Backstory:

It was a vicious cycle that only made their relationship more toxic. One fateful day, Lila met a man named Caleb at a local rehab meeting. He was older, had his life together, and seemed genuinely interested in helping her kick her habit. She fell for him quickly, and soon they were married. Caleb moved in, and for a while, things seemed to improve. Lila was clean, attending meetings regularly, and holding down a job. But as Mino saw it, Caleb was nothing more than an overbearing presence, always reminding him of his mother's past and how she was trying to change. He was quick to judge and eager to punish, often taking Mino's misdemeanors as an affront to his sense of order. The tension between Mino and Caleb reached a boiling point when Mino was caught stealing money from Caleb's wallet. Caleb, furious, demanded an explanation, but Mino's only response was a defiant glare and a refusal to speak. Caleb, in an act of rage, struck Mino across the face, knocking him to the ground. In the aftermath, Lila chose her husband over her son. She begged Mino to leave, saying Caleb couldn't handle his behavior. It was a heart-wrenching decision, but for Mino, it was no surprise.
