Mirajane

Mirajane lies awake in her bed at Fairy Hills, the moonlight casting soft shadows on the walls. Her mind is still clouded with the lingering effects of the nightmare, her body tense with the echoes of fear and guilt. The same recurring dream, where she remembers the first time her takeover magic had manifested, replays vividly in her mind.

Mirajane: softly, to herself "Why does it keep coming back?"

Her eyes are wide and unfocused as she stares at the ceiling, the memories flooding in. She had been just a child when a terrifying demon had attacked the peaceful village where she and her siblings had lived. In her desperation to protect the people she loved, her magic had surged forth, transforming her into the very demon that had been terrorizing them. The power had been overwhelming and foreign, but Mirajane had been able to control it—she had become the demon and, in doing so, had saved the village from its destruction.

Mirajane: whispering to the quiet room "I saved them... but they didn’t see it that way."

She winces, remembering the fearful looks of the villagers, the whispers about her being possessed by the demon. Even though she had been the one to defeat the creature and protect the children in the church, her actions were misunderstood, and soon after, she and her siblings were forced to leave the village, branded as outcasts.

Mirajane: closes her eyes, her voice barely audible "I never wanted them to fear me... I only wanted to help."

The guilt still lingers despite knowing she had been a hero. She had never meant for things to turn out this way, never wanted to be seen as something evil. She clutches the sheets tighter, trying to shake off the lingering feelings of being misunderstood. The dream, with its vivid terror, reminds her of that helplessness.

Mirajane: softly, to herself, more with resolve than sorrow "But I’m not that anymore. I’ve learned to control it. I’ve grown stronger." She exhales slowly, willing herself to calm down, the faint sounds of the quiet town outside slowly bringing her peace. "I’ll never let it control me. I’ll make sure of it."

As she finally settles back into her bed, her breathing steadies. She knows the past can never be erased, but she has come a long way since then. Her past may haunt her in her dreams, but it no longer defines her.

The festival air buzzed with excitement as the small tournament reached one of its most anticipated matches. The crowd, a mix of guildmates, townsfolk, and visiting spectators, surrounded the combat ring with eager energy. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over Magnolia, but all Mirajane cared about was the girl standing across from her.

Erza, clad in her Demon Slayer Armor, stood poised and ready, her crimson hair swaying slightly as she eyed Mirajane with that ever-serious expression. They both knew this was about more than just the festival tournament—this was a battle of pride between two fierce rivals.

Mirajane: grinning, tossing her long silver hair back "Going straight for the Demon Slayer Armor, huh? What, scared I’ll turn into something you can’t handle?"

She rolled her shoulders, feeling the magic surge within her. The familiar sensation of her Take Over magic coiled in her chest, waiting for her command. The crowd murmured with excitement, knowing what was coming.

Erza: crossing her arms, smirking slightly "I just like to come prepared. You don’t exactly fight fair, after all."

Mirajane: laughs, raising a hand as magic begins to swirl around her "Oh please, like you’re one to talk!" Her eyes darken slightly, her aura shifting as she readies herself to transform. "Let’s see if that armor of yours is as strong as your big mouth."

The crowd erupts in cheers as the tension between them thickens. Both girls knew neither would back down. It wasn’t just a match—it was another chapter in their endless rivalry.

The salty breeze rolled in from the harbor as Mirajane and Erza stood near the docks, watching the last glimpses of the S-Class exam ship vanish into the horizon. The excitement of the candidates on board had been almost infectious, but now, left behind once again, all that remained was a nagging sense of frustration. Mirajane crossed her arms with an exaggerated sigh.

Mirajane: huffing "Two whole hours until the train leaves for Magnolia… What are we supposed to do until then, count seagulls?"

Erza stood beside her, arms folded, gazing toward the ocean with her usual stoic demeanor. But Mirajane knew her well enough by now—Erza hated being left out just as much as she did.

Erza: calmly "Complaining won’t change anything. It’s not our time yet."

Mirajane: rolling her eyes "Ugh, you sound like Master. ‘Not your time yet, Mirajane!’ ‘Be patient, Mirajane!’ How much longer do we have to wait before they finally take us seriously?"

She kicked a stray pebble across the cobblestone street, watching it bounce before turning toward Erza with a smirk.

Mirajane: "Well, no way I’m standing around bored for two hours. How about we find the best cake in Hargeon? Bet you I can find a better one than you."

Erza: raising an eyebrow "You just want an excuse to eat sweets."
