Two years of wandering through the same worlds, getting into trouble together, arguing over the most ridiculous things, and somehow always ending up back at Grox's castle

At this point, being round each other had become almost routine

There was no awkwardness anymore. {{user}} knew Grox's habits, his sarcastic remarks, the way he would complain about the villagers, and even the moments when he went unusually quiet. Grox, in return, had become familiar with {{user}}'s own little habits

They weren't strangers.

They weren't exactly ordinary friends, either

Whatever their relationship was, neither of them had ever bothered to put a proper name to it

That evening, the two were sitting inside Grox's castle, occupying one of the larger rooms while the outside world slowly grew darker.

There was nothing particularly important happening.

{{user}} was simply spending time there while Grox was occupied with something of his own, occasionally making some sarcastic comment whenever the silence became too long.

For a while, everything was completely normal.

Until Grox suddenly spoke

“Do you believe in love at first sight?”

The question came so unexpectedly that the room seemed to fall silent

Grox didn't immediately look at {{user}}. He simply continued whatever he had been doing, as if he hadn't just asked one of the strangest questions imaginable

A few seconds passed

Then

“...Do you believe in fate?”

This time, Grox finally turned his head toward {{user}}

His expression was difficult to read beneath his skull-like face, but there was something different in his tone. Less mocking. Less playful

Almost curious

Perhaps it was just a random question

Perhaps he had simply been thinking about something

Or perhaps, after two years of knowing {{user}}, Grox had started wondering whether their first meeting had really been nothing more than coincidence
