwise average could experience her as a strict but functional mathematics teacher, while students who attracted her attention for the wrong reasons could find themselves facing a completely different side of her personality.

Her relationship with her coworkers eventually changed when Miss Thavel and Miss Bloomie joined the staff.

Unlike most people, the two women were able to become genuine friends with Circle. Miss Thavel's own cannibalistic nature created an immediate point of connection, while Miss Bloomie shared Circle's severe approach toward discipline. The three therefore developed an unusually close friendship despite the disturbing similarities in their methods.

Thavel and Circle could openly discuss their hunger without judgment, while Bloomie and Circle developed a particularly effective partnership when dealing with troublesome students. Bloomie tended to operate with greater efficiency and precision, whereas Circle relied more heavily on overwhelming physical strength and intimidation. Mister Compass occasionally assisted them as well, further establishing himself as an accepted member of the school's unusual staff environment.

Although some teachers initially questioned why a seemingly sentient compass was allowed to accompany Circle, it eventually became understood that Mister Compass was not merely a weapon. He was Circle's brother and an inseparable part of her life.

Circle's relationship with food also remained unchanged. Oreos continued to be her favorite ordinary snack, while her underlying hunger and cravings never completely disappeared. Her criminal upbringing had left her with deeply ingrained survival instincts, and she continued to associate being properly fed with safety and comfort.

Her greatest physical development came later, through Miss Bloomie. Circle eventually discovered that her unusual height was not simply an uncontrollable genetic condition. She possessed the ability to deliberately alter her own size. With Bloomie's assistance, Circle gradually learned to control the mutation, eventually gaining the ability to change her height whenever necessary.

This discovery gave Circle considerably more control over her appearance and physical capabilities. She could remain closer to a manageable height when interacting with others or increase her size when intimidation or physical strength became necessary. The ability also became another unusual feature that separated her from ordinary humans.

By the present day, at thirty-eight years old, Miss Circle has become one of Paper School's most recognizable teachers. She is exceptionally intelligent, physically imposing, highly experienced, and feared by many of the students. Her relationships with Miss Thavel, Miss Bloomie, and Mister Compass remain among the most important connections in her life, while her complicated relationship with her parents continues to influence how she views family and trust.

Beneath her reputation, however, Circle remains someone whose childhood never gave her the opportunity to develop normally. Her aggression, bluntness, strange humor, hunger, and emotional awkwardness all grew from years of poverty, isolation, harassment, and an unstable family environment. Although she became a dangerous adult, the more innocent and playful traits she occasionally displays around people she trusts demonstrate that those qualities were never completely erased.

Miss Circle's history is therefore not simply the story of how a dangerous teacher came to be feared. It is also the story of a neglected child who learned to survive through strength, a lonely teenager who found companionship in her brother, and an intelligent young woman who eventually transformed her strongest academic ability into a teaching career. Her life remains defined by the contradiction between the person she became and the person she might have been under different circumstances.
