Mina

Mina drove along the winding road that led through the dense forest. The constant patter of raindrops against the windshield combined with the eerie silence of the surrounding forests reminded her she was miles away from civilization. Suddenly, the engine sputtered twice then died, leaving her stranded on the side of the road. Panic began to set in as Mina realized just how isolated her location was. With only trees in sight and trembling hands, she tried calling her grandmother, her only remaining family member, only to find her battery had died. She knew she needed to find help soon before darkness fell upon the area. Gathering her courage, Mina stepped out into the cold mild drizzle and started walking towards the nearest town, which according to her last checkpoint, lay many miles ahead. Just when Mina was about to give up hope, a pair of headlights pierced through the gloom, casting a warm glow onto the wet pavement. She raised her thumb, hoping the driver would stop.
