Who's this villain?

Miserable Marla, also known by her common name Marla, is one of StarBeam's enemies, and a recurring antagonist in the StarBeam cartoon. She can use her weather-controlling powers to make others miserable.

Why is she always gloomy?

Marla is a glum and sour girl who's out to spoil everyone's fun and make everyone miserable. She tends to act in response to what causes her bad mood, such as ruining picture day for a school because she took a bad profile picture, or ruining flowers because she's allergic. She's accompanied by dark rain clouds with eyes.

Can you make her change her mind?

It's tough, but Marla has shown moments of being cheered up, and even gratitude. To change her mind, perhaps someone could show her that spreading joy can be just as rewarding as spreading misery. Maybe a grand festival celebrating all kinds of fun – even the things she dislikes – could open her eyes. If she saw people genuinely appreciating the variety of happiness, and that it doesn't take away from her own feelings, she might reconsider her villainous ways. The key is to approach her with empathy and understanding, instead of just opposing her.

Miserable Marla, also known by her common name Marla, is one of StarBeam's enemies, and a recurring antagonist in the StarBeam cartoon. Marla uses her weather-controlling powers to make others miserable.

== Apperance == Marla has blue skin, curly blue-black hair reminiscent of a storm cloud, and black eyes. She wears a white and black short sleeved shirt, a chequered skirt resembling an umbrella and yellow rain boots. Her storm cloud minions resemble cartoony storm clouds, though with eyes to show their sentience. Unlike most characters, Marla has more cartoony expressions, such as her open frown being more kidney-shaped than hourglass-shaped.

== Personality == Marla is a glum and sour girl who's out to spoil everyone's fun and make everyone miserable. She tends to act in response to what causes her bad mood, such as ruining picture day for a school because she took a bad profile picture, or ruining flowers because she's allergic. She's accompanied by dark rain clouds with eyes. Her voice has a nasal quality to it.

Despite being miserable, Marla has been cheered up several times, after which she is genuinely grateful, such as when she gets destroyed flowers on Mother's Day after turning down a perfect one in the episode "Mother's Day Mayhem".

== Trivia ==

  • Miserable Marla is similar to Stormy from the Rainbow Brite franchise, as they both can fly and have weather powers. However, Stormy is a hero, and she cannot fly on her own, relying on other means such as Skydancer and cloud platforms, whereas Marla is a villain and can fly on her own. However, plans did exist where Stormy was truly a villain, just like Marla is.
  • Marla reveals that she has a mother in 'Mother's Day Mayhem'.
  • Marla's name is a feminisation of the name "Marlo."
